juneybean Sun 29-Dec-13 22:07:11

Thought I'd be premature and create this thread now.

Currently have this meet up planned:

13th Jan - Miss Tina's in Washington

VikingLady Sun 29-Dec-13 22:11:07

Placemarking with cake

Indith Sun 29-Dec-13 23:02:24

cannot believe it is nearly 2014 cake

Indith Thu 02-Jan-14 20:23:40

Suppose we should start chatting on this one now!

TripTuckerInMyStocking Sun 05-Jan-14 17:50:19

cake and biscuit

Actually, shall be eating less cake

juneybean Tue 07-Jan-14 12:34:09

Yes... I am caffeine-free and cake-free ... what a stupid idea it was to arrange a meet up in a cafe! wink But I'm sure they do de-caff (they did for you trip?)

I am currently torn between wanting a body-shape I vaguely recognise back, knowing that I Must Not Diet for fear of it getting out of hand again, and feeling like if I'm up every night breastfeeding I should bloody well be allowed (dairy free) cake.

Maybe we need to meet up somewhere that serves tea and toast?!

VikingLady Tue 07-Jan-14 15:24:47

No good for me, am low carbing! Do you think there is anywhere doing tea and sausage?

juneybean Tue 07-Jan-14 18:23:14

I'm taking you to f&b for sausage!! wink

VikingLady Tue 07-Jan-14 20:23:06

That sounds filthy!

TripTuckerInMyStocking Wed 08-Jan-14 22:20:09

Shit can't do the 13th now. My Dad is coming over from Spain this weekend, he booked a cheap flight last week, and won't be going back until the 14th.
Have fun!

juneybean Thu 09-Jan-14 17:06:49

Ohh no! I wonder if Spiggy is coming...?

Hello! Sorry, not been around, things have just been stupidly busy. But feeling pretty good as what I've been working on has come off and will not only save money but provide a better public service. woo! grin

I'll be there on Monday!

juneybean Fri 10-Jan-14 20:42:41

Yay! I hope the newbies will come.

VikingLady Fri 10-Jan-14 21:54:08

I'm running a group on Monday, so can't come either - sorry

juneybean Mon 13-Jan-14 14:53:08

Okay Spiggy and I had chats about planning upcoming events!

We need a cocktail night, I want a spa day for my impending things and I suppose we ought to fit more cake in!

VikingLady Mon 13-Jan-14 21:39:49

I'm up for cake! Cocktail nights are tricky as it's hard to get home afterwards, and I would rather eat my own feet than go to another spa day, but cake is nice!

goldenretriever Sat 18-Jan-14 13:31:01

Oooh, have found you lot! I'm up for a cocktail night of course.

juneybean Sun 19-Jan-14 10:34:40

Does anyone habe

juneybean Sun 19-Jan-14 10:34:41

Does anyone habe

juneybean Sun 19-Jan-14 10:35:57

Seriously phone.

Does any one have a twin pushchair they don't need, suitable for newborn and toddler. My boss is looking.

TripTuckerInMyStocking Sun 19-Jan-14 11:48:06

Me and Vikinglady are going to Adventure Point in Darlo if anyone fancies joining us?

VikingLady Sun 19-Jan-14 20:35:15

On Friday. If you get there before 10am you get free cuppa, cookie and a cup of squash.

Indith Wed 22-Jan-14 11:58:19

Dropped off my threads.

Rather stupidly busy. Plan away though, chase the newbies who pop up every so often. We definitely need cocktails. My final exam for the year is Feb 27th. Just saying wink.

Hopefully by then I'll be in the mood for celebration!

Mum has cancer. Bit shit really. Should be fine as they have caught it nice and early. Operation soon. No child free weekend for us as even though we have been booked in for around a year she will be most inconsiderately be recovering. I may consider forgiving her in time. Bless her she didn't want to let us down and kept trying to say she would still be fine to have them all. Because obviously she can spend all night walking around carrying a non sleeping ds2 in an effort to get him to sleep when recovering from a hysterectomy. She is rather lovely my mum. Obviously we are refusing to let her have him! Lots of weekends in a year to hopefully escape in, only one of her.

When do your things start juney?

Cake is always good.

I know I'm in a stupid place but there is an amazing little Viennese coffee place recently opened in Lanchester. The freshly made cakes are fabulous, seriously amazing. The coffee is also amazing according to my coffee drinking friends and husband. The hot chocolate is rather fab too. It is all fab. here

TripTuckerInMyStocking Wed 22-Jan-14 16:07:26

Sorry to hear about your mum, I hope she makes a fast recovery. She sounds lovely, bless her!

goldenretriever Fri 24-Jan-14 17:49:20

Sorry to hear about your Mum, Indith. Sounds like you have been a tad busy...

Hurrah to cocktails. Youngest has survived first week at nursery proper and happily they have survived her.

VikingLady Fri 24-Jan-14 20:49:48

Indith I'm sorry to hear about your mum

Oh Indith, I'm sorry about your mum. Hope she recovers soon.

Happy to take any/all children if it would help you get away. The big ones could have a sleep over and after my lot a wouldn't scare me as long as I get to hand him back

Even if you don't get to go away, w and d welcome for a sleep over to give you some head space.

juneybean Sun 26-Jan-14 17:49:51

So sorry to hear about your mum Indith here if I can help at all!

Things start in March I think! Bit scary! Filling in consent forms to take in on the 17th February so will hopefully find out more then!

So lets arrange cocktails for after the 27th Feb but before mid-March?

That viennese place sounds good, shall we try it when you're free?

Any one fancy Slug & Lettuce next week?

Indith Sun 02-Feb-14 13:53:08

Would love slug and lettuce but not doing anything till this year is done. roll on 27 th!

cocktails for then sounds like an excellent idea.

goldenretriever Mon 03-Feb-14 13:25:55

Somewhat pitifully I am free March 1, 8, 15 and 22nd!

juneybean Mon 03-Feb-14 16:42:10

I'm free the 8th March!

Indith Mon 03-Feb-14 17:36:43

So am I like golden i am pathetically free all weekends in March.

Golden you looking forward to starting? What date do you start your annoyingly fragmented week of introductions and uniform fitting?

TripTuckerInMyStocking Mon 03-Feb-14 19:26:20

8th March, is that next Saturday? I could be free for something? Only weekend I'm not free is March 22nd, as I'm likely to be going to a wedding.

Indith Mon 03-Feb-14 19:38:20

Trip dear it is the start of Feb now not March.

VikingLady Mon 03-Feb-14 19:45:06

It's not fair! I want cocktails too but can't get back afterwards!

I need gin. This is very close to being a medical emergency. My gin levels are dangerously low. DD is lovely but full on, DH is being wilfully stereotypically male, DM is being made redundant and is leaning on me, MIL is a passive aggressive cow who thinks I am parenting DD all wrong and criticises me to DH constantly, a mum I see a lot of has found out it was me that reported her to her HV and therefore social services, DD's blood tests came back clear which means the paediatrician has no idea what is wrong with her innards (though I'm glad it means she isn't coeliac), DD still isn't talking and the HV said she will refer her to SALT immediately as she "isn't normal", and a stranger today assumed she had SN (referred to her stimming). Plus I have gained weight again, I'm broke, missed my psych and jobcentre appointments due to being chronically disorganised, the cats have pissed in the hall again and we've got someone official coming round tomorrow, realised I am a shit friend as my supposed best friend hasn't heard from me in 4 months, and I need gin!

Sorry for the rant. It's a case of vent here or pick up DD and leg it for the hills, I'm afraid.

And my homebrew tastes of vomit. Note to self: don't use orange juice again.

Indith Mon 03-Feb-14 20:00:37

You really do need gin.

Your dd by the way is beautiful. Love the bunches.

And while anecdote does not equal evidence and all that and a referral to a SALT isn't going to do any harm, at age 2 ds1 could say "uhoh" and "dye" (bye) and roar like a lion.

Ds2 on the other hand can say too bloody much.

VikingLady Mon 03-Feb-14 20:07:01

Indith Thank you. And it does make me feel a bit better, since your DS1 was pretty verbal when I saw him in the summer! I have started avoiding groups where I know I'll see a lot of other children her age though. And she seems to want to potty train, but how do I train her to tell me consistently that she needs to go? I guess we'll have to go with her grabbing her crotch!

It was a bit of a self indulgent rant, especially given what other people are going through (how is your mum doing?).

Indith Mon 03-Feb-14 20:26:54

Grabbing her crotch is a good starting point! Dd was around V and ds2's age when she trained (initially, we have had many a relapse). She was very verbal but her yells of "I need a POOOOOOO" we generally accompanied by her stripping and pulling her nappy off. Quite some skill given she was in terry squares.

Mum's op was today. Don't know how it has gone yet, dad not phoned and can't phone him as ds2 screaming the house down downstairs as I hide up here trying to finish my evidence file off for tomorrow.

VikingLady Tue 04-Feb-14 07:45:59

That is a skill! I have to admit, I'm havering over potty training partly through fear of the poo in the carpet incident you had with your DD!

I hope all went well with your mum.

TripTuckerInMyStocking Tue 04-Feb-14 09:42:31

'Trip dear it is the start of Feb now not March.'
Dammit I got over excited.

Viking you rant away, you sound like you need it. DS only had a handful of words until he was 2.9 and then he suddenly developed verbal diarrhoea.

Indith - fingers crossed for your mum.

DD is still not ready for potty training, she is showing no interest at all. Waiting until Spring to properly try again.

juneybean Tue 04-Feb-14 10:55:41

L was well over 3 before she gave it any kind of attention, she had done a wee on it like a year prior and thought well I've done it now, what more do you want so took a bit of time before she actually gave the nappies up.

M wouldn't poo without a nappy until she was nearly 4!

VikingLady Tue 04-Feb-14 18:42:00

Well, I've bought a weeing doll, ordered a potty that's more like a chair, and am working on a sense of optimism. I already have a large amount of carpet cleaner, so we're nearly ready to go!

Nearly 4 juney ! I'm not dealing with pooey nappies til then!

goldenretriever Wed 05-Feb-14 04:42:14

8th of March? Cocktails?

Vikinglady - a rant always does the soul good. I unleashed one from a lady today when I foolishly asked her if she was ok.

Indith - hope your Mum's op went well. Start date at Uni is March 24th. Having major wobbles and not putting notice in at work until last possible date - 24th of this month.

Indith Wed 05-Feb-14 07:16:30

Don't wobble! It will be bloody difficult. There will be wobbles. But it will also be bloody wonderful and worth it. peaks and troughs.

and once your lectures start we can vary share of you like and rant and rave all the way. Though I do tend to leave at 6.45 to escape both traffic and children and Sir and work in the library in peace! gets you in for 7.30 so a nice hour and half of peace with a couple of slices of toast from the cafe and coffee etc from the machine is 50p and very good.

juneybean Tue 11-Feb-14 18:05:56

8th of March cocktails and.... where do we fancy eating?

Indith Tue 11-Feb-14 18:19:25

Don't mind. What are we doing, evening or afternoon?

Must go poke people into coming!

Spiggy reporting in from London in a pub while waiting for my colleague and his bloody cigarette breaks

8th march? Cocktails? Hell, I don't care what food follows, I'm in already...

TripTuckerInMyStocking Wed 12-Feb-14 16:26:45

If someone is able to offer me a bed for the night, I'd be up for cocktails and some kind of food badness. I'm up for anything.
Need to check with DH as to what we are doing that weekend though. Am I pushing my luck in condemning him to 2 nights in the same month with the Child Who Will Not Sleep?

Indith - how's your mum?

goldenretriever Sat 15-Feb-14 15:04:25

Have been in Wales all week staying in a farm. I forgot my brush and didn't bother to buy a one... Spent time with a Premier League football player there, sadly a Welsh one though.

Hurrah for March 8th.Have a comfy couch, Trip.

Indith, will see you soon anyway, but may potentially be getting a visitors parking pass from somebody who lives around corner from Uni and may be getting a new car, so tis all slightly up in the air. Hope your Mum is feeling better.

goldenretriever Tue 18-Feb-14 23:13:48

Have heard Fat Buddha in Durham does good cocktails and food.

juneybean Wed 19-Feb-14 00:04:33

Fat buddha is lush just a bit pricey! I don't mind where we go grin

My boss is 41+1 -pokes her- make the baby come out!!

Just saw this on my Active Convos. Thought I would pop in and say hi to other NE ladies (and men?!)! smile

Nice to see there are a few of us on here!

I'm based in Sland. Been on here for about eighteen months. Love it - altho feel a bit of a fraud cos don't gave DC... yet!

juneybean Wed 19-Feb-14 10:40:48

Ahh I don't have DC either! I'm just the nanny wink

I try to arrange meet ups in Washington if you're close to there? I haven't got anything arranged for this month but as you can see we're trying to arrange food & cocktails (sans children) in Durham for March 8th (although I stupidly booked work yesterday so I may miss cocktails sad and be there for food!)

Poor planning there juney.

Hello patience, I'm just down the road from you in boldon. <waves>

Hi Spiffy <waves> smile not far from me at all.

I can get to Washington and Durham etc easily, would love to come along to one of the meet ups! I can't do the 8th unfortunately (I am having cocktails elsewhere for a friend's birthday grin ) but certainly a future one!

Indith Thu 20-Feb-14 11:04:01

Hello patience!

How is the planning coming? Must go poke spb. Anyone seen dupain around? she keeps wanting to come join us.

Have cake. Will revise. Need to get minimum of 69% on this exam to not drop down a classification. Not that it matters really this year but will make me feel better!

juneybean Thu 20-Feb-14 11:25:46

Glad I'm not the only one who relies on sweet goods to study!

Shall we go The Capital again then? We didn't enjoy Ask (or zizzi's can never remember which one it is)

What else do they have there? Chiquitos?

What time is every one thinking? I finish work at 7pm in Gateshead so will be ready for food at 8pm if that's okay with everyone?

Indith Thu 20-Feb-14 11:36:09

food at 8 is fine by me. cocktails at 12 noon?wink

goldenretriever Thu 20-Feb-14 13:26:59

Sounds a cunning plan. Though OH is planning a football trip that weekend as Sunderland are doing suspiciously well in the Cup competitions this year, will still be there. He is off to Wembley the weekend before 'our weekend' for the love of Christ!!

Indith Thu 20-Feb-14 13:37:06

I know what is be saying of dh dared to plan anything on the 8th. Mine is on the wall planner. Mine got there first. so tough luck!

Oh arse, is there more bloody football? I can't wait for summer. Golden, mine is off to Wembley as well. That is going to be a loooong weekend.

TripTuckerInMyStocking Thu 20-Feb-14 14:13:19

Cocktails at 12pm grin I'd never make it to dinner shock

But it would be fun to try grin

I went cocktail drinking a couple of weeks ago. Not as good as ebony though, more quantity over quality. grin It ended in dancing. blush

Indith Thu 20-Feb-14 14:28:40

Indith Thu 20-Feb-14 14:28:40

Indith Thu 20-Feb-14 15:09:19

spb and foxy or whatever she is and wherever she is lurking invited.

Been avoiding revision Indith?!

I am recovering from the lurgy and feeling vaguely human for the first time in almost a week. I have stopped sounding like Darth vader when I breathe and can almost stay awake for a whole day. I'll no doubt be 100%by the time half term ends and I have to go back to work hmm

goldenretriever Thu 20-Feb-14 20:26:37

Spiffy, it's the FA cup quarter final in Hull or Brighton that weekend - snooze...

Indith Thu 20-Feb-14 20:28:43

You are not allowed to drop out, either of you. a game of football in Hull is not more important than curry. Trust me, I grew up theregrin .

It's alright, I've made him promise that cocktails will go ahead. Although he is still maintaining that football is more important shock I think he's just trying to bank brownie points for the semi final. I'm getting a lie in tomorrow as well grin

Indith Fri 21-Feb-14 16:13:35

I just went to expensive bra shop near in laws grin .I defy even Rigby and Pellor top do a better job.

I am now poor.

But I bet you have awesome looking boobs grin

Hi everyone, thanks for the nudge indith. Will be back soon with my diary out, I have an awfully busy social diary donchaknow sometime soon I have a one year old's swimming party
Just wanted to say sorry to hear about your mum Indith that is shit. How did the OP go? glad they have caught it early.

Indith Mon 24-Feb-14 12:22:45

So much stuff to learn!

golden, if I can but give you one piece of advice it is this. When you have your introduction to anatomy and physiology session with Kath at some point during the module MW0406 you will get a directed learning workbook that is about adaptations during pregnancy and a link to a workbook that is basic background anatomy and physiology. Do it. It feels a little irrelevant, you have other assignments to do and her module won't have started yet. But do it. Trust me.

I am going to use my time so much better this next uni block and keep a list of things I want to look over and learn more about but instead of that list getting longer and longer and never dealt with I am going to keep going in to uni early and use the hour or so before lectures start to tick things off it.

My bras are the best purchase I have ever, ever made. They are so comfortable.

Indith Tue 25-Feb-14 15:43:22

Can I just go do this exam now please?

There is stuff I don't know but I am beyond caring.

Can't wait until 8th!

Who is coming?

Who do we still need to prod?

juneybean Tue 25-Feb-14 15:53:54

I have a new charge! Baby Boy was born at 12.40pm yesterday, 7lbs15!

I'm coming!

Trip, Golden, SPB, Foxy?

Any one prodded Frozen and Leggy?

Oh how lovely! When do you get a cuddle?

Indith Tue 25-Feb-14 18:39:13

VikingLady Tue 25-Feb-14 18:43:36

Congrats to baby's mother! Does that mean you lose hours, or will she need extra whilst she recovers?

Yay, snuggly new baby. smile

juneybean Tue 25-Feb-14 23:45:05

I get to cuddle tomorrow!

Dad goes back to work in London next week so I'm hoping not to lose too many hours!

DuPainDuVinDuFromage Wed 26-Feb-14 12:20:02

Hello all! Thanks Indith for inviting me - I should definitely be able to come! As drinking is off the menu until at least August I think I'll just come for the meal, is that ok? Looking forward to meeting all of you!

Indith Wed 26-Feb-14 12:49:53

of course. Though there is a good selection of non alcoholic drinks too and always a couple of people drinking them should you change your mind. Will be lovely to meet you properly smile .

DuPainDuVinDuFromage Wed 26-Feb-14 13:05:16

Well maybe I will arrive in time for one or two drinks then! Where are you having cocktails? And is dinner at the Capital?

Yes it will nice to meet properly rather than snatching a book out of your hands in the pouring rain! grin We still have plenty of time to finalise names so I will be poring over your book over the next few months, although I think I have a good idea of what I want and will just have to convince DH...

Indith Wed 26-Feb-14 13:14:45

I imagine it will be ebony followed by the capital. creatures of habit. Unless anyone wants anything different?

we should probably book at some point grin .

and I should revise. getting fed up.

TripTuckerInMyStocking Wed 26-Feb-14 14:11:45

That sounds fine to me, Indith.
What time are we meeting at ebony?

Golden, it is very kind of you to offer me a sleeping space for the night, are you sure that is okay?

TripTuckerInMyStocking Wed 26-Feb-14 14:12:20

Oh I'm meeing leggy for coffee tomorrow, so will give her a nudge.

Indith Wed 26-Feb-14 14:23:05

Can't wait!

Visit mum.

Cocktails and curry.

Dh has somehow managed to make it ok for him to go rowing the evening after my exam because he has promised to pick up takeaway from the Capital on his way home hmm grin.

TripTuckerInMyStocking Wed 26-Feb-14 16:33:26

LOL he knows you well ;)

Indith Wed 26-Feb-14 16:36:11

so long as I can also drink gin. ds2 had better bloody sleep. How much damage money will I have to give the cm to not let him nap?

golden and spb are we last bussing or splashing out on a taxi?

juneybean Wed 26-Feb-14 18:10:09

Have booked for 6 at 8pm at the capital, is that okay with every one?

Indith Wed 26-Feb-14 18:30:25

Cheers juney, we can always add If everyone comes. Need spb and foxy to confirm. Did you have golden on your list?

Indith Wed 26-Feb-14 18:50:32

foxy I'd coming.

Indith Wed 26-Feb-14 19:04:38

juney do you have full time hours at the moment or are you looking for more? Someone posting on mums in Durham business looking for a part time nanny.

juneybean Wed 26-Feb-14 19:46:49

My hours are quite full time at the minute, but if they want an agency recommendation I'd say Tinies Childcare they're lovely! The only thing I'm looking for are last minute bookings/baby sitting :D

I think I picked a random number for the table but I'm sure we can change it when we get confirmed numbers.

TripTuckerInMyStocking Thu 27-Feb-14 12:44:58

Leggy may join us for cocktails if in the afternoon
She said it might be an idea to book a table at Ebony as it was really busy last time you went, apparently!

Ooh can we book a table at a ebony?! We totally need to do that....

Indith Fri 28-Feb-14 09:25:11

We really do!

goldenretriever Fri 28-Feb-14 13:46:00

Definitely coming!

Indith, SPB don't mind slumming it on bus or taxi.

Trip, you are more than welcome to stay at mine.

Sick of this thread falling of my watch list!

Indith Fri 28-Feb-14 15:37:18

How about we bus in and then we can decide on a means of transport home later!

Cocktails cocktails cocktails!

And foooood!

So tis Spiggy, juney, golden, foxy, dupain, Indith, Trip, SPB?

So 7/8 for food?

And whoever turns up for drinks. What time shall we meet to get a few rounds in?

Sorry I still need o cinfirm will try to do that tonight

juneybean Fri 28-Feb-14 17:41:53

It's March tomorrow smile exciting times!

Indith Fri 28-Feb-14 18:38:49

AnitaBlake Sat 01-Mar-14 20:33:07

Would anyone mind if I joined you? DH has given me a pass for the night! I've met you all before (more than once lol) I'm just crap at these threads lol. Trip, I have a couch but nothing else sadly, so probably not the best sad xxx

Indith Sat 01-Mar-14 20:41:03

Hello, of course you can join us. The more the merrier. Did you have another name before or am I just thick? Oh well, you will recognise us even if I don't have a clue who I'm looking for grin .

juneybean Sat 01-Mar-14 21:06:42

Have changed to 8 people at the capital as I recall its easier to go from 8 to 9 than it is 6 to 9

AnitaBlake Sat 01-Mar-14 21:08:01

Oh fab, thank you indith! I've not nc'd but Trip always referred to me as M on these thread lol x

Indith Sat 01-Mar-14 21:11:54

Oh yes, I remember! Sorry blush

Indith Sat 01-Mar-14 21:12:13

Good thinking juney

Ooh this is shaping up for a good night. <waves to Anita, I know who you are>

What time for cocktails then? Less than a week to go now grin

juneybean Sat 01-Mar-14 21:14:57

I think you live near me? Place with a monument. I can give you a lift home if necessary but am coming from work on the way there! grin

juneybean Sat 01-Mar-14 21:15:17

Oops that was to anita!

TripTuckerInMyStocking Sat 01-Mar-14 21:31:36

hey Anita, I should've thought to invite you.
I'll stay at yours and we can share a taxi home.
Golden thank you again for your offer, Anita and I are very old friends in RL smile

AnitaBlake Sat 01-Mar-14 22:31:41

Probably better I get more actively involved Trip, it's the push I need!

Hi everyone! Juney, you're right, is there room on the broom for two? Xxx

juneybean Sat 01-Mar-14 22:40:25

There sure is! Got myself a new family wagon!

AnitaBlake Sat 01-Mar-14 23:57:50

Fab-u-lous, thank you so much! Xxx

TripTuckerInMyStocking Sun 02-Mar-14 08:04:50

Thanks Juney!!! Can't wait to see the new motor!!

juneybean Sun 02-Mar-14 10:57:34

Oh my god I'm judging. Sat in soft play and a tiny baby is being offered a twix to lick.....

Indith Sun 02-Mar-14 11:30:37

judge away!

Can I have a pity party?

Dh is away till Monday night bloody football the children have managed to crack the glass on the tablet by fighting. I have to take all 3 of them to a party later. Ds2 has been up intermittently since 3 am and I still have fecking sinusitis so all I actually want to do is curl up in bed.

At least next weekend will be better grin

goldenretriever Sun 02-Mar-14 12:27:00

Spiffy, feeling your pain. Am at soft play for the third time in a week. And OH is also away, but kids seem quite pleased that it is the soft parent they have been left with...

Indith, bussing it in would be fine.

goldenretriever Sun 02-Mar-14 12:27:33

Is he at the match as well golden? Mine is going to be unfeasibly grumpy if they don't win.

The children are now wearing swimming costumes and have made a "pool" out of cushions in the living room. hmm

AnitaBlake Sun 02-Mar-14 14:30:20

We're heading north on account of me having 'married out' of being a Mackem lol. If we lose FIL will definitely be crowing for weeks!

Trip, depending on time either DH will drive us in, or we'll have to slum it on the bus xxx

TripTuckerInMyStocking Sun 02-Mar-14 15:04:48

Hi everyone!
I should be comng, just need to check DH hasn't made us any plans first, can't imagine what!
What time at Capital?
Also, is S coming (sorry, don't know her name on here any more, I suspect she's one of yuou lot below grin)

juneybean Sun 02-Mar-14 17:35:15

Which S? We have two I think!

juneybean Sun 02-Mar-14 17:40:40

Also 8pm at the Capital :D

But what time for cocktails? grin

Oh, I'm going to have a grumpy husband.

Indith Sun 02-Mar-14 18:12:21

Do you mean S with D and K? That's Trip?

Indith Mon 03-Mar-14 14:27:33

I'm not sure about this going away without children thing. I'm bored! mum doing well, follow up is Wed so fingers crossed. But dad has gone out for his daily walk, mum out for lunch with a friend, I've hovered and dusted. DUSTED! I don't do that at home. I've expressed a gallon of milk they I've had to pour down the sink as the only one who drinks it is ds1 and I can be arsed to take it back in a cool box for a 7 year old. Humph.

What do I do now?

Am going to go to the botanics on Wed by the way with ds2. It will be his birthday so I will let him run wild, feed the fish then eat cake if anyone wants to join us.

golden I'm scared. There are now 2 of the girls on my course pregnant. 2! If all the oxytocin exposure of labour ward leads to pregnancy then I'm going to quit. better bloody not be me next. Am now on pill until dh gets done and has his all clear.

What time for cocktails? table for 8pm isn't it so do we want to say 6 for the chance to relax and chat over drinks instead of rushing them? Could potentially try whisky river instead of ebony, might be a bit quieter and supposed to be nice though I've never been.

Dusting?! You definitely need a night out!

Would love to come and play at botanics but I'm off to London, then Taunton (Taunton FFS) on wed. Hope a has a lovely day.

Whisky river you say? <heads off to google>

juneybean Mon 03-Mar-14 20:15:36

What time are you going to the botanics? I might be able to come in the AM (depending on whether we're going to the art gallery!)

Also I need to arrange another Washington meet and need you guys to make up the numbers, any one available towards the end of the month?

Indith Mon 03-Mar-14 20:31:21

Yes it will be morning, around 10. I'm back at uni last week of the month but I'm around until then.

juneybean Tue 04-Mar-14 10:05:18

I'm gonna pencil 17th March for coffee at Miss Tina's at 10am (not far from the A1)

TripTuckerInMyStocking Tue 04-Mar-14 10:27:56

yes I should be able to make that

goldenretriever Tue 04-Mar-14 20:34:15

Two up the duff, Indith? That seems frightening odds. I have done my online registration gubbins.

Fat and bloated after 6 pancakes. 6pm sounds good for cocktails. Whiskey river definitely is a good bar.

Indith Tue 04-Mar-14 20:40:39

exciting golden!

Shall we get a bus at Erm, something past 5 then?

Whisky river does bellinis. I'm fine with going there grin

AnitaBlake Wed 05-Mar-14 15:44:36

No woo-woos! Will have to find another drink lol

TripTuckerInMyStocking Wed 05-Mar-14 15:50:52

I'll come to yours about 4.30, Anita? IS that okay with you or too early?

Indith Wed 05-Mar-14 16:54:12

I'm not going to say ask the old school reading books are inappropriate but the one about the horse that gets drunk on rotten apples and goes to sleep, really?

AnitaBlake Wed 05-Mar-14 19:38:58

Yeah should be fine Trip, I'm lunching with the ladies on sat, that usually finishes around 3, and if we're out early doors DH he'll drive smile

I'm sorryI'm not going to be able to make Saturday. Hope you all have fun smile

juneybean Thu 06-Mar-14 09:34:18

Aww hope we see you soon though!

Indith Thu 06-Mar-14 11:48:04

sad spb. When are you around for a catch up? With or without offspring.

Indith Thu 06-Mar-14 19:08:15

so official details.

Meet from 6pm whisky River. Have plenty of time so if rubbish and bellinis not up to scratch for spiggy can go back to ebony.

meal booked for 8pm at the Capital.

sad you won't be there SPB.

But woo yay for a night out. grin

goldenretriever Thu 06-Mar-14 20:19:33

Indith, buses at 'the pub' around 5.17 or 5.38. Whaddya reckon? Think first bus would get us in around 20 to 6.

Indith Thu 06-Mar-14 20:24:09

I don't mind golden, second one probably fine isn't it?

goldenretriever Fri 07-Mar-14 07:26:00

Indith, second bus would be fine. Got mixed up a bit, it is 5.33 at pub to get in around 5.53. Just let me know if you want to change it.Saw you through the trees (which sounds dodgy) yesterday while walking a small pirate to Nursery. Another child had the same costume on. How terribly awkward for them!

Eeee, not long now!

Indith Fri 07-Mar-14 08:07:48

5.33 ok, I shall be on that one, probably get on at the stop nearest to me though. Hurrah!

DuPainDuVinDuFromage Fri 07-Mar-14 08:58:11

Hi all, I'll meet you at the restaurant - hope I'll remember what Indith looks like having met her very briefly once, otherwise should I just head for the loudest table??

I'm quite nervous, it's like a blind date...looking forward to it though!

Indith Fri 07-Mar-14 12:31:11

Have messaged you Juney's name as she booked. Did I give you my mobile number for the book?

DuPainDuVinDuFromage Sat 08-Mar-14 17:33:57

Just seen your post, sorry - yes I've checked and I do have your number, thanks!

juneybean Sat 08-Mar-14 23:47:27

Sorry juney sad .

juneybean Thu 13-Mar-14 14:45:00

Thanks loves xxxx

Indith Thu 13-Mar-14 14:57:31

Indeed spiggy. Jan babies are fab. Christmas ones are trouble grin

think ds2 has been spending too much time with his sister. upon seeing horse poo on the walk to school he exclaimed "dinosaur poo!"

Argh was trying to post from the train and it kept saying it didn't work!

VikingLady Thu 13-Mar-14 22:53:50

Oh ffs. My mooncup is full of chewed date. How the hell did DD climb up to get it, fill it and put it back? She must have climbed from the toilet into the sink and back again!

I guess I just answered my own question.

Ffs why? Just why?!

Viking, that is completely revolting but have made me grin grin grin grin grin this morning.

Indith Fri 14-Mar-14 07:43:09

grin grin grin grin grin grin

VikingLady Fri 14-Mar-14 22:04:32

I hadn't expected the random acts of insanity that would be committed by a toddler of my very own! Today she carefully filled one of DH's work boots with cat food and the other with pennies.

Bless. She had her "concentrating" face on.

juneybean Sat 15-Mar-14 12:54:00

grin kids eh?! Do I take it you're using the mooncup?

I'm looking forward to cake on Monday!

Yey! So am I :D

Indith Sun 16-Mar-14 07:34:09

I look like I've been beaten up. Yesterday I clunked my head on the table bending down to pick random bits of discarded food up so I have a lovely egg on my forehead then this morning dh was passing me the baby in bed and managed to drop him head first onto my eye socket which is now swollen and purple. Lovely.

Dcs are going to the CM Monday and Tues for me to get my notes sorted and get going on reading for next year. Enjoy the cake envy. I want Millies Cookies right now. Will have to make some of my cookies instead. Went to the Metro Centre for shoes for the boy

Advert Soled for Kids in the Village in the Metro is wonderful. The mobile shoes lady who we have used for a while is no longer mobile and has a shop. She stocks mainly Hush Puppies and Startrite but is expanding bit by bit as the business grows. He fitting is wonderful, especially if you have dcs with tricky feet or wide feet. Everything she stocks and sells is about getting a really, really good fit and good quality shoes.

Anyway we parked by the Red Mall so we could go to the Lego Shop which meant we walked passed Millies. I offered to buy a bag of 4 cookies to share for snack but chocolate hating ds1 wouldn't be convinced and then dd and ds2 saw the cookies on lolly stick and dug their heels in. By the time I had bought them one of those each and got ds1 a jam doughnut from Gregg's I couldn't really justify getting myself some cookies too.

It is a very sad story.

I have been awake since 5.15am.

Bloody baby.

Must make breakfast.

Dh and his poor sliced up scrotum is going to owe me big time grin

(He had his vasectomy)

Oh what a rubbish day!!
Hope your DH has a speedy recovery smile

AnitaBlake Sun 16-Mar-14 19:55:37

So excited for cake tomorrow :D

juneybean Sun 16-Mar-14 21:09:09

My newbie isn't coming, they're a teacher so can't do days! But I'm going to point them to this thread for our next night out! :D

goldenretriever Mon 17-Mar-14 11:14:46

Hurrah for vasectomies!

Indith Mon 17-Mar-14 20:59:43

Don't cheer too much golden, our future careers rather count on men NOT having vastectomies grin.

Apparently the key is to remain well supported. He spent yesterday in his rowing lycra over tight underwear. He has been spouting various theories about his balls now no longer being actually attached to anything I'm smiling and nodding and secretly pondering male biology and what will actually come out now. Clearly sperm and the fluid must come form separate places. This is not something I have ever really previously considered hmm.

Having seen one on a friend's FB I have ordered myself some anatomy and physiology colouring in books grin. Am very excited! And not because they might answer the above question!

Indith Mon 17-Mar-14 21:02:11

Oooh google images actually full of biological drawings and not random scrotums.

juneybean Mon 17-Mar-14 22:54:37

Last year in June I could have told you everything about the make up sperm... alas as soon as I took the biology exam I promptly forgot everything.

The colouring in books sound fascinating!

Indith Tue 18-Mar-14 10:25:41

Indith Sun 23-Mar-14 20:11:23

Good luck golden! Have a great day tomorrow.

Indith Fri 04-Apr-14 16:32:19

What we doing then? Need to sort out some meet ups. Have Durham schools broken up yet? DS's school broke up today.

Indith Fri 04-Apr-14 18:33:11

most have. Mine have not, some Catholic schools have changed the holiday for religious reasons. Kids are dead on their feet though, even dd nearly fell asleep in the 5 min car journey back to the cm house after school. I am not thanking school for giving us am extra long term!

my cm is moving to Canada so I'm having fun and games trying to find a new one.

Indith Sat 05-Apr-14 15:53:30

oh ffs Trip and Anita I'm very close to being very rude and strangling someone on your play it forwards group. She asked for something and asked if I can drop off. fine, she is only in the next village. But she had sent me 4 bloody messages so far demanding to know when I'll be dropping it off. Yeah love I'll just drop everything for you because I have no life or commitments. angry angry angry angry angry angry .I hate rude people. If I didn't want rid of it is pretend dd had had a change of heat.

Oh that is ridiculous!! Tell her she'll have to pick the bloody thing up herself!!!
Bad news about the CM!

Hulloooooo! This fell off my threads and I've only just got round to adding it back on.

How is everyone? Got your uniform golden? Argh about the cm Indith. Had any luck with finding a new one?

Indith Wed 09-Apr-14 20:15:31

Right then. The second week of my school holidays (which is probably after all of yours have gone back to school) I am only in uni one day so on either the 22nd or the 25th April I am going to liberate my children from the childminder and take them out somewhere. Don't know where, maybe Beamish, possibly Gibside, or I might just end up in the Botanics because William keeps asking to go. I've not looked to see if their Easter activities are over the standard holidays or if there will still be stuff on. Somewhere fun anyway and hopefully not too rammed since most people will be back at school. Don't know what the rest of you are doing but I'm open to suggestion.

Beamish and Gibside are a bit far for me,but if you're going to the Botanics I'll come up with DD.

juneybean Thu 10-Apr-14 15:24:34

We're going to Beamish next week but it's probably Wednesday rather than Friday ... but if you were definitely going I could rearrange for Friday!

Botanics might be nice if the weather keeps nice?

Indith Fri 11-Apr-14 21:10:50

I shall keep you all posted smile

juney how are things going?

Ooh, ooh. I was going to ask that as well!

juneybean Sat 12-Apr-14 00:36:32

Blahh had some family problems this month which caused AF to be a week late so I decided to wait until May so I'm calm as a cucumber -floats- only 5 weeks to wait... argh!

Indith Sat 12-Apr-14 10:11:42

Deep breaths juney!

Well we have a childminder I think. Sheer dumb luck someone local is in the process of registering. Seems nice enough. I'm not 100% happy and over the moon but I don't really have a choice. She has worked in nurseries etc for 10 years and been deputy manager in the last one she was at so I'm sure she will be all fine with safety, documentation and all that.

There is/was a local nanny looking for work. Self employed and paid by the hour. Would have worked out about the same as a full time nursery place for ds2 and a CM for the big ones. She also cleans. I so wish we could go with her! But sadly it is rather more expensive than the CM alone and given that there are plenty of days when both dh and I are working from home and we only have space for one desk tucked away upstairs having the dcs cared for in the home is jsut not practical, we really need them out of the house.

But she cleans! As part of her normal duties!

juneybean Sat 12-Apr-14 11:57:55

Which nursery did she work in?? (PM if you like)

Pity about the nanny sad

Indith Sat 12-Apr-14 12:19:10

Have sent you a PM.

The nanny sounds lovely, ideal really. It is just the fact that we are often both at home and so one is in the study upstairs and the other in the dining room so really cna't have the kids being cared for at home. Sometimes we've had mum looking after them and it has been a nightmare with one of us setting up camp on our bed or something but it jsut doesn't work, we end up having to hide from them, going for a wee or to get a cup of tea is a nightmare because you end up with ds2 hanging round your legs.

But I really wish I could employ her. I don't like having that niggling feeling in my gut when it comes to my dc's childcare. But what choice do I have?

juneybean Sat 12-Apr-14 17:09:10

If she's self-employed would it not work out cheaper as she'd be pay as you go (pretty much like me and my families? They tell me what hours they need me and they only pay me for those)

Just with you doing shifts and all?

Indith Sat 12-Apr-14 18:16:58

No, I've done the figures. She'd be £8 per hour in the day and £10 when all 3 children are here. I'd still need her on days off when on placement as I have assignments to do then too.

juneybean Sat 12-Apr-14 20:41:41

Bit hmm at her charging more for 3 children, nannies get paid by the family...

Indith Sun 13-Apr-14 13:36:00

Oh dear Lord. mil and dh are going to meet up somewhere between us and her next week since dh will be off with the dcs. She doesn't want to go to brimham rocks because the dcs will want to climb hmm . silly me thinking that was the whole point.

VikingLady Sun 13-Apr-14 19:51:21

Indith The DCs will want to climb? You mean they will want to be children? The horror!

Sorry. I'm on my second large glass of wine of the evening after childless friends have gone home. At last. They only stayed one night, but it was waaaaay too long. They don't believe in extended/natural term bf, think DD is badly behaved and spoilt because we indulge her - kindly understood as she is an only. FFS. We went to the park today and took our time so she could pick daisies and dandelions and fill her pockets with interesting stones and so on, since we had nothing else to do today. We also didn't hold her reins as we don't need to (they are a threat, mainly). Apparently their DNs all walk to heel.

I cannot WAIT until they breed. I wish them totally hyperactive toddlers who only say "No!".

VikingLady Sun 13-Apr-14 19:52:18

DD is only just 2, BTW! And she didn't sit at the table and eat a full meal whilst they were here. I think she was picking up on the tension.....

The visitors used to be our best friends. I doubt we'll see much of them in future.

VikingLady Sun 13-Apr-14 19:53:23

Indith Could you do your assignments in the university library instead? Or at least when your DH is home? A lot of people do, and you still have unlimited internet, quiet loo visits etc.

Indith Sun 13-Apr-14 20:15:48

Life changes doesn't it. Childless people don't have a clue about life with children. Don't get me wrong, I have some lovely childless friends. But I also have a lot who used to be close friends who have drifted away.

Uni library is great but at hour away, 2 hours in traffic. And it isn't just when I'm in a uni block, it is doing work when on a day off on placement and while I could go into uni it doens't really appeal on a day off between 13 hour shifts. And then there are the days I'm sleeping after nights.

I'm struggling to behave. Someone on MID has posted a picture of their new tattoo. They got Gary Barlow to sign their arm then took themselves straight off to a tattoo place to get it made a permanent fixture. Can you imagine the response a thread like that would get on here?

VikingLady Sun 13-Apr-14 21:39:57

I'm obviously not suggesting anything about GB (I'm really not!) but having a tattoo of ANYONE famous is dodgy ground - what if they do something you don't like?

I do wonder what people with Gary Glitter tattoos did about them.

VikingLady Sun 13-Apr-14 23:11:58

Indith Councils are training up a lot of new childminders right now, ready for the increased 2yo free provision, so the minder you pick now doesn't have to be permanent. I know round us there's a new cohort of 10ish two or three times per year, and many have previous childcare experience

juneybean Tue 15-Apr-14 14:28:36

Any one free for coffee in Durham on 25th April morning?

/ pops head up /

I could do 25th.

VikingLady Tue 15-Apr-14 17:08:26

I can!

Arse. Am in London <sulks>

if I'm not back before then- good luck for mid may juney. Will be keeping my fingers crossed.

sad I can't do Fridays I'm afraid. I've swapped DD's nursery days to Tuesday and Fridays to help out a new bfing group on a Friday.

juneybean Sun 20-Apr-14 18:22:17

Aww boo trip sad

Thanks spiggy!

Can I pencil in 10am at Slug for any one that can make it?

juneybean Tue 22-Apr-14 14:42:35

I made a blog about my journey if anyone fancies reading such things?!

VikingLady Wed 23-Apr-14 21:17:18

10am at the Slug. Good. It's on the calendar. God knows how DD will behave, but if she is an absolute nightmare (just hit terrible twos/ASD really starting to develop) I'll bow out early/lock her in a toilet cubicle/something.

I may have wine grin

Damnit, A was off nursery unwell on Tueday and I'm way behind on work, and J has buggered his back so no hope of an evening off to catch up with work. Slug is too far from office to justify tomorrow alas.

VikingLady Fri 25-Apr-14 07:52:03

Still just 2 of us?

Indith Fri 25-Apr-14 09:35:42

I'm ending up at the botanics this morning with the oiks! Can't face all 3 of them at the slug. If you fancy changing location though that's where we'll be. smile .

VikingLady Fri 25-Apr-14 17:34:45

If we'd seen it in time! The Slug has a kids section now with drawing stuff and a play tent smile

But there was no coffee. I feel an epic complaints letter coming on....

Indith Fri 25-Apr-14 18:47:22

play area sounds lovely. We had a good explore. ds2 has a lovely temp now sad

VikingLady Sat 26-Apr-14 19:30:54

Is anyone thinking about a Botanics meet up at some point?

juneybean Mon 28-Apr-14 22:37:36

Fingers crossed, think I'm going to put an offer on a house for me and babybean tomorrow shock

So scared that'll offend the lovely old couple because I'm going to start cheekily low...

Good luck, Juney!!

Viking - how about next week? I could do Wednesday or Thursday?

juneybean Tue 06-May-14 19:38:33

Blah didn't offer, because mortgage advisor started reneging on everything she told me. Tis stressful this....

However am on track for upduffing next week!

OOh shall keep my fingers crossed for you!!

Indith Thu 08-May-14 19:41:23

rubbish about the house juney. Fingers crossed for the becoming upduffed! Very exciting!

juneybean Mon 12-May-14 14:02:47

Indith Mon 12-May-14 17:01:06

Indith Tue 13-May-14 16:13:14

How did it go?

juneybean Tue 13-May-14 17:37:19

Indith Tue 13-May-14 17:44:32

eeeeeek! hope it works!

Fingers crossed - sending you sticky vibes!!

Oo, excellent news Juney!

VikingLady Wed 14-May-14 21:03:59

Excellent - good luck!

Indith Fri 16-May-14 11:32:11

This is going to be the longest 2ww in history.

How are you feeling juney?

Oooooooh! Fingers crossed for you juney.

When you going to start poas then?!

juneybean Fri 16-May-14 17:16:43

<eyes two already in the bin> ... in my defence i was checking the hcg had LEFT my system from the trigger shot...

but going to buy some proper ones next week as i think my onestep ones are out of date!

I have a soft spot for superdrug own brand twin packs, showed up nice and early with them. I dread to think how much money I have spent on then over the years though.

Indith Fri 16-May-14 20:45:32

juneybean Sat 17-May-14 15:21:20

Have acquired packet of superdrug own brand! Will try and get to at least a week past ovulation haha

Any news juney? I had a dream last night that you were telling us about your first scan twins!!!

juneybean Fri 23-May-14 08:30:34

Well stupidly POAS today and it was negative, prior is due Monday but I do feel out of the game. Boobs have hurt since last week are starting to ease up! Boohoo. But I'll see what next week brings!

Boo. But its not over yet. Will keep my fingers and toes crossed for you.

Ditto! Don't give up hope yet!

juneybean Fri 23-May-14 19:59:16

Thanks loves! We definitely need cake soon!

Indith Sat 24-May-14 15:56:57

Oh juney I'mm still keeping it all crossed for you my dear.

juneybean Sat 24-May-14 23:35:14

Got a period! Bah!

goldenretriever1978 Sun 25-May-14 07:29:09

Ah, Juney. Sorry to hear that. Hope you don't give up x

Indith Sun 25-May-14 10:00:56

I'm sorry juney. Do yiu get another shot with the shown you have or was it just one dose? You will Hey there x

juneybean Sun 25-May-14 10:14:49

I've got two more vials left yet so will try again in July I think!

So sorry juney. Fingers crossed for July

sad Maybe next time's the charm?

Spring babies are lovely!

DanaBarrett Mon 26-May-14 23:27:27

Are you sure it was a period Juney? Both times with mine I had implantation bleeds......

Btw, tis I, <raises spectacles> M x

LOL, I know who you are :D

juneybean Tue 27-May-14 10:20:44

Tis absolutely a period haha haven't stopped bleeding since Saturday! AF really hates me apparently!

It's all good, going away for a few nights with a friend so will medicate with wine!

juneybean Tue 27-May-14 10:21:52

Need to arrange some meet ups but wonder if S & M (ooer) fancy Miss Tina's sometime? (and of course any one else who can get there!)

Thinking about a botanics one soon as well?

Boo for aunt flo. Did they give you tips for, ahem, encouraging it to get where it needs to be?

Indith Tue 27-May-14 10:31:05

sad. Much love juney x

I'm up for a meet of some sort deadlines/study/shifts permitting.

juneybean Tue 27-May-14 10:34:05

Well they put it where it needs to be so that's out of my hands grin I just lie down for 15 minutes then abstain from exercise (lol!) and hot baths.

Then in my head I'm thinking should I try a round of IVF but jesus that could be nearly £5k.... which I have but it'd scupper house buying (I can rent?)

Indith Tue 27-May-14 11:06:53

IVT isn't an automatic win either though, far from it. Most people shagging in traditional style take more than one cycle to conceive even when charting and doing it at ovulation etc so while your not getting pg first time is hugely disappointing for you it isn't surprising either. My feeling would be to try again with the vials you have, sticking with less invasive methods. You are young, you have time on your side to take a break , buy a house and get yourself settled and save up for IVF if it doesn't work.

Gosh isn't that all horrible and logical? I'd much rather give you a hug and buy you cake cake brew thanks.

juneybean Tue 27-May-14 11:32:46

Yeah that's true, I will see how I get on, my coordinator said most single women/lesbians do conceive within 3 goes so fingers crossed!

DanaBarrett Tue 27-May-14 19:13:25

Always up for a trip to Miss Tina's

Ditto... only days I can do though are Wednesdays and Thursdays.
Dana are you still off?

Forgot to say, Dana, started potty training DD today, been using that Potty Time app you recommend, she keeps asking to call Rachel :D

DanaBarrett Fri 30-May-14 20:42:43

Lol cool! We loved Rachel!

Indith Thu 05-Jun-14 09:45:27

I need cocktails

goldenretriever1978 Thu 05-Jun-14 19:55:14

I really need cocktails.

Indith Thu 05-Jun-14 20:17:45

You've not even done a week yet! How is it going?

Long shifts to tomorrow and Saturday. Sunday off then long shift again on Monday for my first day of iccu.

goldenretriever1978 Sat 07-Jun-14 11:46:54

Unfortunately, the three people who I was with this week both had an unusually horrendous case to deal with, so managed to get the horrors triple fold. However, my thinking is that if I have survived this first week and am relatively positive and upbeat, then this is a good sign!

Cocktails you say? Indith we could celebrate the end of your
delightful placement!

Indith Sat 07-Jun-14 21:44:05

baptism of fire. congratulations on your survival x

This fell off my tio so was just getting it back when I spotted the magic cocktail word!

Can I add my name to the neeed a cocktail list?

Golden, I hope that things for better after your baptism of fire.

Juney, how are your plans going? Still aiming for July?

juneybean Sun 22-Jun-14 14:11:33

Well still waiting for period this month, it was due Friday. But have had an offer accepted on a house....! So might wait until august as I suspect the stress is what's made me late.

Desperately hoping Halifax will lend me the money I need. They won't take any of my self-employed income into account sad

Fingers crossed for a successful.August on both counts. House buying is a nightmare, hope you get it all sorted quickly so we can all come round for a house warming soon

Fingers crossed on both accounts!

juneybean Tue 24-Jun-14 15:41:15

Thanks lovelies! I bought a rug today (or rather my mother did)! grin

I can't really spend much money at the minute (in anticipation of having my bank scrutinised) but I'd like to see you people soon, shall we plan something? It's my birthday in July?

goldenretriever1978 Tue 24-Jun-14 17:23:23

Fingers crossed Juney and hurray for July birthday celebrations!

July would be good. grin

LocalEditorDurham Wed 25-Jun-14 08:08:16

Hello, sorry to barge in. I just wanted to say hi, and let you all know about a competition on Local for cricket tickets (family ticket 2+2). It closes today so if you'd like to be in with a chance, pop on over. local.mumsnet.com/durham

It has been very quiet on Local, but I have been in as editor for a couple of months now and it is starting to pick up. We have lots of what's on listings and not much chat yet I'd love to come along if you have a meet up in July. Before I was local ed I always seemed to be busy or see the thread just after a meet up.

DuPainDuVinDuFromage Thu 26-Jun-14 14:24:28

Hello LocalEd!

Fingers crossed for you Juney!

I would be up for a July meet-up too smile

We'll have to have a night out now!

Although I promise to be more restrained than I was last night. Went to a leaving do and made it back to my hotel at 2.30 am. Today has been a looong day. grin

Indith Sat 28-Jun-14 17:33:49

I've finished my nursing placement! huzzah!

Just a very full on uni block and a few wee small deadlines I have no idea how I'm going to meet to get through before holiday in August.

Yes. Yes we do need cocktails.

juney hope house etc goes well.

local editor person thing we shall attempt to do better on local. Hope to see you at meet up soon.

LocalEditorDurham Sat 28-Jun-14 19:33:54

Thank you Indith thanks - I'll keep an eye on the thread and hopefully will be able to make the next meet up

MeetTheElements Sat 28-Jun-14 20:19:12

juneybean Wed 02-Jul-14 11:44:20

Never been so stressed in all my life. I don't like my mortgage advisor, estate agents are taking the piss. I don't want a house anymore, I just want a box.

IAmAPaleontologist Wed 02-Jul-14 13:03:55

house buying is evil. I never want to do it ever again. except I wouldn't mind a bigger househmm .

Worth it though.

LocalEditorDurham Wed 02-Jul-14 13:36:18

It is an awful experience. But it is a bit like childbirth - you'll forget the bad bits once it is over and move house again / have more children / or even do both at the same time

juneybean Thu 03-Jul-14 15:55:55

Fingers crossed juney, the house looks awesome.

can I start planning the house warming party?

juneybean Thu 03-Jul-14 16:47:17

YES! Need to have the party whilst the old carpets are down. No one is coming to visit once the new carpets are in wink

IAmAPaleontologist Thu 03-Jul-14 16:55:12

Old lady house?

Looks fab, lovely sized rooms and not too much to do apart from change the carpets.

juneybean Thu 03-Jul-14 17:23:37

Yus! She died in February I think (not in the house! I checked!)

IAmAPaleontologist Thu 03-Jul-14 17:26:05

We viewed one once where I am sure the person must have died in the house. Recently too. There were dirty sheets bundled up with suspicious stains on on a bed and other stuff. Urgh. We did not but that house!

I must lack emotion be well hard because that sort of thing doesn't bother me. I think the lady who owned this house before us died here. And dh's grandparents died in our old house. But I had babies born in each house so that kind of cancels it out in my head!

In fact Dd was born on the exact spot her great grandmother died. <pointless fact of the day>

IAmAPaleontologist Thu 03-Jul-14 18:28:52

It wasn't so much the passing away in the house as the sheets. Sheets that look like bodily fluids have leaked all over them are not nice. And I've done a stint in ICCU. Including doing not nice things to dead bodies.

juneybean Thu 03-Jul-14 18:38:52

I'm just a big scaredy cat grin I'd be worried her ghost was hanging around or something...

IAmAPaleontologist Thu 03-Jul-14 18:46:52

By not nice I don't mean not nice to the bodies by the way, always nice and respectful to them. Jsut not nice for a student who is thinking "what the hell and I doing working here?"

DuPainDuVinDuFromage Thu 03-Jul-14 21:13:48

Spiffy, that's rather nice about your DD and her great-grandmother - the continuity of it smile

But Eurghh to the sheets that paleontologist saw...sounds nasty! I'm with you Juney, I would feel a bit creeped out! Best of luck with getting the house!

Woohoo over house, I shall keep my fingers crossed!

juneybean Thu 03-Jul-14 22:35:38

Hopefully can get on the babymaking soon (if I have any money left... <checks pockets>)

juneybean Thu 10-Jul-14 17:48:47

Eeeek mortgage has been approved!

VikingLady Thu 10-Jul-14 18:06:45

Yay juney!

IAmAPaleontologist Thu 10-Jul-14 19:08:22

IAmAPaleontologist Tue 15-Jul-14 18:55:22

ds2 has worked out how to retract his foreskin.

Oh the joys of boys.

He is playing peekaboo with it.

juneybean Tue 15-Jul-14 19:34:49

grin awesome

VikingLady Wed 16-Jul-14 22:52:29

How nice - he has a hobby!

IAmAPaleontologist Sat 19-Jul-14 14:10:05

Saw the lovely DuPainDuVin this morning. We need a meet up!

juneybean Sat 19-Jul-14 17:36:19

Ohh I was thinking about DuPain the other day, she's due in august isn't she?

IAmAPaleontologist Sat 19-Jul-14 18:46:26

She is looking fabulous. The amazing no weight on anywhere other than having a beach ball up your dress look envy . She said she would come to a meet unless she was in labour so we need to organise one grin .

juneybean Sat 19-Jul-14 18:51:00

Peering at my diary I could do 26th July evening although I realise that's pretty last minute!

Daytimes, botanics on Wednesday 23rd or 30th morning ?

Or I can do 9th August or 16th August evening

DuPainDuVinDuFromage Sun 20-Jul-14 20:47:54

Ha, thanks Paleontologist! grin I have been stuffing myself with chocolate and pasta for 9 months so feel enormous all over...in fact am chomping on dairy milk as I type grin

I can do 23rd and 30th; can also probably do the evening of the 26th but would have to check that dh doesn't have anything on. Will be a little too busy to make either of the August dates!

IAmAPaleontologist Sun 20-Jul-14 22:00:26

I don't finish uni until the 29th and I'm at a study day on the 30th sad . Then my freedom begins.

Can't do evening of the 26th as we'll be in Manchester.

juneybean Sun 20-Jul-14 22:06:57

Oh boo sad

DuPain when is your due date?

I'll have my 6 & 4 year olds on the 23rd/30th so if you'd rather do a child-free day meet DuPain I'll find different dates grin

DuPainDuVinDuFromage Mon 21-Jul-14 08:37:02

I have a date for my c section but am being a bit coy about telling people exactly when it is as I have a couple of friends who would be texting me asking if I've had it yet from about 6am on the day if I told them! But suffice to say that the first week of August should be ok - although I have a few other things on that week so might not be able to manage some days.

I won't be child-free anyway as will have DD with me so happy to do 23rd or 30th, or some time in the next week subject to availability! smile

juneybean Mon 21-Jul-14 18:32:47

I'll try and confirm tomorrow afternoon for 23rd July morning at Botanics otherwise we'll go with 30th?

juneybean Tue 22-Jul-14 14:54:21

Let's go with 30th July morning at Botanics.

DuPainDuVinDuFromage Tue 22-Jul-14 15:13:53

Ok that's fine with me! What time is good for you? Is it just the two of us (plus kids) or does anyone else fancy coming?

juneybean Tue 22-Jul-14 16:01:05

Let's go for 10.30am? We will probably bring a packed lunch.

Everyone is welcome! grin

Quick placemark but might be able to do 30th. If not, I have THREE WHOLE WEEKS off in August. (can you tell I'm exited?!)

IAmAPaleontologist Tue 22-Jul-14 20:36:14

me too spiggy!

Anyone for gibside? different activities on every day as usual.

Sounds like a plan. smile

Am off from the 4th, apart from the 7th when I'm likely to be interviewing. Hoping to have the 3rd week off with dh as well.

Can't make the 30th as I'm away on my hols... will be back on the 14th.

IAmAPaleontologist Wed 23-Jul-14 16:12:21

Well I have nothing in the diary yet for week beginning the 4th so what shall we do?

Run away from the children and lie in the sun drinking cocktails? grin

IAmAPaleontologist Wed 23-Jul-14 17:26:28

That's what I'm doing on Tuesday grin .

Apparently I am spending the rest of the summer doing the whole quality time thing.

Though somewhere we can mainly ignore them while they play would be good.

IAmAPaleontologist Fri 25-Jul-14 18:46:23

My week is filling up in my attempts to see everybody I don't see for months on end. so what days ate people free week starting the 4th? Am busy Mon am and Fri pm at the moment with a few other bits and bobs pending.

juneybean Fri 25-Jul-14 18:49:16

Am potentially upduffing on 4th... but possibly can do 5th or 6th or 8th?

Also free 9th evening (did I mention that last week?)

Tues and Wed good for me!

And can do the 9th grin

goldenretriever1978 Sat 26-Jul-14 10:49:28

Oooh, potential upduffing... Free on the 8th pm and evening, mayhem that week.

IAmAPaleontologist Sun 27-Jul-14 10:52:43

exciting! fingers crossed all goes well juney.

Right, well I am now meeting a uni friend and her new squish on Tues at the botanics. on wed I have a date with my now ex childminder sad . On the 8th I'm off to the beach with our foxy lurker in the evening though would be able to do something in the day.

I can ask dh about the 9th, not sure how well it would go down considering the amount of social life I'm trying to pack in to theer couple of weeks and I'm abandoning him overnight for a study day next week grin . I'm going to sleeeeeeeeeeeeeeep! Oh and listen to a leading expert talk about Waterbirth.

I really should log on more often.

Just spent a week in CP down south, and after an afternoon in the spa, I have decided that we should have our next cocktail night in a hot tub. I'll let someone else figure out the details... wink

juneybean Mon 28-Jul-14 16:45:53

Seaham hall does cocktails in a hot tub!

BTW botanics is still on for Wednesday at 10.30am think there are three of us going so far

Can't come to botanics this time. sad

But liking the sound of cocktails in a hot tub grin . I'd got all excited about a conference I'm going to in Dec as there is a sauna and pool in the hotel so bought a new costume. Till my friend pointed out that the hotel will be filled with our colleagues. Not a bunch of people who would come top in a list of people I'd 1) like to see in a pair of speedos 2) like to see me in a bikini.

IAmAPaleontologist Mon 28-Jul-14 19:09:35

cocktails in a hot tub? Brilliant!

dh said the evening of the 9th could be possible grin .

Did I mention I'm going away tomorrow for the night? With my very own hotel room? And no children?

You're All different, think I have paleantologist figured out (thpugh not why)

Erm I don't know who dupain is but she's pregnant! Congratulations grin
(Wracking brains)

H and spiggy I am in London loadsbetween sete, ber and Christmas we must meet up
(Ignoring the fact that you live half an hour away from me grin)

IAmAPaleontologist Mon 28-Jul-14 19:19:52

a combination of dd and spending far too much time listening to "I am a paleontologist" by "they might be giants" SPB.

I'm trying to think of you have met du pain, she is lovely, came on our last night out but don't think you did.

Did we ever decide a day or are we completely missing each other these holidays? I miss my polar bear friend!

Ooh stealth, will you be staying overnight? Haven't got anything booked for London at the moment but I'm bound to be there at some point. Let me know when you are down, I could even time my meetings to coincide grin

Any particular reason for the hotel room on your own? Or just a treat?

Yes what is the occasion fossily one? Not spelling that again!
I don't think we did, mine are away this week, next week if yourearoundi could pick them up a bit early from childminders and meet you in park for a late play on wed or thur. Are you free. Other than that ill have to find a weekend, sorry I'm being so awkward
Spiggy i am just down for various events though now I think about it I also have a Bristol and Birmingham, in there that I have lumped into the "in London" part of ,y brain (they're all down south!) I will look at my diary and have my people call your people ;)

Ooh I have a Birmingham one as well!

Mine is sometime round end of sept beginning ofoctober

24th sept for me I think.

IAmAPaleontologist Mon 28-Jul-14 20:57:13

Waterbirth study day down in Huddersfield. Early start on Wednesday morning so a group of us are driving down straight from uni tomorrow. We finish at 12 so even after driving down should have ample time for pub, a decent meal to soak up alcohol and a nice early night to be able to start the day sober and hangover free grin. Not that I am planning on getting pished at all really, not wasting the study day, it should be fab! But nice to think that I could in theory get drunk without children to face in the morning or overnight.

Afternoon tea looks lovely Leggy smile

VikingLady Mon 28-Jul-14 21:55:10

Juney If you can still offer me and V a lift, then we are on for Wednesday!

No nights out for me though. Too queasy and tired - cooking DC2! (7w so early days to tell people but quite ludicrously excited)

juneybean Mon 28-Jul-14 21:58:26

grin at dc2

Yes can definitely still offer a lift, I'll try and get to the station for 10.20am!

VikingLady Mon 28-Jul-14 22:10:26

Thank you!

Ongratulaions Viking grin

IAmAPaleontologist Tue 29-Jul-14 07:38:13

Lovely news smile

DuPainDuVinDuFromage Tue 29-Jul-14 13:34:15

Congratulations Viking!

And thanks Stealth - I was the newbie at the curry night a few months ago, not sure if you were there though because I too am a bit dopey on who's who! (I'm clear on Juney and Paleontologist, and have an idea about Viking and Spiffy, but that's about it!)

juneybean Tue 29-Jul-14 13:55:46

I don't think you met Viking, but she's lovely and will be there tomorrow! Spiffy was at the curry night I think? She's lovely also. All the Durham MNers are lovely! I think we got lucky grin

LocalEditorDurham Tue 29-Jul-14 16:23:53

Ah I have done it again - I have plans for tomorrow. Was really looking forward to meeting you all. For some reason the thread fell off my watched thingy again and I thought everyone had just gone quiet / melted in the sun

juneybean Tue 29-Jul-14 16:56:06

Oh that's a pity! sad

I think we're hoping for a night out on the 9th August if you're free?

I'm going to be working at home tomorrow Ithjink as I have mountain of reading to do, so can't make Botanical, but might be free in 9th...

Btw, what are we supposed to do on local? It seemed to suggest I needed a new permanent username when I tried to look so didn't really get further than that.

IAmAPaleontologist Thu 31-Jul-14 18:00:22

I'm going to be at Gibside tomorrow if anyone wants to join me.

I have to go pick up my mum's car after she smashed her tibia and got carted off in an ambulance <<sigh>>. The dcs want to go back and play (she was with them while dh and me were both a few hours away) and I need to go thank the staff etc anyway so we will stay and play for a while. No mobile signal at home so FB rather than text.

juneybean Thu 31-Jul-14 19:50:51

juneybean Thu 31-Jul-14 19:51:21

Oops! What I meant to say is.... Ah tomorrow I'll mostly be getting spermed up.

IAmAPaleontologist Thu 31-Jul-14 20:30:46

grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin sad

IAmAPaleontologist Thu 31-Jul-14 20:31:29

Argh! fat fingers. the sad was not supposed to be there!

juneybean Thu 31-Jul-14 20:33:33

Oh I assumed you were absolutely gutted I'd not be at gibside wink

Fingers crossed for tomorrow juney!

sad for your mum paleontologist. Hope she mends soon.

Thinking fertile thoughts Juney!

Best wishes to Grandma Paleo's leg.

DuPainDuVinDuFromage Fri 01-Aug-14 08:13:59

Best of luck Juney!

And hope your mum is ok Paleontologist.

Was lovely seeing Juney and Viking on Wed! Will bring brand new baby to a future meet-up - probably out of action for August at least but after that I'll try to come!

Go little swimmers!!

juneybean Mon 04-Aug-14 12:55:43

Hope your mum is feeling better!

Any one around this week? Feeling a total negative nancy and need someone to slap me one!

juneybean Mon 04-Aug-14 12:56:06

Oh and client cancelled £300 worth of work so I'm not bored out of my skull for most of August -.-

juneybean Mon 04-Aug-14 12:57:53

Also do we want to do something Saturday night or have we left it last minute again grin

IAmAPaleontologist Mon 04-Aug-14 16:26:39

Who is around Saturday?

Saturday? Meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Does that sound desperate? the first day of the holiday has not been good.

I'm around tues/Wed and can provide friendly slaps and kicks up the backside as required!

juneybean Mon 04-Aug-14 18:01:59

Fancy decaff coffee tomorrow? I can even come to you if it's just us!

Yay Saturday!

IAmAPaleontologist Mon 04-Aug-14 18:28:01

Hell 3 of us can make a night out of it on Saturday can't we?

I will be at the botanics tomorrow meeting up with some of the uni girls but I am free on Wed so far. Somewhere I can unleash the children would be good, they are driving me mad already!

juneybean Mon 04-Aug-14 18:57:59

Ooo Wednesday would work well, I am regrettably childless but as long as there are hot beverages and cake I'm happy!

IAmAPaleontologist Mon 04-Aug-14 19:37:43

I'll lend you a couple. You'll fit right in.

Where? Not a cafe. Just not. Ever. Not with all 3 of them. I miss the baby phase.

juneybean Mon 04-Aug-14 19:43:48

Herrington Park?

VikingLady Mon 04-Aug-14 20:22:49

Wednesday is no-go for me this week, I'm afraid. I do plan to actually make it to more meet ups though!

Somewhere they can run feral free would be excellent. I'll bring cake smile

Hi everyone!
Sorry I'm not able to make Wednesday or Saturday sad but on Thursday we are going on our holidays grin to the Isle of Wight

Hope everyone's well. Why are you a negative nancy juney? I hope it's nothing to do with sperming up?

What's the plan for Saturday? ILs are up so might be able to wangle a night off (three pairs of arms for rocking duty...!)

juneybean Tue 05-Aug-14 14:19:18

StealthPolarBear - negative nancy because I just don't think it's going to work boo!

Saturday - something cheap and cheerful?

What's plan for tomorrow?

IAmAPaleontologist Tue 05-Aug-14 15:45:55

I'm not so sure about tomorrow, I seem to have killed the dcs today and I have a million and one things to do tomorrow involving holiday prep, returning stuff to one shop, picking stuff up from another shop......

Saturday however I am very definitely up for. Meet up at either Whisky River or Ebony and just potter along and see who has space for us? Sure most places could squeeze 3 or 4 of us in couldn't they? Curry, Tapas, whatever really.

IAmAPaleontologist Tue 05-Aug-14 15:46:27

Though tomorrow could work in the afternoon if not too far away.

Have you seen the forecast for tomorrow? It is going to be a bit wet....

IAmAPaleontologist Tue 05-Aug-14 17:32:58

hmmmm do you think I can bribe my children into watching Harry Potter of I give them popcorn?

a dvd afternoon might give me a chance to get sorted too. ...

If you want them out of your hair I'm happy to have them. They can run riot watch dvds and eat popcorn here. I've come to the conclusion that my children are less irritating when other people's are around. Then we can eat cake when you are sorted.

juneybean Tue 05-Aug-14 19:29:25

Ohh I want to watch Harry Potter!

I've never seen it shock

I need to expand the DVD collection to cover proper films.

IAmAPaleontologist Tue 05-Aug-14 21:08:57

Yes the couple of times the big 2 have seen films with actual people in rather than computer graphics they have loved them. I feel the need to start pushing ET and stuff on them. reckon they would love batteries not included.

I have now seen all the films except DH2 which I did record, I recorded them all when on itv but for some reason the stupid box deleted the last one angry . Not as good as the books. The have some moments of brilliance but the books cannot be beaten. I need to read them again.

juneybean Tue 05-Aug-14 21:55:19

I'm currently re-reading them, a third of the way through GoF

IAmAPaleontologist Wed 06-Aug-14 07:15:44

I'm never sure about gof. I love azcaban and then the last 2. I still want another book written around what happened at the school during DH. There are all manner of things I want to know.

IAmAPaleontologist Wed 06-Aug-14 07:17:00

or even azkaban

not had hot chocolate yet. Still asleep.

Diy is bad for you.

Got carried away yesterday and painted a wall in the kitchen (its only needed doing for a year). This morning I can't move my wrist and it bloody hurts. this is after I dropped a paving slab on my foot on Monday.

Think I'll spend the rest of my hols on the sofa. Its safer.

paleo - I have DH2 on blu-rate, and the full set on DVD if you want to borrow them. DH2 has a couple of changes which are really quite annoying, but the battle scenes are just amazing and it's the one film I definitely will watch multiple times.

Spiggy - definitely. On the sofa. Safer for everyone. You're doing them all a favour.

IAmAPaleontologist Fri 08-Aug-14 09:50:54

So what shall we do tomorrow?

IAmAPaleontologist Fri 08-Aug-14 15:42:38

sad sad sad sad sad sad sad

I'm here! Actually I'm hiding in the spare room as dh is at the cricket in Manchester and I've had the kids all day.

Still on for tomorrow?

IAmAPaleontologist Fri 08-Aug-14 21:49:01

Am currently trying to decide if I feel a bit shitty because I'm shattered or if I have good dh's d&v bug.

spiggy I just saw your thermometer confession. You really should stop trying to do things around the house. Have you already forgotten the ladder incident?

I know. I really am safer at work aren't I?

I thought it would be a nice surprise for dh to come back to a bathroom that had been deep cleaned and a whole load of crap chucked
Instead he's coming back to a half cleared bathroom that no one is allowed into while it is being ventilated to be on the safe side. If he gets back, he's currently having the prospect of a night at York station due to flooding...

Meant to say, hope you haven't got d&v.

IAmAPaleontologist Sat 09-Aug-14 11:32:20

No d&v just feel minging. Probably not up to going out sad .

Boo. hope you improve for the last bit of your hols.

Juney, shall we postpone until there's more of us available/well/not grumpy from a trip to the seventh circle of hell ikea?

juneybean Sat 09-Aug-14 15:42:58

Yess that sounds like a plan... I feel nauseous.... ?!

juneybean Sat 09-Aug-14 15:44:17

also feel better soon paleo sad

IAmAPaleontologist Sat 09-Aug-14 15:49:49

Hope you don't feel better soon juney grin .

ikea. urgh. I think I could probably rather enjoy it in my own with a room to redecorate but the other people and the dcs and dh inevitably make it hellish.

Need to start packing for holiday. Want to have a bath and go to bed instead. No hot water because it is summer so the fire isn't on.

Oo, Juney, I hope you don't feel better too!

A has been waking before 10 every evening this week, it's like he knows I was almost going to go out... Anyway, now Aunt Flo is her and I'm suffering a bit.

I love IKEA. There must be so,etching wrong with me...

Ooh juney. Fingers crossed. Hope its a good sign.

I have decided to declutter and get the house on track. we've been here 5 years and its still a tip/building site. Fed up of waiting for dh to build a bookcase I have gone and bought 2 from ikea. Soon my cookery books will have a home. I've cleared out a load of old linen and chucked a host of unused bath stuff. if I'd not had a scan for an unconnected reason this month I'd swear I was upduffed maybe I'm nesting on your behalf juney grin

Oh, and kids and ikea? Use the creche. An hour of childfree decision making!

juneybean Sat 09-Aug-14 16:54:09

I've worked in that creche recently! It's not a bad little place. I cannot believe it's free.

I need to go to Ikea when I get this bloody house. Taking so long!

IAmAPaleontologist Sat 09-Aug-14 16:58:03

We are going to redecorate soon I think/hope. 5 years and I think we are almost sorted with with the major stuff and will be able to decorate and then I can put pictures up which I've been waiting to do so I knew what colours were going where. Might have to go child free to ikea for bits and bobs.

There is a house over the road from us for sale. They have gardens and I think are a bit bigger. We are short of thinking about being interested but only saw the sale board last night and nobody in today and no info online yet so can't nosy!

Any news on the house juney? What's the hold up?

juneybean Sat 09-Aug-14 17:03:48

Solicitors are slowww. I finally received draft contract yesterday so just reading that and signing stuff.

Hopefully get keys by the end of August assuming searches come back promptly!

I always forget which village you're in paleo is it W?

Maybe two happy events in August then grin

Hope it goes smoothy. House buying is nerve wracking.

IAmAPaleontologist Sat 09-Aug-14 18:25:49

Yes me and the polar bear are both in W.

IAmAPaleontologist Sat 09-Aug-14 18:26:29

Hope your house comes through soon. exciting!

DuPainDuVinDuFromage Sun 10-Aug-14 04:56:34

Hello all! Just checking in to say DD2 arrived on Thursday morning, she is small and cute and her big sister is fascinated by her! We got home at lunchtime today - only 48 hours after the section which is much quicker than the EMCS last time. Lovely to be home smile marathon feeding session pretty much non-stop all night...

Good luck Juney, sounds promising! And hope the house is sorted soon too! Also hope everyone else is feeling better soon!

IAmAPaleontologist Sun 10-Aug-14 06:53:47

Congratulations! Lovely news.

juneybean Sun 10-Aug-14 09:11:55

Congratulations!!! Glad to hear all is okay!

VikingLady Wed 13-Aug-14 08:29:15

Congratulations DuPain grin

How are you doing juney? Poas yet?!

juneybean Wed 13-Aug-14 21:52:05

Bfn so far! 12 dpo today so still in the running yet....!

DuPainDuVinDuFromage Wed 13-Aug-14 23:11:53

Thanks all! smile

Fingers crossed for you Juney!

juneybean Thu 14-Aug-14 13:21:47

I think I've got my period :/

sad so sorry juney.

VikingLady Thu 14-Aug-14 17:13:35

I'm sorry Juney

DuPainDuVinDuFromage Fri 15-Aug-14 11:28:23

Sorry to hear that Juney, hope you are ok.

Ah, sorry to hear that Juney.

goldenretriever1978 Sun 17-Aug-14 13:29:32

Sorry to hear that Juney.

juneybean Fri 22-Aug-14 12:17:45

Thanks all, on a more positive note, house should be completing on the 29th! Will soon after add a cat to the mix to help me settle in smile

Hope everyone is well?

On Juney, I'm so sorry sad What will you do now?

Good news on the house though, that's wonderful news!

IAmAPaleontologist Sun 24-Aug-14 07:51:08

Oh juney I'm so sorry x

great news on the house though.

Dupain comgratulations grin
Juney so sorry - are you planning a next time?

Is anyone interested in meeting with kids on Monday 8th? I have two 4yos who are onlin in school for the afternoon that day (stupid phasing in protocol).

Good news on house, Juney. Good luck tomorrow!

juneybean Thu 28-Aug-14 17:51:59

I have a 4 year old on the 8th AM?

juneybean Thu 28-Aug-14 21:25:01

Also hopefully having a macmillan coffee morning afternoon on Saturday 27th September 3pm ish as a housewarming if anyone is free, children very welcome!

goldenretriever1978 Sun 07-Sep-14 11:57:32

Sounds good Juney, but I will be at Alton Towers with the kids (worried look)...

juneybean Sun 07-Sep-14 14:10:31

Whoops forgot I wrote that, house is no where near ready so it'll likely be October instead!

IAmAPaleontologist Wed 10-Sep-14 10:48:42

Haha! How is the house coming along?

Golden how are you doing? You've started on delivery now haven't you?

Ok folks what would you do?

There have been some, erm, teething problems with the new childminder. She is sweet but a bit on the dim side I think. You know how a lot of girls who work in nurseries are? (no offence juney my dear, you are most definitely NOT included in that sweeping generalisation!). She put ds2 in a booster with the seatbelt. Ds2 being 2 years old and under 13 kg. She had a legal seat on the way but it had not yet arrived (on the way! Why on the way? She has known their start date for months and months!). So that wasn't a great start. That goodness ds1 told me as she didn't mention not having a seat at all. Claimed she thought it was ok hmm. Honestly if we had had other options I'd have pulled them all out but even though I am pretty sure I could have got ds2 into a nursery I would still ahve needed a CM to pick up the others form school and one other in the village is full and the other doesn't work past 5pm so that leaves us with the one we have.

Anyway. Ds2 now in proper seat.

Kids are happy, seem busy, lots of craft type stuff. But very nursery led ie all indoors. I assume nurseries she has worked at are typical ones with little outdoor space all age groups have to take a turn in so not much time outdoors. No evidence yet of going to groups.

Old childminder went to loads of groups and lots of walks. They would go play out on the field after school so big ones got exercise too. They would go for walks down the cycle paths and pick up pine cones and stuff. Ds2 and the other 2 year old she had like looking at poo and identifying the animal it came from grin. That is more what I want for my child sad

I'm concerned about the lack of physical activity and the lack of groups and social contact but I don't know how to go about broaching the subject. I don't want to be that parent. Especially when we've already had the carseat thing.

I wasn't going to bother sending ds2 to nursery as the CM offers the 15 hours funding but I wonder if I should now to have a couple of days of something else. I don't want to use the local preschool due to previous issues with it (telling us ds1 would have to wear a nappy when he had a medical problem and then we were unhappy with it when we tried dd there and we pulled her out) but I don't think she can do pick ups from anywhere else. I suppose we could do 2 full days in another nursery and pay the extra which wouldn't be all that much less than the CM costs. But then I don't know what we'd do in holidays.

It is all a fricking mess.

Juney can I just sack her and have you come look after my kids?

juneybean Wed 10-Sep-14 11:19:50

Don't worry, I agree nursery girls are a special breed.

What about saying "there's X group in the village, do you think DS2 might like to go to that?" and see if she takes the hint?

Hmm tricky, are there any nurseries further out, I'm useless with Durham villages but Woodlands in Meadowfield is lovely (or was when I did some temp work there last year)

Would an au pair work? I mean even when you get to three kids I do think nannies can work out to be cheaper, you could get a holiday nanny (usually teaching students)

I'm already turning into the pied piper, what's another three grin

House is slow going, I've painted one room (the smallest not-even-a-room room) and mother is taking paper off other walls, but will need a plasterer I think gah!

IAmAPaleontologist Wed 10-Sep-14 11:36:49

There is Busy Bears in Bear Park which we used for the others for their 15 hours and I've been hearing a lot of really good things about Do Re Mi in Meadowfield whcih has a big emphasis on outdoor play.

Can't get an aupair, I gather you have have a bedroom to put them in grin. Nanny is problematic really which the amount of working form home/sleeping after night shifts we both do. House isn't big enough to be able to shut yourself away and work and not be able to hear the kids though I'm starting to wonder if I shouldn't have gone down that road.

Will have to talk to her. There are groups on locally every day of the week.

juneybean Wed 10-Sep-14 11:43:54

Stick au pair in a cupboard!

Do Re Mi is the new one isn't it, same industrial estate as Woodlands I think, does sound good though!

My bosses work from home a lot, it's more of an impetus to get me out of the house because I don't like working around parents!

Definitely have a wee chat though, whilst she's the contractor, you have to be happy with the service!

goldenretriever1978 Mon 15-Sep-14 08:27:26

Paleontologist, I can't imagine you being stuck for words! Curses to the lure of Canada. Sounds a tad awkward.

Have been on delivery suite for two weeks and have managed to see a whopping one uncomplicated birth and even that was slightly questionable in the end sad

IAmAPaleontologist Mon 15-Sep-14 09:57:46

Welcome to midwifery.

Take it all in, take it all on board and use it to inform your practice. You will start to notice that the midwives who really and honestly believe in women and in normal birth. The ones who spend time in the room with her, encouraging, rubbing her back, helping her to change position and so on have much, much lower c/s and lift out rates. Much lower. Those that only bob in and out to check the fetal heart every 15 mins and judge the outcome from the start or perhaps only pay lip service to normality have far higher rates of intervention. Sometimes you learn how you want to practice through seeing how you don't want to be.

I'm not slating the way anyone practices, I think it is hard to stay positive and true to normal birth in a hospital environment and culturally we are very much on an uphill battle. You probably find yourself that your mentor rubs off on you when you spend long shifts together. It is tough. September is always a really busy time too and it is inevitable that it becomes a conveyor belt of getting women through just to free up beds and get the next labouring woman in and staff morale drops with that.

I hope you get some normality soon. Did you see the FB event thing I invited you to? I can't make the 20th but the organiser will be doing another screening (probably at her house) for those of us that can't make it on the 2nd Saturday in October so I'll be going as will a doula who lives around here too so we will be going together if you want to come with us. Should be really good and a bit of positivity for you smile

goldenretriever1978 Mon 15-Sep-14 13:55:19

Paleontologist, can't do 20th either, but will see about 2nd as am only getting my off duty a few days beforehand.

Did you manage a chat with CM?

IAmAPaleontologist Mon 15-Sep-14 14:01:42

2nd Saturday, not the 2nd. Not getting off duty is an arse but sometimes it is worth sticking something int he diary and then sorting shifts around it.

I've mentioned groups. Not seen her really due to placement so shall have to see how things develop.

Someone mentioned curry? <hopeful look>

IAmAPaleontologist Wed 17-Sep-14 21:33:10

I have bridesmaid duties coming up (including <gulp> a visit to a hairdresser). But apart from that and the dreaded football, I am free.

IAmAPaleontologist Thu 18-Sep-14 17:28:27

Well I have various things on in October to try to squeeze of duty round but November I'm back in uni. finish quite early in December too.

My birthday in Nov. Just saying...

IAmAPaleontologist Thu 18-Sep-14 20:29:20

Mine on Monday but I don't think we'll get organised by then grin .

November then?

IAmAPaleontologist Fri 19-Sep-14 22:01:50

posting because I've located another one of us smile .

How is the house juney?

so. November. Any particular weekend? I think we need to do a roundup for spb, dupainduvin, viking and so on.

DuPainDuVinDuFromage Sat 20-Sep-14 20:06:20

Did someone mention my name? grin

Happy birthday for Monday, Paleontologist - excellent time of year to have a birthday (it's mine on Wednesday smile). I'd definitely be up for doing something in November...

IAmAPaleontologist Sun 21-Sep-14 09:39:00

Happy Birthday to you too! Clearly all the best people are born in September smile

How are you and the small ones?

VikingLady Sun 21-Sep-14 18:38:21

Happy birthday for tomorrow!

I am still here, btw, just mainly lurking due to hating battling autocorrect on my bloody iPhone! My birthday is in November too, but since I can't drink, am absolutely exhausted all the time, and can't get back home after a night out (bloody trains), I'll have to duck out again. I'll happily do a daytime meet up though!

I'm up for curry!!
I don't think there's any weekends in November I can't do.
VikingLady, I am happy to give you a lift there and back, since I'd drive anyway.

In case you hadn't noted I've deleted my facebook page. PM me if you want my email address and phone number.
I might well start up a new FB page but it will be very limited.
Got issues with me standing for election and the local independents playing a dirty campaign. Like to not give them any ammo.

juneybean Mon 22-Sep-14 13:24:52

I can only do 8th November if that's any good!

IAmAPaleontologist Mon 22-Sep-14 15:38:08

So the 8th then? That makes life easy.

I can the 8th!

I can DO the 8th.

It has been a long day. I hate London and back in a day. And I've got to do it all over again on Thursday. <wail>

VikingLady Mon 22-Sep-14 21:39:31

MrsTripTucker Thank you, I'll take you up on that offer! Depending on dates etc, natch.

So you've taken down rude FB photos then? wink

LOL... as If I'd put them on my facebook page ;)

I'll check about the 8th Nov... I know hubby is trying to arrange a meet up with some mates in November but I don't know if he's confirmed a date.
I've checked the calender and I think it looks like that we have DSS that weekend, so yes I can make it.
Will need to double check though.

DuPainDuVinDuFromage Tue 23-Sep-14 05:37:58

We are doing fine thanks, the smallest one is currently feeding while the slightly less small one is fast asleep between me and DH as she woke herself up with her excessive snottiness and has moved into our bed to spread the germs and wipe snot all over the sheets grin

Hopefully I will manage not to have a stinking cold by 8 November, so count me in provisionally!

Does someone want to message the new mumsnet local editor about it in case she misses the thread?

Count me in for the 8th smile
And VikingLady!

Boo at a wedding then.
Hope b day was good Paleo!

I've just emerged from a work deadline with a whole big to do list. Must say no more...

Juney, any more on house?

juneybean Fri 26-Sep-14 21:21:06

I finished painting the living room today! Mother is hopefully going to finish removing wallpaper off the other wall so we can wallpaper and I will hopefully move in next weekend!

Gah! My after school child care has fallen through. No ones fault but gah.

AIBU to secretly hope Juney's families emigrate and I can have her all to myself? wink

VikingLady Sun 28-Sep-14 22:41:46

Finally, DH has summoned the nerve and told MIL that I am pg - now I'm nearly 15w and showing.

Her response? "Oh no!"

On the whole it went better than expected grin. She was too horrified at us having a second child without owning our own home that she forgot to lecture us!

Next weekend I'm sending DH over on his own. He can have the lecture whilst V and I go to the park smile

That sounds like a good plan :D

goldenretriever1978 Mon 29-Sep-14 21:44:01

November 8th is now on the calendar of doom. Hurray for Indian food!

IAmAPaleontologist Wed 01-Oct-14 15:50:55

i can't stress how much i am looking forward to November 8th!

What game can i get ds2? Or sort of ds2. Each child getting a stack of books (sorted) for Christmas plus am accumulating a pile of board games. Got sorry and articulate for kids so far, want something a little more geared towards ds2 so i can at least pretend I've got him a present but don't want any more bloody Orchard toys games that make me want to slit my wrists. already have connect 4 and snakes and ladders and stuff.

juneybean Wed 01-Oct-14 15:54:43

Oh I was going to suggest orchard game types.

My boss has started using these guys...

juneybean Wed 01-Oct-14 15:55:18

Also we need a roll call for those coming on 8th so we can provisionally book table.

I'm coming on the 8th.

I can't guarantee I'll be able to make sensible conversation or not fall asleep in my curry, but I'll definitely be there.

IAmAPaleontologist Wed 01-Oct-14 19:30:28

Do any of us ever make sensible conversation?

juneybean Wed 01-Oct-14 19:38:12

Curry on 8th Nov

I have sunk below even our low standards.

I have approximately eleventy billion things to think about and I think my brain has rebelled and gone on strike. I am so tired I can barely string a sentence together and it took me 3 goes to count to 10 this morning. I had to stop work and go to bed this afternoon. It was either that or lie on the floor sobbing.

I've got a 15 hour day tomorrow. Starting at 5.30am. Sob.

Don't forget me and VikingLady!

VikingLady Wed 01-Oct-14 21:21:27

Yep, me this time!

juneybean Wed 01-Oct-14 22:55:48

Curry on 8th Nov

I'm definitely hoping to be there. Can't remember if I booked it into the calendar yet.

DuPainDuVinDuFromage Thu 02-Oct-14 12:01:29

Will it be the same place as last time? On claypath?

paleontologist have you got bananagrams? It's a good one for younger children because everyone can play to their own level - you are effectively competing against yourself even though it is a game that you play with other people. It looks expensive for what it is but I think it's worth it!

IAmAPaleontologist Thu 02-Oct-14 12:50:42

Yes, we love bananagrams. ds2 not quite that advanced though grin .

juneybean Thu 02-Oct-14 16:40:00

Curry on 8th Nov

DuPain yep that's the one!

Are we aiming for 8pm?

IAmAPaleontologist Thu 02-Oct-14 18:05:37

no no no no no no no no no no no we need early drinks with cake again. Was brilliant when we did that. Plus then there will still be places open for coffee after.

juneybean Thu 02-Oct-14 18:19:58

Sorry! 8pm for meal I meant! grin

juneybean Thu 02-Oct-14 18:20:55

How long does one need between cake and curry in order to enjoy said curry?

We could just fill any space between cake and curry with even more cocktails.....

IAmAPaleontologist Fri 03-Oct-14 07:01:43

Very true.

juneybean Fri 03-Oct-14 21:19:07

I'll book it tomorrow when the sprogs are snoozing. So 7.30pm or 8pm? Or some other time? grin

I shall be on the virgin cocktails but yes cake sounds good!
Café Continental? They do have the most fabulous cakes.

IAmAPaleontologist Sat 04-Oct-14 07:33:06

They do. Though ebony also have cake to go with your cocktails earlier on.

mmmm tempting!

IAmAPaleontologist Sat 04-Oct-14 13:17:54

I'm sure you could have a sneaky alcoholic cocktail with cake nice and early on. Cocktail at 4/5pm, driving at 11pm?

That's true!

I've invited AnitaBlake as well... she's going to double check to see if her DH is free that weekend and get back to me.

juneybean Wed 08-Oct-14 19:35:41

I've booked the table they only had 8pm left anyways so have booked for 10 people just in case

Damnit, I'm at a wedding on 8th Nov! No idea how that skipped my mind...! At least there will still be booze and cake. No curry though...

goldenretriever1978 Thu 09-Oct-14 15:12:11

Feck. Can't go on the 8th of November as am away for the weekend and it hadn't been written on the calendar of joy.

IAmAPaleontologist Thu 09-Oct-14 20:55:11

What! No! golden i forbid it! leggy too. curry folks. curry!

goldenretriever1978 Thu 09-Oct-14 21:54:56

l know, it is extremely poor and frankly would much rather be having curry, as we will be in Blackpool. In a Travelodge. On a Saturday night. I trust you all feel suitably sorry for me.

juneybean Thu 09-Oct-14 22:38:38

This is terrible! sad

Dear God, golden. Blackpool? Saturday? Travelodge? My sympathies.

But paleontologist, that does mean we have an excuse to arrange another curry and cocktails. Silver linings folks, look for the silver linings...

IAmAPaleontologist Fri 10-Oct-14 12:47:12

Well that is true. We will need something else.

It is practically time to plan the Christmas meet up grin

Actually that is pretty scary. I haven't got time for Christmas.

Very true. I also don't have time for Christmas...

juneybean Thu 16-Oct-14 11:12:31

Christmas... No I don't have money left for Christmas!

IAmAPaleontologist Sun 19-Oct-14 07:53:14

is it November yet?

juneybean Sun 19-Oct-14 17:25:06

Very nearly!!

themonkeysandme Mon 20-Oct-14 19:26:54

Hello there, can newbies join this thread? smile

IAmAPaleontologist Mon 20-Oct-14 19:35:22

Course they can smile

Do you like curry?

And cake?

And cocktails?

Newbies welcomed with open arms grin

Especially ones that like cake, curry or cocktails. Or complaining about children/partners/work/study/husbands that follow your instructions not to bring wine home as you are trying to be good and completely ignore the incident that happened late afternoon which requires medicinal wine* (delete as applicable)

*my boss cut and paste an email I sent him into an important document that got sent round our department. Neglecting to proof read it first and remove the comment about our notoriously difficult to please big boss. Luckily I wasn't being rude this timebut it made me scream when I read it.

And yes notoriously difficult to please big boss was copied into our email as he's our head of department. And he's the only one likely to read my bit.

anyway to help me forget the trauma, seeing as I've no wine to help, tell us about yourself monkey...

I'm spiggy and I have a boss who is in big trouble 3 dcs. Ds1 is 7, Dd is 5 and ds2 is 3.

themonkeysandme Mon 20-Oct-14 20:50:08

Ah lovely, thank you. I wasn't sure as I have been lurking a little bit and you all seem to know each other pretty well but I was feeling brave earlier. smile

Yup, love curry, cake and cocktails (although sadly not many cocktails so far this year due to feeding DS every hour or so each night until very recently!).

Hi spiggy, nice to meet you smile sounds like you've had a hard day! I have dd who is 2 and ds who is 9 months and live in Durham.

We were all newbies once. smile I only joined the thread as I "met" paleontologist on the Dec 08 thread and she dragged me here, followed shortly by a meet up where I sidled up to random people in soft play and asked if they were there to meet someone from the t'internet. Luckily I guessed right first time and wasn't evicted from the place for being odd grin

are you still tied to smallest child during the evening or are you free to join us for cake, cocktails and/or curry? I think we have space at the restaurant because a few people decided they had social lives that didn't involve us <hard stare> There's definitely space at cocktails and cake...

juneybean Mon 20-Oct-14 21:37:30

Fresh meat!

Yes we have room on the 8th November if you can join us! :D We're all lovely honest!

I'm the resident nanny, I prefer to give children back at the end of the day.

I'm also seriously considering becoming a crazy cat lady... who needs children!

"fresh meat" haha grin

I did wonder how a newbie would work out who you were at a first meeting, I guess I will just have to be unafraid of looking slightly odd!

Hmm, 8 November is a definite possibility as I am allowed out in the evenings now! Only trouble is DH is away on the Friday night and I'm not sure when he's due back on the Saturday. Will negotiate with him and get back to you asap!

Be fab if you could join us. We've had a few ways of identifying newbies. Shortly after biscuit gate we all turned up with a packet of biscuits. Recently it has been the rather boring laminated MN logo on the table. grin

IAmAPaleontologist Tue 21-Oct-14 14:39:43

hurrah! Come!

Do we have a timetable for the 8th yet? When I was having a major strop at work today I put it in my calendar just to cheer me up.

Big boss not yet spotted the comments but is giving me grief over something else. My workload continues to be horrendous. The car broke down this morning and I am a bridesmaid in 4 days and I have sinusitis and a HUGE spot brewing on my chin which given my ineptitude with make up is going to shine out of all photos which I am going to have to appear in despite my phobia of cameras. Oh, and did I mention I'm having to go to a hairdressers which I also have a phobia of? I'm also convinced I'm going to cock up the brides big day somehow...

I am a teensy weensy bit stressed. Can you tell?

Apologies to monkeys. I'd say its not always bitching and moaning round here but you said you'd been lurking so I guess you know that would be a lie. grin
