When meeting up take sensible precautions. Meet in a public place and let others know where you are going. You can also meet mums on your local site here.

Anyone fancy a Cheltenham meet-up?

GetOrf Thu 07-Feb-13 19:06:24

Just been talking to a few MNers today about a meetup (you know who you are!). Would anyone fancy a few drinks and a meal one night in Cheltenham, and afterwards dancing round our handbags in the Prom Club?

(I am joking about the Prom Club grin)

foxache Thu 07-Feb-13 19:17:06

Yes I'm in grin Any dates yet, or can I suggest 22/23rd Feb for starters?

I warn you all, I haven't been out in public for a while...

GetOrf Thu 07-Feb-13 19:19:16

Yes - 22/23rd would be fine for me. Might be a bit soon for some but hopefully we should be able to sort it.

I am complete lightweight fox - I stopped drinking because of illness for nearly a year - now I get pickled on a couple of glasses!

ledkr Thu 07-Feb-13 19:25:13

Oh go on then!! But I am one if those that would find that too soon sorry as I need to get dh off work or sitters.
Prom club is closed btw but there are some okay bars open late.
We could go to the beehive where me n dolly went ny day. The staff hate us there because we tried to turn up the music. We wrote them a nice letter but they rejected it so we rang them from the garden to tell them they were rude!!
Sure you still want me to come blush

PatTheHammer Thu 07-Feb-13 19:26:47

Hmmm, are you planning on turning up this time Getorf wink

ledkr Thu 07-Feb-13 19:35:31

Ha ha ha

foxache Thu 07-Feb-13 19:42:01

I am a lightweight too when it comes to late bars, I'll turn up early, down four pints in quick succession and have to go home blush

Any date is fine with me, I only selfishly suggested then because I'm on an alternate weekend thing with ds, but can start arranging a babysitter. That gives us 2/3rd March or 9/10?

Ledkr, I've just discovered there are two Beehives grin You'll have to tell me which in case I end up at the wrong one. I hope the garden is heated.

PatTheHammer Thu 07-Feb-13 19:46:36

Oooh, I could do the 9/10th of March if you were doing it then.....

Having a dirty weekend away with DH on the 2nd/3rd (by definition will very much be not dirty as we will end up eating too much, getting drunk on 2 glasses of wine and both be unconscious asleep by 10pm).

What about going to Thai Emerald? the food is always good.

DollyTwat Thu 07-Feb-13 19:47:27

I'm in obviously!

Oh ledkr you're such a lightweight grin

I may be able to do the 22/23 but more notice would be better.

ledkr Thu 07-Feb-13 20:27:05

OBVIOUSLY * dolly*

GetOrf Thu 07-Feb-13 21:30:22

9 or 10 March might be better then as it will be more notice for people to arrange things. I can't do 2 or 3 Mar as it's my birthday and dd is taking me to Le Gavroche. And paying!

Is the Beehive down the road from thr Retreat? I think that's what it's called, I can only think if that one or the little pub in Prestbury.

Will definitely turn up I promise!

foxache Thu 07-Feb-13 21:43:19

I'd have gone to Prestbury and sat with the old blokes. Must be the other.

9/10 good for me, it sounds as if both Pat and GetOrf have good weekends planned for the week before smile

Galena Thu 07-Feb-13 22:32:33

9/10 is good for me. I'm already going out on the 1st and we have visitors the 22/23rd.

I am happy with drinks and meal. Probably won't go on as I'm old and boring...

DollyTwat Fri 08-Feb-13 01:08:51

I am lying about ledkr being a lightweight
I went home at 12 ish and SHE was out til about 4am
She's WILD!
I'm on for march do
Just make sure it's not the races again - we will never find each other

ledkr Fri 08-Feb-13 07:31:42

Oh yes not race week I'm already out much if the week.
When dolly speaks of me she kindly leaves out the fact that I normally spend all day in bed the next day whilst dh visits with iced water and a raised eyebrow.

GetOrf Fri 08-Feb-13 07:51:36

That made me laugh about you turning the music up. Good on you for going out new years day, I spent the whole of that day covered in blankets eating the last of the christmas stollen.

I had NO IDEA that the Prom Club had shut. That place was such a horrible meat market. Mind you the last time I went to a club (Subtone) was 4 christmases ago.

I don't think that weekend is race week is it (is gold cup week the end of March, can't remember).

GetOrf Fri 08-Feb-13 07:54:33

Race week starts the 12th.

Last time I went out on gold cup day the pubs were full of strippers hmm

GetOrf Fri 08-Feb-13 07:56:05

Christ I sound like Disgusted of Tunbridge Wells grin

ledkr Fri 08-Feb-13 08:21:06

Yes it's full of strippers. Makes me sick that apparently men can't enjoy the races and then the town without some naked girls.
Lots of prostitutes as well. In good at avoiding it all but the atmosphere is great. Best days for me are a day in town having some bets and drinks. A bit of lunch then home before town fills up.
Great fun last year staggering into Superdrug for nasal spray in heels and stinking of wine. We even saw one of the ds " oh hello hello my son" ds hurried past collar up. We are patsy and Eddie. Subtone is still good actually and I can get us in free should we decide to go but I'm happy with meal and drinks also.
Ill come back with dates.

GetOrf Fri 08-Feb-13 08:27:07

Lol at you speaking to your son whilst in Superdrug for nasal spray pissed grin

XP is related to one of the DJs in Subtone so we used to get in free. It would be a laugh to go there again but equally just as happy with meal and drinks.

ledkr Fri 08-Feb-13 08:32:11

Which one? Yes in always up for whatever. 21 club is dollys favourite so we could try there too. Do you need to stay over? I've got a spare room.

GetOrf Fri 08-Feb-13 10:37:30

Mark C (don't want to put his full name) - related by marriage.

I rememeber when I first went to the 21 Club - it's so small I thought it was like someone's sitting room!

That's a lovely offer - I will see what I need to do with DD that weekend (most Sundays have to go to Oxford with her, thankfully she can drive now so I don't have to worry about being over the limit though). So I will let you know when we agree a date - thanks!

DollyTwat Fri 08-Feb-13 12:20:57

The prom was taken over by Alex Clarke (letting agent) and he changed it so it was awful. Plastic red sofas and loud techno music and cheap cocktails. Couldn't last

I only like the 21 if its quiet, happy to go anywhere really.

GetOrf Fri 08-Feb-13 15:57:10

The prom club made me laugh - full of 50 year olds doing that sneaky dance to get close to 20 something girls.

PatTheHammer Fri 08-Feb-13 17:32:01

I mentioned the Prom club to DH (a born and bred cheltonian) last night and he snorted his tea everywhere.

I like subtone, last time I went with some friends one fell asleep in the downstairs bar, so embarrassing!

I hate to say it but the last few good nights out I have had have been in..........^Gloucester^. I know, shocking isn't it! Last friday had a really good meal at Blossoms chinese near The Quays, all-you-can eat but table service with freshly cooked dishes instead of stuff thats been marinading in its own MSG juices for hours on the hotplate.

PatTheHammer Fri 08-Feb-13 17:32:51

Oh, that didn't work, wanted to say 'Gloucester' in Italics, now it just looks like its got ears blush

GetOrf Fri 08-Feb-13 17:45:32

Blossoms is lovely - it's a really good chinese.

I went out out in Gloucester once (eastgate street) - SCARY. Like Kavos.

foxache Fri 08-Feb-13 18:16:02

Eastgate Street's always been a bit like that, young, clubby and scary. There used to be some great pubs and venues in Gloucester, I'm not sure where I'd go now.

21 Club's ok, I'm a bit short for it though, and my make-up's usually fallen off by the time I reach there.

ledkr Fri 08-Feb-13 19:46:20

Ha ha I once shouted at a random man in the prim club telling g him to stop letching at me and did I look like normal prom club fodder. It turned out to be dh's sergeant who was trying to say hello blush
I don't mind glos but will mean buses etc. I have a camper van maybe we could set it up in quays car park it sleeps four. We could have a lovely cuppa in the morning. Ha ha ha

DollyTwat Sat 09-Feb-13 00:37:31

Why am I thinking Thelma and Louisegrin

GetOrf Thu 14-Feb-13 17:23:28

What date did we decide then <looks up thread>

9th March OK for everyone?

And where shall we go?

DollyTwat Fri 15-Feb-13 17:30:03

9th is perfect for me

Shall we get a list of who's coming?

GetOrf Mon 18-Feb-13 15:03:13

Righty ho.

So, the 9th in Cheltenham.

Will PM you all.

Where shall we go, what shall we do?

And if anyone else is interested please do join in.

Galena Mon 18-Feb-13 15:17:34

Sounds great! (Sorry, I lost this thread for a while...)

Yep, count me in as long as it's not dancing round our handbags in some club or other...

GetOrf Mon 18-Feb-13 15:21:52

I think dinner first and then a few naice bars, and then if we want to behave disgracefully dance we can decide on the night.

Anyone got any suggestions for somewhere to eat? What does everyone like? I am a gannet and eat anything.

Galena Mon 18-Feb-13 15:26:43

Sounds great! (Sorry, I lost this thread for a while...)

Yep, count me in as long as it's not dancing round our handbags in some club or other...

Galena Mon 18-Feb-13 15:27:16

Er... deja vu sorry! Couldn't remember if I'd posted 'Post'!

I eat anything too...

foxache Mon 18-Feb-13 19:30:52

Great for me, are there any nice pubs with food? The Strand? I think CherryMonster is hoping to come too, I'll pm her.

PatTheHammer Mon 18-Feb-13 20:16:34

I like these places in Chelt:
La Tasca
Thai Emerald
Ruby Chinese in Tivoli
One of the Curry houses on bath road.......Indus?
The Vinings pub does Thai food
A Turkish restaurant near where the old cinema was (no idea if its still there).
Bar and Wok on lower high street.
Morans on bath road

Sorry, doesn't narrow it down much!!!

rugbychick Mon 18-Feb-13 20:31:52

I'm away that weekend (for my dad's 70th). If you organise another night out, count me in!

ledkr Mon 18-Feb-13 21:20:18

Me too. I hardly ever do anything theses days and I'm doing two things over that weekend <sad little face> you all go on and have fun without me you fuckers

SizzleSazz Mon 18-Feb-13 21:24:46

Ooh, i might well be able to do the 9th. First free weekend we have so will have to sweet talk DH.

DollyTwat Mon 18-Feb-13 21:28:51

Ledkr you must come

Cancel your other plans, we are more important

I'm fine with any of the places Pat said. LaTasca is great for loads of good that keeps on coming.
Getorf YOU decide

ledkr Mon 18-Feb-13 21:42:35

I think you are all bastards going without me.
I'm going to watch the thread and then make hoax calls to your restaurant.
Let me see what I can jiggle about ill come back tomorrow and let you know.

DollyTwat Mon 18-Feb-13 21:46:56

That's more like it
You know you'd rather come out with us

ledkr Mon 18-Feb-13 22:02:39

Tis important stuff tho. Ill text you.

GetOrf Tue 19-Feb-13 08:34:43

Can I be an awkward fucker as well?

I have got to be in london the friday before and the monday after the 9th and was thinking of staying at my aunt's in London to save stupid travel arrangements. Would it be really awkward to move the date at this stage? What about the week after? Then ledkr and rugbychick could come as well. What does everyone think? Or does this scupper other people's plans?

Let's all go to the Montpellier wine bar and act like PONCES!

ledkr Tue 19-Feb-13 08:39:08

Dolly likes the wine bar getorf she finks she's proper posh n all that.
Ps don't mention the beehive (she's obsessed) I think we may be banned as we rang them to complain they were miserable (whilst we were in there) blush

foxache Tue 19-Feb-13 11:31:47

I'm fine with moving the date, but can't do the 16th I'm afraid, as it's something important, ds related. Will it still be race week then?
Btw, all places suggested by Pat sound great, I only know Bar and Wok and vinings and they're both really nice. Anywhere with big tables and booze!

Galena Tue 19-Feb-13 12:52:06

The festival is 12th-15th, so we might not want to do the 16th... I can't do the week after that (23rd) as I'm away, or the 30th or the 6th April... blush Wow! It almost sounds like I have a social life!

foxache Tue 19-Feb-13 13:09:52

The year's melting away!

this is probably ridiculous, but would people be free this weekend? <ducks> Thought I'd ask just in case, though I realise it's unlikely!

Galena Tue 19-Feb-13 13:48:51

Nope - my parents are down...

Hullygully Tue 19-Feb-13 13:52:37

I'd come if it wasn't Cheltenham and March 9th <helpful>

ledkr Tue 19-Feb-13 17:07:33

When do you want it then hully eh?
Can't please some people can you grin

DollyTwat Tue 19-Feb-13 19:14:56

You can stay at mine Hully
I''m in Prestbury which is as posh as it gets

PatTheHammer Tue 19-Feb-13 20:21:08

I can't do the 16th......anyone do a friday.....The 22nd?

ledkr Tue 19-Feb-13 22:02:26

Have to say pat I do like a Friday night out. Love having the whole weekend to recover.

foxache Tue 19-Feb-13 22:33:58

Friday 22nd good for me too smile

Galena Wed 20-Feb-13 08:04:08

Can't do the 22nd. Sorry. sad

foxache Wed 20-Feb-13 10:01:17

This is why we're all on here isn't it grin

Galena Wed 20-Feb-13 12:36:32

Nope, can't do 23rd either - none of that weekend. But if everyone else can manage 22nd then feel free to meet without me and arrange another I can make!

SizzleSazz Wed 20-Feb-13 13:32:25

Can't do 23rd. Possibly do 22nd...

PatTheHammer Wed 20-Feb-13 15:56:04

Ledkr- My thoughts exactly about a friday night out. I need at least 3 days to recover from the effects of alcohol these days wink

PatTheHammer Wed 20-Feb-13 15:56:56

I am having a craving for the noodles at Bar and Wok everytime I open this thread.......

dannyboyle Wed 20-Feb-13 16:08:13

Wow a Cheltenham home thread. Haven't the guts to meet up with you all as I'm only a lurker on here, but nice to know people exist in this town. Enjoy! (Must admit I did laugh at the activity regarding the beehive!)

ledkr Wed 20-Feb-13 18:04:18

Fox did I see you today in a burger joint ( I wasn't eating btw) wasn't sure so didn't say hi in case it was a complete stranger.

ledkr Wed 20-Feb-13 18:04:58

Danny. We are the cheltenham massive grin

foxache Wed 20-Feb-13 18:33:21

Ledkr, no way! Were you inside or out?

That was ds's tea blush a special treat, honestly! you may have seen me being a bit shouty. Shame, I didn't see you.

DollyTwat Wed 20-Feb-13 21:19:02

I first met ledkr by accident at the lido
I watched her towel for her!

We weren't banned from the Beehive, think your friend might have been though! I was talking to the Bandit keeping out of trouble

AddictedtoCrunchies Wed 20-Feb-13 21:33:09

Am I too late to join? although I can't make any of the dates you've mentioned, if it changes I could come.

That was terrible English but you know what I mean. I hope. I'm not from 'Nam but live in the wonderfulhmm town down the A419 blush

dannyboyle Wed 20-Feb-13 21:50:04

Cheltenham massive shock you lot would scare me to death i think wink. Might be tempted to come for a drink as need to meet more Chelt people (moved here to live with husband!)

foxache Wed 20-Feb-13 21:56:23

yes come Danny and Crunchies smile

DollyTwat Wed 20-Feb-13 23:17:12

we are all lovely, will look after you too
Come out with us, it will be fun

AddictedtoCrunchies Thu 21-Feb-13 07:50:22

OK. Will come if I can. When is it?

foxache Thu 21-Feb-13 10:02:42

At this rate it'll be summer 2015 smile

So 22/23rd March is out? The Easter holidays are Mon 25th -Fri 5th April, who's around? Or the next weekend is 12/13 April.

Galena Thu 21-Feb-13 10:33:57

We're away over Easter. Could do 12/13 April. But as I said, if it's only me that can't make the 22nd, go for it and I'll come to the next one.

GetOrf Thu 21-Feb-13 12:50:32

Oh I am all confused, what date are we on about again. grin

I will go back and read. I don't want to delay too much - we will lose momentum.

AddictedtoCrunchies Thu 21-Feb-13 14:02:58

I can do Saturday 13 April in Cheltenham?

PatTheHammer Thu 21-Feb-13 14:06:57

I can do the 13th.

Anyone also up for the 22nd grin

GetOrf Thu 21-Feb-13 14:37:33

Right, I have found out today that I don't need to do that report that weekend so can do that original weekend date 9th March - but ledkr can't do the 9th, so how would everyone be fixed for 8th March (friday).

I am sorry if someone has already mentioned that and I missed it! Just quickly checking MN in very quick break.

GetOrf Thu 21-Feb-13 14:39:15

PLUS it's the Friday after my birthday which is Sunday 3rd, and because I don't drink on work nights it can count as a birthday drink.

First round of cocktails on me!

<stupid with excitement>

foxache Thu 21-Feb-13 15:48:20

8th is great, that's two weeks today!

foxache Thu 21-Feb-13 15:48:35

PatTheHammer Thu 21-Feb-13 16:12:48

8th is fine for me.

<Heard there's a free cocktail going>

Oh ffs, Im gunna have to come arent I, considering I live there.

and Im trying to out my sister so I hope she comes too

eyes you all suspiciously

DollyTwat Thu 21-Feb-13 17:49:36

I'll say yes but will have to check with my sitter tomorrow

Galena Thu 21-Feb-13 18:04:27

I'm ok for the 8th. smile

foxache Thu 21-Feb-13 18:13:48

Monkeyface, it'll be really funny if you were my sister.

Last meet up I was sure I'd know someone, but didn't.

ledkr Thu 21-Feb-13 18:34:21

monkey you can't come you mocked my old ness before! grin

I never did ledkr.

Did I?

Was I drunk?

oh fuck

AddictedtoCrunchies Thu 21-Feb-13 18:44:09

I can't make 8th but have a great time grin

Wow, just looked at your profile. You are v.glamourous but old

SizzleSazz Thu 21-Feb-13 18:53:20

Think the 8th is good for me

<feels a plan coming together>

Pat - do you want to share lift/taxi again?

ledkr Thu 21-Feb-13 19:07:19

Right that's it I'm giving you the cheltenham kiss when I meet ya <windmills>

PatTheHammer Thu 21-Feb-13 19:31:55

Oh yes, taxi share is an excellent plan for us out-of-towners

<wonders if a Travel lodge would be cheaper than a bloomin taxi to Stroud>

ledkr Thu 21-Feb-13 19:49:19

May well be pat worth a look eh.
<does best hard face at monkey face>

PatTheHammer Thu 21-Feb-13 20:25:13

Sazz- it's 33 quid for a room at the travel lodge. 16 odd quid each. Deffo worth a thought! Christ only knows how much a taxi is.

SizzleSazz Thu 21-Feb-13 20:55:49

Ooh, sounds ok Pat. I need to double check the diary but i think it'll be fine. If we can rope MyCat in we can triple bunk for £11 grin

Taxi to ours is about £20, so probably £35 to you

Possiblyoutedled Sat 23-Feb-13 09:07:37

Just bumping so it doesn't fall of my actives.

Galena Sun 24-Feb-13 21:20:03

Just making sure I don't lose this again...

GetOrf Tue 26-Feb-13 07:29:47

Hello hello.

Sorry have not been on this thread for abit - so the 8th it is? Hope that is OK for everyone.

Am going to pm everyone on t'list and if you are coming could you c and p your name in a list - I would do it but I am on my crapberry and it is a pita.

And where shall we go again (looks upthread for ideas).

Right - list for the 8th

Possiblyoutedled Tue 26-Feb-13 13:09:42

DollyTwat Tue 26-Feb-13 18:43:23

PatTheHammer Tue 26-Feb-13 18:47:16

PatTheHammer Tue 26-Feb-13 18:48:16

Where are we going? Only we had better book!

Possiblyoutedled Tue 26-Feb-13 18:59:57

I'm easy about where we go. I'm a bit excited now.

GetOrf Wed 27-Feb-13 07:33:53

Where did we say we would go again?

Agree will have to book it.

Depends if we want to be at montpellier end, or dahn the lower end.

What about zizzi? I know it's nothing special but he building is really lovely. Or morans on Bath Rd or one of the Indians (has anyone been to Shazam next to Rotunda?). I don't know the chinese in Tivoli but that would be good, and where is Vinings?

Or lower end yes love Bar and Wok. Or Thai Emerald. Jamies Italian is cheap and cheerful (and nice cocktails).

I don't mind though - honestly will go with what everyone else wants. I eat anything except broad beans grin

Galena Wed 27-Feb-13 08:02:01

I'm happy anywhere really... I will bow to the judgement of you lot - who have far better social lives than me (Most of the places mentioned I've walked past, but never been in!)

Possiblyoutedled Wed 27-Feb-13 13:16:41

Not fussed either I eat everything. We will have to make a decision though. I've not been to Jamie's yet (apart from drunk one night ti see jamie blush so happy to try that.

SizzleSazz Wed 27-Feb-13 17:32:33

I ate in Copa the other lunchtime and it was nice (cheap) and good atmosphere. No idea what it is like at night though

PatTheHammer Wed 27-Feb-13 18:35:43

Although I like Bath road and Morans especially I always feel a bit marooned there after eating as it is a hefty walk to town in heels.

The Indian on Montpelier roundabout I would avoid as I had a bad meal there, thought it was pricey for what it was and my friend was really ill after eater there.

Never been to Jamie's.......they used to have a waiting list
Copa is alright in evening early on, not eaten there for years.
Good central position with both of those. Happy with either.

I love Bar and Wok, bit of a walk after but not far from lower high street to get to better bars and clubs etc.

Zizzis is meant to be good, DH eaten there though not me.

Vinings pub is up by the top end of town (near where Boom, Bentleys, Hogshead, Fez Club etc all used to be.....no idea whats up there now but I used to live round the corner!)

Right: think we should vote on style of food we would prefer and then make a decision. So what's your fave out of:

Pub grub

foxache Wed 27-Feb-13 19:01:34

I don't mind about food, but would like to put in a request for non-expensive if you don't mind, please not Zizzis blush

It looks like there will be about 8-10 of us, so we'll need a large table, we just want to sit and natter (and drink) don't we? The Vinings is near some other nice pubs, the Swan & Strand, but anywhere will be nice, it'll be good to go somewhere new as well.

foxache Wed 27-Feb-13 19:04:28

Copa is nice too, big round tables and nice food. Dangerously close to 21 Club though...

DollyTwat Wed 27-Feb-13 20:59:20

I ate in the pub next to the Swan last week, they do lovely Thai food and it was really cheap. Can't think of its name though. It's the one with green tiles on the outside

Possiblyoutedled Wed 27-Feb-13 21:25:40

I know the one yes can't think of the name though.
pat I agree about tracking in heels. Heels are not suitable for short walks from pub to pub.

foxache Wed 27-Feb-13 21:44:09

On the corner Dolly? That's the Vinings, I've not eaten there, just been for a pint, but heard it's nice.

SizzleSazz Wed 27-Feb-13 21:46:34

I have PM'd MyCat to see if she can make this one.

Pat - should we look into Travelodge option? Not sure i even know where it is?

DollyTwat Wed 27-Feb-13 22:14:06

The Vine that's it
Excellent food, the Sean seemed to be a good pub to go after too

DollyTwat Wed 27-Feb-13 22:14:28

Possiblyoutedled Thu 28-Feb-13 09:26:36

There is the big sleep hotel in town it's cheap and no need for taxis to get there.
I'm up for cheap ish food I'd rather spend my money on drinks lol

GetOrf Thu 28-Feb-13 11:58:30

Oh yes I know what you mean now about Vine - up the top bit of town by St James car park. I went there years ago - really nice Thai food. I was all confused because there is a Vinings restaurant in Gloucester which is a bit grim.

Menu www.thevinecheltenham.co.uk/food

Looks very mice.

Shall I book that? For what - 8pm?

GetOrf Thu 28-Feb-13 12:03:11

The Travelodge in Cheltenham is miles away - it's on the golden valley roundabout.

Holiday Inn Express is by the Brewery. And Big Sleep is very central - just looked and it's 40 quid for a twin.

DollyTwat Thu 28-Feb-13 13:05:39

The big sleep is quite nice too

If we'd been meeting on the 9th I could have put some of you up
Ok we need to decide and book somewhere!

DollyTwat Thu 28-Feb-13 13:17:23

Book it Getorf

Galena Thu 28-Feb-13 13:23:20

Yep, looks good. smile

foxache Thu 28-Feb-13 17:14:54

Sorry about the Vine/Vinings confusion blush

All sounds great, yes please book, GetOrf.

Possiblyoutedled Thu 28-Feb-13 17:37:57

Yuck to the vinings.
You alright with booking getorf?
Food looks really nice.
I went to a festival day there few years ago. They laid turf on the floor it was brilliant

MyCatIsAStupidBastard Thu 28-Feb-13 18:12:25

Hello, Oim local too (you can tell by the accent). Can I come too?

Sazz knows me and can vouch for a)my non trollness b)my drinking abilities.

Poxyfox Thu 28-Feb-13 18:21:02

Count me in, for 8th March! smile

SizzleSazz Thu 28-Feb-13 18:22:34

Yay MyCat smile. We could see about taxi costs between you me and Pat, but a slightly circular route...

Poxyfox Thu 28-Feb-13 18:23:33

Oh, and "Hello!" by the way. I'm new to Mumsnet (joined because my sister keeps winning things in Mumsnet competitions, and I want some of that!). I live in Prestbury and have one daughter.

Poxyfox Thu 28-Feb-13 18:24:09

I wonder if I know anyone on this thread...!

Possiblyoutedled Thu 28-Feb-13 18:26:54

Hi poxy I thought that at the last one. I was a bit scared it would be someone who I'd had a falling out with or something but I knew no one.
See you there.

Poxyfox Thu 28-Feb-13 18:31:11

See you there. I like all this incognito stuff!

PatTheHammer Thu 28-Feb-13 18:43:30

We all up for The Vine pub? Is it booked?

Sorry, couldn't remember what it was called, yes definitely don't go to The Vinings in Gloucester by mistake!

Sazz, MyCat lets taxi it then, I have quite a busy day on the sat 9th so best to not stay over in hotel.............much as I would like a bit of a lie in!

MyCatIsAStupidBastard Thu 28-Feb-13 20:32:28

So is it 8th March then? Good with me.

Pat, hello, long time no speak. Yup up for taxi share.

foxache Thu 28-Feb-13 21:24:28

That's good, there'll be a few of us.

The weird thing is, I arranged to meet friends at 'The Vinings', but we all ended up on time at The Vine - shows none of us can read perhaps grin

GetOrf Fri 01-Mar-13 13:11:14

Right, have booked a table for 10 at 8pm next week. Yay! That menu looks really nice, I can't remember what I had when I went there years ago as I was too pissed but remember a very spicy curry. Looks very reasonably priced as well.

Mycatisastupidbastard (which I have always thought is the best name on MN ever grin).

So 9 certainties, just rounded up to 10 in case someone else wants to join (am sure we could add a few more as well).

Shall we meet up somewhere first or meet straight there?

Possiblyoutedled Fri 01-Mar-13 14:17:23

Fab thanks getorf

Galena Fri 01-Mar-13 14:26:15

Cool, now just to work on the courage to come! grin

GetOrf Fri 01-Mar-13 17:00:38

I was very nervous about my first mumsnet meet up.

Don't be like me on the last Cheltenham one, forget the date and not turn up!

PatTheHammer Fri 01-Mar-13 18:34:50

Galena- I've met you before I'm sure you came to the last one? Don't be scared, everyone was lovely at that one grin

SizzleSazz Fri 01-Mar-13 18:43:08

I've met you too Galena, I may have been Crispy (not literally mind you!) at the time though

I am struggling for a babysitter at the mo but remain hopeful.......

Galena Fri 01-Mar-13 19:04:56

I did come to the last one, so I have met some of you I know (but please don't expect me to REMEMBER you, that's asking too much grin )

Possiblyoutedled Fri 01-Mar-13 19:21:50

Galena. Dud you stay behind putting the world to rights with me and Dollytwat

MyCatIsAStupidBastard Fri 01-Mar-13 19:40:10

Hello, i may not be able to make it, I'm really sorry. Just had a big bill in (car) and am going to Ladies Day at the races the week after and cant really afford a meal and night out as well as that.

If I happen to have got my sums wrong or you decide to go for drinks then I'll come (going to put my expenses in at wk on Monday so if they get paid it should be ok).Sorry to be a pain.

Ps Getorf, i am rather taken with your name too...be you a farm girl?

Possiblyoutedled Fri 01-Mar-13 20:29:16

mycat I'm going to the races too. What day is ladies day I'm doing thurs and fri.
Could you come for just a drink? Be nice to see you

SizzleSazz Fri 01-Mar-13 21:27:26

I'm going Thurs Led!

Ladies days is Weds

Possiblyoutedled Fri 01-Mar-13 21:41:42

Oh sizz let's meet for a bev. Races are like Christmas for me I'm so excited.

DollyTwat Fri 01-Mar-13 23:52:53

Thanks for organising Getorf, brilliant job, we've finally done it!
I'm sure I won't remember everyone I met last time, but yes me ledkr and a few others stayed late to sort the world out!
Is glove still on here?

MyCatIsAStupidBastard Sat 02-Mar-13 07:38:20

Sazz is right ladies day is Weds. Been invited through wk so couldn't possibly say no grin

Ledkr Sat 02-Mar-13 07:40:48

Glove is foxache I believe dolly. Will you recognise me do you think? I might ask Y she's a mumsnetter

DollyTwat Sat 02-Mar-13 10:41:43

Ledkr you are unforgettable!

Galena Sat 02-Mar-13 10:45:01

I will have gone early - I'm a bit of a lightweight (not physically, unfortunately) and have a non-sleeping DD, so I will probably be tucked up warm in bed by midnight...

dannyboyle Sun 03-Mar-13 22:57:13

I would have got courage to join you but husband is out that night at an agm and I have no babysitter. Will do next time...............

foxache Tue 05-Mar-13 00:07:28

Sorry Dolly, yes I was glove, I did type that a couple of times on the thread but was worried about relevance blush I hope you had a good result last Friday btw.

I have a sitter for Friday, but have promised to be home by 11.30 as it's their first time. It'll be a festival of xbox and crisps. I might get to the pub early smile Now I have a dilemma of how much to pay.

SizzleSazz Tue 05-Mar-13 07:03:21

Still can't get a sitter for Fri sad. Will keep trying.

Led, I have been invited to a corporate event on thurs but may well be able to sneak away for a bevvy!

Ledkr Tue 05-Mar-13 07:31:46

Fox I pay five an hour but the sitter is a woman of 24 so don't feel can pay less. I'd need hundreds if I couldn't watch the tv grin

Galena Tue 05-Mar-13 12:21:18

smile (Just making sure I don't lose the thread!)

foxache Tue 05-Mar-13 18:26:18

Thanks Led, I'll work it out from that then. It's going to be an experience for all!

Sazz, I hope you can find a sitter and Crunchies, sorry you can't make it, come to the next one?

PatTheHammer Wed 06-Mar-13 14:55:17

Sazz and MyCat if you are still coming????

I am probs going to drive over as I have a hellishly busy saturday which includes getting DD over to cirencester for a birthday party before 10am on saturday morning. Decided its best NOT to drink!

Anyways, I can pick you guys up if you need a lift, have arranged sitters. Let me know!

AddictedtoCrunchies Wed 06-Mar-13 15:38:40

Yes please I'd love to.

Galena Wed 06-Mar-13 15:45:44

I'm planning on driving... so if anyone round the Cheltenham area (we're west of the town centre, but am happy to pick up within reason) wants a lift, let me know... I won't be staying terribly late though. We've had a few crap nights with DD and I'll be falling asleep before too long!

SizzleSazz Wed 06-Mar-13 17:22:01

Hi Pat, still no luck on babysitters - I use babysitters from the creche but they are all on a night out together <pah>. I'm going to put a last chance shout out on FB to see if anyone can do it, but it's looking unlikely at the mo sad

SizzleSazz Wed 06-Mar-13 17:22:34

But thanks for the offer of a lift! I'll keep you posted....

Ledkr Wed 06-Mar-13 17:54:28

Galena is west if cheltenham past c kings? No worries if not though I'm happy to bus it.

Galena Wed 06-Mar-13 18:56:52

It's not, but I'm absolutely, perfectly happy to come and pick you up - I am more likely to turn up if I have to pick someone up grin

GetOrf Wed 06-Mar-13 19:51:36

Are we meeting in a pub beforehand or just at vine at 8?

DollyTwat Wed 06-Mar-13 21:06:57

I'm going to taxi it (from prestbury) unless anyone is very near and driving, so can pick up in my taxi if anyone wants

I think I'm going to meet at the pub at 8 if that's ok, less of a rush for the babysitter.

GetOrf Wed 06-Mar-13 21:32:08

Let's meet at the pub then - makes sense.

I am going to skulk back to MIL's afterwards, she is off to Oman for 6 weeks the day after so will drunkenly say goodbye. Sure she will be thrilled grin

I can't dirnk too much really as have got to drive the next day. She has her driving test at the end of the month - what will I do when I am no longer mum's taxi!

GetOrf Wed 06-Mar-13 21:33:17

Drive dd I mean to say.

Ledkr Wed 06-Mar-13 22:13:27

Ok I'm happy to meet at 8 too help dh get the ginger one to bed and furnish lairy Mary with sweets.
Dolly and I are very moderate drinkers so will be a quiet night.
Galena ill get the bus it's door to door literally x
I'm looking forward to it

JALG Wed 06-Mar-13 22:17:08

Hi folks, just picked up this thread as posted last night and am amazed to come across a group of mumsnetters in Cheltenham. I am in Woodmancote. Am already out in town for a drink on Friday so could join or maybe tag onto the next meet. I am separated soon to be divorced with 2 DD's 9 & 20. Would like to meet anyone who has recently steered their life through this and is feeling that it was all worthwhile! cheers

Ledkr Wed 06-Mar-13 22:36:19

Hi jalg yes join us. You have a huge age gap between your children. I have a 28 yr old and a 2 yr old with three in between. I have been through divorce as have a few if us. How about I pm you my mobile no and you can text me Friday.

JALG Wed 06-Mar-13 22:41:59

DollyTwat Wed 06-Mar-13 22:59:43

Yes me and ledkr are very quiet and don't drink much at all

BIWI Wed 06-Mar-13 23:04:48

Dolly! grin

GetOrf Wed 06-Mar-13 23:06:39

You pair of FIBSTERS grin

Hello jalg - yes more than welcome to join us

BIWI Wed 06-Mar-13 23:09:54

I'm reading this thread with much envy

Hope you all have a lovely time!

Ledkr Thu 07-Mar-13 07:02:27

You can come BIWI we Will be consuming many carbs grin

GetOrf Thu 07-Mar-13 07:06:02

Come BIWI to Cheltenham. Me and Dolly came to that London last year, you come to this one and we will show you the inside of bars the sights of regency Cheltenham grin

DollyTwat Thu 07-Mar-13 07:54:41

Do it
Do it
Do it

We will look after you promise
I have a sofa you can sleep on

BIWI Thu 07-Mar-13 08:28:34

I'm envious because I can't come! Thanks for the offer though grin I'd love to see you again, GetOrf/Dolly - and to meet you Ledkr.

I shall be hosting a very civilised, low carb but alcohol-fuelled dinner party that evening.

Otherwise ...

JALG Thu 07-Mar-13 11:06:19

Hi Ledkr - just came on quick as at work but have no messagge in my inbox, not sure how to PM but will try. ( there must be instructions somewhere) otherwise just leave time and place and we can meet up. My mate my pull out on me and as my BF has just dumped me I would really like some company, stops me getting all morose ha ha. Oh and yes a massive (11 year) age gap cos hubby was busy having a fling with somebody or other and didnt have time to make babies (GIT) !! looking forward to meeting some near normals and a G & T ( i dont/can't drink too much - bit of a lightweight too)

DollyTwat Thu 07-Mar-13 13:36:29

Jalg that's awful, we will cheer you up

GetOrf Fri 08-Mar-13 10:48:58

i have woken up with a cold. I will be the one with a red nose looking like Sid Snot. grin

foxache Fri 08-Mar-13 12:03:15

I have a woolly cold too, and spots, I will look marvelous hmm And I sound like a man. Looking forward to it though!

I wonder if anyone does irish coffee (if that's what it's called) - coffee, cream and whiskey...

Galena Fri 08-Mar-13 13:18:30

I feel like crap too. Child hasn't been sleeping. I haven't been sleeping. Child also decided it was a good idea to pour a full cup of half a pint of milk all over the table and floor at lunchtime. I'm pure evil today so I'll see how it goes. I may call off because I'm really not god company today. sad

Ledkr Fri 08-Mar-13 13:52:25

Aw dropping like flies you are! Bit of grub will sort that out. I'm looking forward to it too as long as I don't catch all the colds and skin complaints grin

GetOrf Fri 08-Mar-13 14:18:05

Oh god at the milk spilling everywhere!

I hope everyone feels better soon. I am sure we can find some Irish coffee somewhere.

PatTheHammer Fri 08-Mar-13 14:40:00

I have a cold too..........Ahhh, we all match!

Anyone wanting a lift? I'll be coming in via the Shurdington Road end of Chelt so anyone on that side can pick up.

PatTheHammer Fri 08-Mar-13 14:41:28

I realised I had a cold yesterday when I was happily chatting to a parent at parent's evening and a drip of snot fell out my nose.

Mortified blush

Ledkr Fri 08-Mar-13 16:58:11

How lovely pat! I'm sat in soft play with a my two year old who seems to have injured her arm. Aibu to still come out and leave dh to deal with a and e?

GetOrf Fri 08-Mar-13 17:03:57

Oh god are you at that soft play at Kingsditch?

You will need some wine later...

I have done that with the snot. I have also laughed and blew a big snot bubble out of my nose at a work meeting in a new job.

GetOrf Fri 08-Mar-13 17:04:25

Oh god I read that again about your dd's arm. I hope she is OK.

GetOrf Fri 08-Mar-13 17:23:14

What's everyone wearing <5th former>

Are people getting dolled up or wearing jeans?

GetOrf Fri 08-Mar-13 17:23:27

lol at dolled up. Christ I sound like my aunt nancy.

GetOrf Fri 08-Mar-13 17:25:39

And why is it raining? My hair is going to look like wreck of hesperus.

PatTheHammer Fri 08-Mar-13 17:27:09

Trousers, top with sparkly bits, heels, and a blazer type jacket.......I think!

Ledkr-How is DD's arm??

PatTheHammer Fri 08-Mar-13 17:28:03

Getorf- my hair does NOT like the rain either, considering pinning it up to avid the frizz.

foxache Fri 08-Mar-13 17:34:16

I hope dd's arm is ok Ledkr.

I can't do glam but will be applying four more inches of foundation than normal smile I need to get off my arse and prepare.

Galena Fri 08-Mar-13 17:56:08

Hope DD's arm is ok, Ledkr.

Sorry guys and guyesses, I'm going to cry off. I feel like curling up and hibernating. I shall come next time, but for tonight I'm going to eat takeaway, chocolate, drink cider and go to bed early...

foxache Fri 08-Mar-13 18:03:10

Oh Galena sad that's a shame. You know where we are, it's not too late to change your mind!
Have a good evening though, hope to see you next time.

PatTheHammer Fri 08-Mar-13 18:04:59

Galena sad.

Enjoy the takeaway and cider though!

Galena Fri 08-Mar-13 18:07:38

Thanks. sad Have fun - and raise a wine for me!

SizzleSazz Fri 08-Mar-13 18:48:36

No babysitter here and DH has gone out. It is MY turn next time i tell ya. He trumps me tonight as it is a school do and he is a Governer. Bollocks angry

I will come next time if i haven't been struck off the list

Have fun and a few wine for me

GetOrf Fri 08-Mar-13 19:06:12

Oh no that's a shame galena - was looking forward to meeting you.

Hope little ledkr is ok.

GetOrf Fri 08-Mar-13 19:07:05

Aww and you sizz.

PatTheHammer Fri 08-Mar-13 19:10:10

Just getting ready to leave.....what name is the table booked in? Clearly not 'getorf' !
I'll be lolling for led and dolly as i think I will recognise them!

PatTheHammer Fri 08-Mar-13 19:10:45

Looking! I don't do lollinggrin

DollyTwat Fri 08-Mar-13 19:50:48

Our table is by the door
I'm here!!

GreenShadow Fri 08-Mar-13 20:11:47

Hope you all have a lovely time - am very jealous.

I am also a Gloucestershire bod, and in my head would have loved to join you, but am too much of a coward in real life.

Have fun.

Ledkr Sat 09-Mar-13 00:52:48

Green shadow! Shame on you we are well friendly n all.
Just back in after a lovely evening. Just five of us but god fun. We have along way to go before we rival the big London meet ups though. I'm in bed with a crumpet and a mint tea ha ha
Tbh I won't be going to any more meet ups. Bunch of fucking weirdos if I'm honest. grin

DollyTwat Sat 09-Mar-13 01:07:25

I'm just in too!
Fab night, good food and company

Ledkr doesn't think it's a good night unless we get banned from the pub grin

DollyTwat Sat 09-Mar-13 01:08:53

I have crumpets
Do you think if I put them beside the toaster the kids wl get the hint I want one?

Ledkr Sat 09-Mar-13 07:06:48

Ok an I the first one up? D was calling me at six thirty <sobs> I'm watching cbeebies and drinking copious amounts if tea.
dolly talks out if her geeky arse.
Twas she who introduced us to her rough beehive mates who were called things like One armed Jack and stuff grin

PatTheHammer Sat 09-Mar-13 09:06:36

Oh dear 6amshock

I thought 7.30 was bad and I wasn't even drinking!
Great food and company last night, I had a good laugh. Next time I will partake in the wine and stay at hotel in-laws.
Greenshadow, you must come, especially since I know you are in Stroud and I could have given you a lift there and back....(not a stalker, honest!)

Ledkr Sat 09-Mar-13 09:17:06

It was good wasn't it pat? Was funny cheering you on to to your car and you tottering along.
Dh had work so I had to get up I literally felt like I could sleep forever. Am jus led on sofa occasionally changing channels from cbeebies to nick jr as required and providing snacks.
We should defo do it again soon.

DollyTwat Sat 09-Mar-13 10:18:11

Morning! I had tea brought to me at 9.30 grin

Bet you're glad we didn't do the 21 club Ledkr! And when it comes to dodgy friends I seem to remember Mojo being one of yours!!

Great to see everyone, I really liked that pub, the food was great and so quick. Pat it was funny seeing you running to your car, we should have walked you to it shouldn't we!

How was your babysitter Fox? Was ds awake?

Galena Sat 09-Mar-13 10:36:22

Morning all. Glad you had a good time. I had a LONG sleep, and feel far less grumpy today! smile

PatTheHammer Sat 09-Mar-13 12:07:45

That was quite possibly the best run I've ever done after 3 Marlboro lightsgrin

Suffering with my cold todayhmm

GetOrf Sat 09-Mar-13 12:15:43

Christ I was pissed <headthrob>

I have just got up, eaten a bag of haribos and half a packet of caramel digestives and I am going back to bed.

I am going out for afternoon tea at 3 <waaah>

I had a lovely time but I couldn't walk in those bloody boots after 3 glasses of wine.

It was lovely to meet you all.

Ledkr Sat 09-Mar-13 15:51:19

It's so weird now getorf when you post and I see you instead of the sturdy brunette I'd previously imagined grin
I'm going to stop off for haribbos on my way home from the dance show in watching zzzzzzzzzzzz
Glad you feel better galeno
I feel a bit grumpy. Ds have felt my wrath a few times today.

foxache Sat 09-Mar-13 16:49:08

I'm not surprised Led, 6:30's a harsh time to get up shock I had to drag my red eyes and ds to a family lunch this morning, am glad to be home!

It was a lovely evening, really nice to see and meet everyone, we should do it again soon, maybe next month? The weather will be nice enough to sit outside. How was the other pub?

The babysitter was fine thanks Dolly, although I failed a bit with the babysitting etiquette - how to send them home? He seemed quite happy to stay and keep playing and chatting, I felt a bit rude just packing him off. In the end his mum called blush

DollyTwat Sat 09-Mar-13 21:04:41

Ah yes if you have a babysitter who can't drive you have to pay their taxi home. All adds up

My friend had a BBQ today so I had to wait til the boys went to their dads til I had a glass of wine. Then ds1 decided he didn't want to go as he was having fun at the party. For an awful minute I thought he wasn't going to go! He did in the end under protest!
So have had a lovely afternoon chatting with friends eating and sipping more wine

GreenShadow Sat 09-Mar-13 21:05:35

Thanks for comments Ledkr and Pat.

Glad you had such a good time.

Pat - Thanks for the offer - am certainly in Stroud and not at all bothered about the 'stalking' thing - rather flattered that anyone has actually noticed me as I'm not a prolific poster!

Trouble is, posting on MN is a great equaliser but in real life, I think I'd feel a bit old compared to most of you lot - my DC are all well past baby/childhood and are secondary school age and beyond.

DollyTwat Sat 09-Mar-13 21:43:09

Greenshadow you really don't need to worry!
Mine are starting secondary soon and some of us have older children too
None if us are spring chickens, but we are all fabulous grin

Ledkr Sat 09-Mar-13 22:25:34

Ahem... green my eldest is 29 My youngest is 2. I have a grandson of three. You will be fine and pleasantly surprised.
dolly a BBQ? It's march!!! Are they mental?
I had more vino too am off to my pit now as am exhausted from my long day which began at dawn.

foxache Sat 09-Mar-13 23:42:38

Led, I still can't believe you have a grandchild smile

I am old too. Feel ancient at the moment as I too popped out for wine, glad I'm not the only one. My eyes are tiny red dots.

Shall we try for another meet-up soon in late April? hopefully those who couldn't make it yesterday can come too.

GetOrf Sun 10-Mar-13 08:57:47

I still can't believe ledkr is a grandmother and has a child who is nearly 30 - certainly don't look old enough!

Yes fox shall we try for another one in late april? Like you say the weather will be better (har har) and we can sit outside somewhere. And hopefully none of us will have colds.

Green we are all of different ages and some with older kids - mine is 17.

Galena Sun 10-Mar-13 09:08:51

Late April would be good - although DD's birthday party is 21st, so I'd prefer not that weekend...

SizzleSazz Sun 10-Mar-13 09:14:17

I can't do 25th weekend as away.....

VBisme Sun 10-Mar-13 10:03:12

Could I join in please? I'm a stepmum rather than a mum blush does that count? Am in dursley, so quite close to Stroud.

Ledkr Sun 10-Mar-13 10:09:33

Aw shucks you guys I'm good with makeup!!
VB of course you can join us the more the merrier.
I think late April is ok but if you all decide a date ill see if dh working and get a sitter if he is.

Bloody hell, I forgot about this as it fell off my active convos list.

You lot got a narrow escape grin

Can we meet up before May? As thats when I shall be ttc and Im not meeting up without wine selfish reason overshare

GetOrf Sun 10-Mar-13 10:30:37

See if we could all find a date to avoid anyone having to pay for babysitters - dolly having to pay for a taxi home as well for them is madness, that must have cost a fortune!

GetOrf Sun 10-Mar-13 10:33:36

It's all a bit different from when I babysat as a kid. A tenner, eat all the food in the cupboards and a walk home at 3 in the morning grin

Ledkr Sun 10-Mar-13 11:06:06

I agree that's too expensive. If dh is on a late shift he can take over pay the sitter so not too bad for me.
getorf agree about the babysitting. It was always a good place for a good snogging session too as long as the kids were little it asleep.
I'd have been horrified if if actually had to do more than check the children
I am currently sat in bed waiting for my Mother's Day breakfast which seems to have turned into lunch!
Been awake since 8 and Im hank Marvin !
I can smell it burning cooking

foxache Sun 10-Mar-13 12:44:48

I hope you get your lunch Led! I was given coffee and toast in bed (thanks for the idea Dolly grin) Lots of odd questions in the preparation 'what number lightness do you like it? Do you want ketchup?' It was very nice.

The weekends available in April then are; 5/6th, 13/14th, and maybe Friday 19th if Galena can make it.

How about 13/14th?

foxache Sun 10-Mar-13 12:45:55

12/13th sorry, Friday or Saturday.

Galena Sun 10-Mar-13 15:18:53

Yeah, can do 12/13 or 26/27 I'd prefer not the 19th, although I'd cope...

DollyTwat Sun 10-Mar-13 21:01:56

Can't do 12th already have plans
Could do 13th but will have to get babysitter

SizzleSazz Mon 11-Mar-13 14:11:50

I can do 19th. 13th and 26/27 not possible though

GetOrf Mon 11-Mar-13 14:31:25

5/6th - that seems OK for everyone. Any dissenters? Or is it too soon (and is it in the middle of the easter holidays, I have forgotten).
12/13th - no good
19/20th - 19th no good, what about 20th?
26/27th - not possible.

Galena Mon 11-Mar-13 14:46:41

Can't do 5/6 or 20 blush

Sorry, I'm so awkward. sad

foxache Mon 11-Mar-13 14:48:09

5/6th is the last weekend of the holidays I think. It's the only one nobody has difficulty with so far.
If not then then the 19th is the most possible if Galena doesn't mind, but if it's too complicated with the birthday, we can think again, it would be nice if you could come.

My social diary confirms that I am free on all dates smile It had better not still be snowing by then.

foxache Mon 11-Mar-13 14:48:41

x-post, sorry!

GetOrf Mon 11-Mar-13 14:53:20

No, you're not awkward Galena, just want to make it the best date possible for most people without anyone having to fork out for babysitters.

Is the 19th impossible Galena?

Galena Mon 11-Mar-13 17:58:23

19th is ok, if no other dates are any good. 20th isn't smile

PatTheHammer Mon 11-Mar-13 21:30:07

I think I can do the 5th/6th at the moment. Not so much the 19th/20th as may be in Sussex.

Shit it was cold today shock

GetOrf Tue 12-Mar-13 12:35:46

It's freezing today as well. And drunkards (not me) at gloucester station this morning.

It doesn't look very goood for april - how is everyone fixed for may? Bit awkward with bank hols etc.

Galena Tue 12-Mar-13 13:30:28

In May I can't do 10/11 or 24. However, we haven't thought about bank holidays really yet...

foxache Tue 12-Mar-13 18:06:20

Maybe we could do 5/6th April and then another in May so Galena can come?

Galena Tue 12-Mar-13 18:47:34

Waaaaah! You'll all be BFF's by May and I'll be Billy No Mates. <sniff>

<Might have spent too long with the 3-year-old today...>

<Needs wine but driving tonight so can't>

<Eats chocolate instead>

GetOrf Tue 12-Mar-13 18:56:34

Shall we do that then - one on 5 or 6th april, and then another one WITH GALENA in may grin

DollyTwat Tue 12-Mar-13 19:13:50

I could do the 5th April
But not the 6th
Could do 3rdmay

Thought I'd wait til you'd thrashed out some dates

Galena Tue 12-Mar-13 22:03:53

GetOrf Fri 15-Mar-13 06:29:03

Shall we go for the 5th April then? Dolly do you need to get a sitter on that night though? Galena we could then do one in May.

Who else can come?

DollyTwat Fri 15-Mar-13 09:47:12

Yes I'll need a sitter but that's ok
I can't rely on fuckwit to keep to his weekends anyway

foxache Fri 15-Mar-13 10:13:30

yes I can do the 5th, sitter or not. Please let it be warm enough that we can smoke outside.

GetOrf Fri 15-Mar-13 15:00:39

Yes - it has got to be warm. I mean come on. How long has this bloody cold snap lasted.

PatTheHammer Sat 16-Mar-13 09:25:02

I can do the 5th, are we going for food again?

PatTheHammer Sat 16-Mar-13 09:25:47

Warmed up today, just bloody pissing it down. Gotta love spring in this country.

GetOrf Sat 16-Mar-13 11:26:43

I walked into town this morning, blowing a gale and my hair now looks crazy.

Just bought myself an ipad mini on a whim and am now struggling to put the sim card in with the fucking stupid tuning fork tool I don't understand. And my dd is at work so can't help. I am a moron.

Shall we go for the 5th then? Food would be a good idea - shall we do that again?

GetOrf Sat 16-Mar-13 11:40:13

I am frightened of my ipad. It is altogether too perfect looking.

It's like when I bought a Kitchenaid on a whim drunk internet shopping because it looked so cool and then when it turned up and I put it in the kitchen I shrieked 'don't touch it' to dd and didn't want to use it to sully it. Mad.

DollyTwat Sat 16-Mar-13 12:04:02

Getorf you just poke the little hole with the spikey thing and it will pop out

I am very jealous of your iPad mini, ds2 has one and I covet it

GetOrf Sat 16-Mar-13 12:11:25

Oh I thought you kind of hoiked it out. No wonder it didn't work.

I will have another go.

It looks great. I want to get one of those silicone integrated keyboard things for it. Makes my crappy old blackberry look like those old mobile phones we laugh at in films from the 90s.

DollyTwat Sat 16-Mar-13 12:26:58

Give it a hard push

Ds1 has a blackberry, I can't work it out at all with its clicky clacky teeny keys

DollyTwat Sat 16-Mar-13 12:28:15

It's the same as your cd drive on a PC. If it gets stuck you jam a paper clip in it!

GetOrf Sat 16-Mar-13 12:37:01

I have poked it really hard. Still won't work. Then I wondered if it was the right bloody hole. Can't get the damn thing out and I don't want to be too rough with it.

It's like a newborn baby when you just hold it and think 'christ'. No doubt I will be slinging the ipad about within days grin

SizzleSazz Sat 16-Mar-13 16:29:57

I have some MN friends coming to stay that weekend but not sure if turning up Fri or Sat. So i'm afraid i'll have to be a maybe again unless we abandon the DC's with the DH's and all come to Cheltenham grin

GetOrf Sat 16-Mar-13 18:15:37

Ledkr can't come because she is going to see one direction! She can do the 6th but that's trouble others isn't it?

My dd helped put the sim in and I have had a wonderful hour mucking around on my new ipad. I have bought one of those silicone keyboard things from amazon though as I can't yep very we'll on this keyboard with these fat fingers. grin

GetOrf Sat 16-Mar-13 18:15:49

DollyTwat Sat 16-Mar-13 20:07:02

I'm in Cardiff on the 6th but don't let that stop you if most can do the sat

Did you know you called me earlier Getorf? I thought you were calling for technical support!

GetOrf Sat 16-Mar-13 20:27:06

Oh sorry! That wasn't me, I lent my phone to dd as she had her new iphone5 was waiting to have the sim upgraded and she needed a phone to call me from work - she must have called you by mistake! Sorry about that.

DollyTwat Sat 16-Mar-13 20:34:15

No worries! I was hiding upstairs in my bedroom as I had a lounge full if boys playing minecraft

SizzleSazz Sat 16-Mar-13 20:35:53

GetOrf - do you have Dolly in your phone as DollyTwat? grin

DollyTwat Sun 17-Mar-13 22:19:51

grin maybe that's why she called!!

Ledkr Sun 17-Mar-13 22:35:32

Nobody ever calls me!! Leave me I'm ok we can do another one in may. Sorry but Harry styles must take priority.

DollyTwat Sun 17-Mar-13 23:13:48

I'll call you ledkr
I won't talk
You can listen to me shouting at my dc (like I did earlier to someone)
I'm on a Cardiff tweetup on the 6 th or I could do then

Creameggkr Sat 23-Mar-13 15:53:22

Was anything decided??Hmm? I dont want to be left out <sobs>

DollyTwat Sat 23-Mar-13 18:34:31

I've got the 5th in my diary and exFW is having the dc

No venue chosen yet
I'll put a vote in for either the Vine again or Montpellier

Creameggkr Sat 23-Mar-13 18:48:39

Well I stil can't come then <sulks>

foxache Sat 23-Mar-13 21:42:24

I'm gutted you can't come sad
When can you come next? We can just do another soon, there's always someone who can't make it so if they're more regular it won't matter so much.

Creameggkr Sat 23-Mar-13 23:44:59

I'm gutted too. Yes do another soon after pleeeeeese

GetOeuf Thu 28-Mar-13 21:09:19

Just checking to see if everyone is still up for the 5th , just spoken to fox on another thread. I will email dolly as well to check.

Such a shame that lekdr can't come. But we will have another one in May.

Where shall we go? Shall we go Montpellier end?

foxache Thu 28-Mar-13 21:17:08

Anywhere's good, I don't know that end so well but nice to find new places. what was the Swan like?

Creameggkr Thu 28-Mar-13 22:47:09

<scowls> have fun. Dolly will be close enough to the beehive to insist on a visit ha ha
I shall be bopping with the shrill cries of teenage girls in my ears shock

DollyTwat Thu 28-Mar-13 23:18:19

We will mis you ledkr, but we must do it again in may. Perhaps bi-monthly?

I'm def up for it Getorf I have childcare all sorted and everything!
Have a spare bed if anyone (I have met before) needs it

I'm easy on the venue, the Vines (swan) was good value and quick so anywhere like that in Montpellier?

foxache Fri 29-Mar-13 00:48:19

I wish you were coming Led, you'll have to name the date in May.

Would anyone mind if I didn't eat? I'm happy to just drink beer or could meet you after if you decide on a restaurant. Shame that the dream of sitting in a Spring beer garden looks unlikely unless we dress for the Arctic (or find heaters)

Creameggkr Fri 29-Mar-13 00:48:57

Can't do last weekend in may any others ok tho xx

foxache Sun 31-Mar-13 16:09:14

10/11th May any good for you Led? Or there's 3/4th or 17/18th.

Who's coming this Friday?

PatTheHammer Sun 31-Mar-13 23:18:04

There is a Thai in Montpellier, used to be an Indian that I didn't like but looks to have changed hands. There is an All Bar One.....do they do food? Or we could try Tivoli for better value food and then walk to Montpellier?

DollyTwat Sun 31-Mar-13 23:44:34

The Tivoli is lovely, very trendy, I'll vote for that. Good idea

Creameggkr Mon 01-Apr-13 00:12:04

Tivoli is scarily close to THE BEEHIVE ladies grin

DollyTwat Mon 01-Apr-13 00:34:37

Ssshh you're not coming!
It's quite near
And we are not banned (yet) grin

HappierTimes Mon 01-Apr-13 12:09:01

Hi is it the 5th you are going? Need to check what I am working this week but might be to come, if thats ok. I am actually in Gloucester but work Tewkesbury so pass Cheltenham daily.

Creameggkr Mon 01-Apr-13 12:31:49

May id ok for me 4/5 is good cis won't need a sitter

DollyTwat Mon 01-Apr-13 13:24:52

So shall we start a list of who's coming Friday?

Happiertimes (yes please come, all welcome)

If we can agree a venue and have an idea of numbers we can reserve a table

GreenShadow Mon 01-Apr-13 17:02:01

Sorry, can't make this week - DS is in a play in Stroud and I helping out this Friday. I will try and make the next one though.

HappierTimes Mon 01-Apr-13 21:06:28

What sort of time? Any advice on parking. I dont know Cheltenham very well. I am actually going tomorrow for my 3rd time.

DollyTwat Mon 01-Apr-13 23:08:50

Well if we go to the Tivoli there's parking outside I think, or nearby

Shall we agree the Tivoli? Shall I reserve a table for 7?

foxache Tue 02-Apr-13 00:42:28

Yes, thanks Dolly, I've not been there before so it'll be nice. I really won't be eating though, does anyone mind?

HappierTimes Tue 02-Apr-13 09:29:15

yes I am definitely comingsmile I am coming from Gloucester if anyone wants a lift.

Ledkr Tue 02-Apr-13 18:27:09

Take a cheese and pickle sarnie foxache grin

DollyTwat Tue 02-Apr-13 19:25:22

Ok I've booked the Tivoli for 7 of us at 7.30 is that ok with everyone?

It's booked in my real name!

HappierTimes Tue 02-Apr-13 20:07:08

7:30 is great.
I was looking forward to going in and asking for dollytwats table grin
I don't know your real name,

PatTheHammer Tue 02-Apr-13 21:11:49

I make that only 4 of us eating!wink
I can't decide whether to stay at my Inlaws or not. If I do I feel the rest of Saturday may be a right off .........

foxache Tue 02-Apr-13 22:10:25

Thanks for booking Dolly, I promise not to take too many secret sandwiches and show you all up.
It'd be nice if you didn't have to drive Pat smile

HappierTimes Fri 05-Apr-13 00:07:10

I have a vomiting 6 year old at the moment so not sure if I will make it sad will see how she goes.

DollyTwat Fri 05-Apr-13 00:13:10

Sorry to hear that Happier
This sickness bug has taken hold in Gloucestershire, so many I know have had it
Hope she's over the worst and you can stil come

Ledkr Fri 05-Apr-13 08:35:12

On our way to one direction woop woop
Y'all have a good time now and ill see you next month xx

DollyTwat Fri 05-Apr-13 09:20:39

Keep yer knickers on ledkr

#Wand erection

PatTheHammer Fri 05-Apr-13 17:02:32

Dd has been ill as well, not sickness but a virus with high temp. She seems better today but I'm not going to stay out at in laws so afraid I'll be driving again hmm still coming though!

HappierTimes Fri 05-Apr-13 17:30:19

Not going to be able to come. We saw every hour in over night and I am now getting some strange rumblings going on. confused

DollyTwat Sat 06-Apr-13 00:13:42

Good night to tonight, to those who remembered (cough cough)

We did end up at the Beehive too
Next one in may then ladies?

Ledkr Sat 06-Apr-13 07:38:27

Who didn't come dolly? Was it that getorf again?
Not seen her on here for ages

DollyTwat Sat 06-Apr-13 08:39:37

She forgot ledkr! Must be her age grin

How was wand erection?

The Beehive was very busy and loud but ok, Tivoli was nice too. The food is very nice, bit pricey but huge portions. Wine was £18 so a bit steep!

Did we agree the date for the next one? I guess we could try somewhere different each time?

Ledkr Sat 06-Apr-13 10:01:03

Aw they were good and Ella was so chuffed I'm glad we came.

Yes let's do another. Ill check calendar when we get back.

Let's go somewhere where a bottle of wine is reasonable or we could do a byo curry and well... Byo!

BooMum123 Sun 07-Apr-13 22:22:03

Hello - (Dolly, I have a different nickname but I'm the same person...)

Just wanted to pop along and introduce myself, I'm the new local editor for the Cheltenham and Gloucester Mumsnet Local site (here: local.mumsnet.com/cheltenham-gloucester)

To be honest, you seem to be managing perfectly well - but I am here if you need anything and at the moment working to get local talk moving, lots of good listings and (v importantly) reviews.

Anyway, I'm here and the local site is there for you to use.

Hope you all had a lovely time on Friday and a nice weekend. I was a bit confused by being able to leave my gloves at home to be honest...

GreenShadow Mon 08-Apr-13 12:49:31

Congratulations BooMum123. I'm glad someone has taken on this roles.

I keep popping over to both the Chelt and Glos one and the general Gloucestershire site, hoping that it will spring to life and get some local dialogue going. Trouble is, everyone else is like me, and waiting for someone else to start things off.

Maybe part of the problem is that it is OK if you live in Chelt or Glos themselves, but if you live outside the larger towns then 'Gloucestershire' is such a wide area that those of us in the south have little in common with those in Twekesbury or its surrounds.

BooMum123 Mon 08-Apr-13 13:34:20

Hello GreenShadow - and thanks!

I def know what you mean about the Gloucestershire site and I'll have a look into it. At the moment I'm just looking after Mumsnet Local Chelt and Glos, so will aim to work out a way for the 2 sites to link properly first and then carry on from there.

Hopefully once both sites are busier, there'll be lots there for everyone (good plan...) - but leave it with me.

GreenShadow Mon 08-Apr-13 22:19:21

Brilliant Boo.
I've seen so many mums who have just moved to the area post on various Glos threads in the past and so few people reply - would be great if there was more support here.

HelenDaniels Mon 08-Apr-13 22:27:00

I am really sorry, I am an absolute moron for forgetting. I only bumped this thread last week fgs.

In my defence (and I know it sounds twattish) but have had a rough couple of weeks, have got CIN 3 cells in a smear so had a cone biopsy and loop diathermy colposcopy thing where they said that they had a lot of cells, so am very worried that it has turned to something more sinister. Anyway I was supposed to get the results last week but they were delayed because of the bank holiday so was pretty upset, spoke to XP about it and he offered to take me out for dinner and cocktails to cheer me up, was in All Bar One with a porn star martini (what a name) when dolly rang and I was 'oh SHIT'

So I am sorry I missed it, definitely want to come to the next one. I am a slack twat aren't I.

DollyTwat Mon 08-Apr-13 22:56:06

Oh lovely I'm so sorry. Have you had the results yet? Please tell me it's all ok.
