When meeting up take sensible precautions. Meet in a public place and let others know where you are going. You can also meet mums on your local site here.

dates suggested- 17th Nov, 24th Nov or 1st Dec? Majority vote wins.

Where? Cocktails in Ebony in Durham from 7/7.30 ish then on to wherever can fit us in with an 8.30 booking within tottering distance from Ebony. My vote would be The Capital grin.

Cocktails- Woo!

I'd like to avoid 24th to fit in with bloody football.

I'd also vote for The Capital. Tis ages since we've been and you can't beat a decent curry.

I was feeling in the Christmas mood yesterday after accidently on purpose wandering through the John Lewis Chirstmas department.

goldenretriever Fri 19-Oct-12 09:39:10

Hello everypne. Oooh, just having a good look at the site for the first time in a year. Can I come too?!! Have just moved house near Durham and there is so much to do that getting out of the house is an enticing prospect (if you know what I mean...)

Hello goldenretriever smile of course you can come- the more the merrier!

We do general cake based meet ups fairly regularly over here so you will have plenty of reasons to get out of the house. grin

Indith Fri 19-Oct-12 13:32:31

Hello goldenretriever, of course you can come! We like newbies.

So down to 17th Nov or 1st Dec.

Guest List

Saw Kara today, she will decide last min depending on C's sleep.

I can do the 1/12 but not 17/11 (singing in t'cathedral ... assuming my lung capacity isn't too compressed by then! I'm starting to get breathless during lectures already!)

Indith Sat 20-Oct-12 20:27:34

So does that bring us to the 1st Dec then?

Bumpy bump. Who else wants to come? Come on you lot!

juneybean Sun 21-Oct-12 17:31:58

I definitely can't do 17th, but will get back to you about 1st (haven't got hours yet)

Indith Sun 21-Oct-12 19:10:24

Fingers crossed juney, not seen you in ages!

VikingLady Sun 21-Oct-12 21:52:32

I may be able to come, depending on whether I can induce V to accept dh putting her to bed/feeding her. When do i need to be able to confirm?

BrittaPerry Sun 21-Oct-12 21:55:55

Can I come? I haven't been to a meet up for AGES.

(I was Butter Pie)

Indith Mon 22-Oct-12 08:06:35

Viking I don't know really, we always end up being terribly last minute and then struggling to find a restaurant grin. Shall attempt to be better organised this time. One or 2 changes at the last min won't matter though, there is always someone drop out due to lack of babysitter or child being ill or something.

Hello stranger smile

Possible Viking and juney.

juneybean Tue 23-Oct-12 18:43:45

I had an awful day and have just downed a glass of wine, I really hope I can make the night out, muchly needed!

Indith Fri 26-Oct-12 13:13:15

Christmassy bump!

Contraversial location suggestion perhaps, but what about afternoon tea and pitta and dips (or that antipasti type platter) at Ebonys in the 4-7pm range rather than ebonys and then dinner elsewhere.

Not that I can enjoy the lubbly cocktails, but I never get to sit relax after work at Ebonys anymore and an excuse to get there without T when it's not packed and noisy would be pretty cool.

Indith Fri 26-Oct-12 16:06:54

Sounds lovely. Trouble is that would mean being out at bedtime feed time which is a no no!

juneybean Fri 26-Oct-12 16:36:09

Ooo I'd be up for that sometime though!

Indith Fri 26-Oct-12 16:47:38

Definitely, when are you due again Leggy? We'll have to try to find a gap between babies when none of us has to be there for bed time! I'm aiming to not have ot be by the end of Jan I reckon so I don't end up in a mad panic once I'm at uni.

Due at start of Feb.

Iguess it would only work as an afternoon thing then? So what are preferences for dinner out?

Indith Fri 02-Nov-12 15:45:46

Bump bump bump bump bump!

juneybean Fri 02-Nov-12 16:10:42

I can't do 1st either

Indith Fri 02-Nov-12 16:53:05

Indith Sat 03-Nov-12 16:44:23

Now look here! Who else is going to come out?

Go and bully people! Where is sticky? Where is Frozen? who hid the polar bear? (well ok I saw her this morning but I forgot so maybe that's my fault). Come on roll up for an evening of cocktails and yummy food (probably curry)

stickylittlefingers Sat 03-Nov-12 22:10:50

thank you Juney for finding me here and Indith for (all) the messages wink Would love to meet up! 8pm + for me is better. Are we decided on 1st (which is fine for me but I see not for everyone)?

Oh yeah I'm with indith on the Capital. I can always eat more curry smile

Indith Sun 04-Nov-12 09:23:14

Yes the 1st. those who can't do the 1st can't do the 17th either. I think. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Possible Viking

VikingLady Mon 05-Nov-12 19:31:19

Not Viking any more - sorry. It's too hard to get home afterwards, and V is still feeding to sleep.

Still, I might be moving closer soon, so maybe the next night out...

Indith Mon 05-Nov-12 19:51:50

sad. I understand how hard it is though when you have to feed the baby to sleep. Been there done that with dd. Ds2 is rubbish at sleeping but so long as I've fed him recently he will merrily go to sleep on dh. I am fully expectig a call home at 10.30 though, that is his time after which he stops allowing dh to resettle him and he needs to make sure I'm still there. Not always to feed but just make sure I still exist. Daft baby.

Indith Mon 05-Nov-12 19:52:29

where are you looking at moving to?

Indith Wed 07-Nov-12 13:53:51

I am going to book at the end of this week. Any stragglers?

VikingLady Wed 07-Nov-12 13:57:50

Newcastle or Durham as DH has a job in Newcastle now, and I can work from home. No decisions yet though as fil has terminal cancer and we'll partly base the move on mil's needs afterwards.

V no longer accepts DH's comfort at all - I think this must be the start of separation anxiety! Poor DH fees quite hurt! I'll keep my fingers crossed that it doesn't last. Still want 4 though.....

Indith Wed 07-Nov-12 14:32:11

Probaby separation anxiety yes. Ds2 isn't too bad once he has established I'm not there (I go to an exercise class once a week) but if I am then he reaches out to me and yells at dh.

Move to Durham, perfect little city smile

sorry about FIL sad

Indith Sun 11-Nov-12 19:21:31

Table booked. All those signed up should have a PM. If you don't have one and think you should then yell! If you are not signed up but want to come or want to bring anyone else then yell, there is still time to jiggle numbers smile

Oops, I was meant to say on Friday - Frozen is up for coming too.

goldenretriever Mon 12-Nov-12 10:19:13

Hi all. I would be ok for December the 1st. Escaping the house is a blessing at the moment. We are having a drive done this week and I was grinning as I took DS to nursery and myself on to work, knowing that I was fleeing for a few hours. Not sure they should have been operating a forklift truck at half seven in the morning...

Indith Mon 12-Nov-12 10:46:01

smile great golden. Look forward to meeting you! If you make it to the drinks in Ebony we are easy to spot. We are the ones looking startled at being out of the house after dark and without children complaining that the music is too loud. Well, I am anyway. Spiggy is the one getting tipsy on belinis grin.

Leggy that'll be fine, I'll confirm numbers with them a few days before so I'll either add her then or someone will drop out (hope not) and it won't matter anyway. One either way isn never a problem!

juneybean Mon 12-Nov-12 14:14:59

I will take a can of shandy to work and be there in spirit!

Local Talk is now working, so if you go into local.mumsnet.com/durham, you can also start a thread in there if it helps. We can also sort out a group meet-ups page like this http://local.mumsnet.com/bath/group-meet-ups/paulton if you like

Only just seen that Indith was impuning my character and suggesting that I'd be getting tipsy on the bellinis. I'd like to take this opportunity to set the record straight and say that I will be the one getting rat-arsed on bellinis. I don't like to do things by half grin

When I saw EmmaMumsnet's name on this thread I thought that we were going to get a HQer at our Christmas do grin Will have a look at the newfangled Local page at some point. Unfortunately at the moment I am trying to finish a chapter on the report I'm supposed to be writing. I only stopped for a bacon sandwich and a sloe gin and a bit of mnetting <applies nose back to grindstone>

Indith Fri 16-Nov-12 08:00:11

I tried looking at local once and it tried to make me choose a new name. I shall have to man up, accept the changes and try again.

I'd love to come if I was invited, but it's a bit far to come for an evening out grin I'm darn sarf.

Ah but we do very good nights out Emma, it'd be worth the trip grin and we wouldn't ply with you drink to get all the inside goss about MNHQ, oh no not us

Indith Fri 16-Nov-12 13:05:01

I think you should come Emma, purely in the interests of reaching out to your far flung Northern members. Anyway, surely the price difference between a curry and cocktails up here and the same in London more than covers the cost of the train ticket? I even have a spare bed you'll just get jumped on by dd in the morning.

ishchel Sun 18-Nov-12 00:42:25

I promised Indith that I am coming. grin

I dreamt last night that I missed the meal and went out with J for dinner instead!

Then remembered that I couldn't have missed the meal because it was still November, and also I wasn't late to meet Frozen because I was clearly still asleep and she isn't due here til nearer lunchtime...

KaraStarbuckThrace Mon 19-Nov-12 13:04:22

Yey Iachel!!
LOL @ Leggy!

KaraStarbuckThrace Mon 19-Nov-12 13:05:07

Dr Frozen

Indith Tue 20-Nov-12 09:59:32

Congratulations Dr Frozen!

Indith Tue 20-Nov-12 10:00:21

Dr Frozen

KaraStarbuckThrace Tue 20-Nov-12 10:57:38

Yey you found the bear :D

goldenretriever Tue 20-Nov-12 16:29:55

Yey - there will be quite a few of us! Though am mildly worried if I go to Ebony beforehand rather than to the restaurant (though as am usually late this will proably not happen) I will be wandering up to random women, blinking in a confused manner at being out on a night and asking 'Indith?', 'Squiggy?'!!!!

Indith Tue 20-Nov-12 17:22:38

We can take a sign of some sort, we've done it before. What shall it be this year, any ideas?

KaraStarbuckThrace Tue 20-Nov-12 19:39:01

Pom Bears, obvsiously smile

Indith Tue 20-Nov-12 20:27:00

A sign and an appetiser all rolled into one.

VikingLady Tue 20-Nov-12 20:28:52

Really wish I could make the Christmas do - I am sorely in need of getting utterly smashed (or at least tipsy)! V took a header off a changing table at the swimming baths yesterday and we spent the day in hospital, waiting to see if she had a brain haemmorhage..... She was fine btw. Not even a bump. I however require a stiff g&t before I can even think about recovering, and I can't because I am still bf!

<Glumly polishes worst Mother award>

Indith Tue 20-Nov-12 20:47:35

Ah we've all dropped them.let me tell you about the time an entire quarter of William's head bruised after an encounterw with the tap or the time I dislocated daisy's elbow some time.

juneybean Tue 20-Nov-12 21:20:52

Argh have the g&t, what's a little gin going to do!

Glad V is alright!

M broke his leg falling of a bed when he was 13 months.

We were both lying on the bed at the time but didn't move at all quickly enough.

And we waited 4 days before we took him to the hospital.

Where the plaster man gleefully told us that it was the smallest plaster that he'd ever done.

<grabs Worst Mother award off Viking and hugs it to her chest> and that's before we mention the delay in taking H to the hospital with severe allergic reaction

goldenretriever Wed 21-Nov-12 13:00:03

Ooooh, I love this thread. I was made to feel like a bad Mum by my OH and MIL because my 2 year old bumped her head at a pirates and princesses party last week end. Try looking after an excited 2 and 3 year old dressed in daft costumes by yourself. Grrr. I could do with a drink already... Not sure about which cunning sign for night out though...

Indith Wed 21-Nov-12 13:39:43

Bumped heads are 2 a penny. I'm sure the children have had at least one each today already. The baby has had several though that is his own fault, he will keep insisting on crawling under the coffee table.

Was it the triple party at Deerness by any chance on the 17th? I was there with dd and the baby. Neither of whom were either pirates or princesses because I forgot about that part.

I need some lunch.

I need some gin too.

When can I put the children to bed?

I shall bring a pombear picture. Won't bring a packet as don't want to get chucked out of ebony for bringing own food or something but I shall put a picture somewhere visible on the table. I'm hoping to feed the baby and get there early enough to be able to allow myself one not too alcoholic cocktail before I have to switch to virgins due to driving and co sleeping so hope someone else will be there with me otherwise me and the bear are going to look rather silly.

you KNOW I'm going to be there grin

I'll be bussing it because, despite all my talk last year of getting a hotel room DS2 still requires a feed in the night, although thankfully it seems to be averaging 4:30am rather than 11, 2, 4, 5 and 6.

Indith Wed 21-Nov-12 16:21:48

Ah well, next year you can get a room and I'll join you.

Well, separate rooms obviously.

VikingLady Wed 21-Nov-12 16:21:57

G&T tonight instead. She's back in her cot rather than my bed (she climbed over the side of her cot when I got her home so she's been in with us until we got round to lowering the base) so I won't drunkenly squish her.

It was 4' onto tiles. She's not a mark on her! But I still have a scar from when I cut my nose aged 3. My face slid down, you could see my skull and blood was squirting, but mum took me to the local doctor because she didn't want to bother the ambulance people. And I had a broken arm for 4 days before they took me to hospital by bus, aged 4..... So maybe I'm not the worst!

Do Pombears count as food?

KaraStarbuckThrace Wed 21-Nov-12 16:32:38

Viking - glad V is okay! Babies are made of rubber though!

Could I extend invite to M (who probably won't come as A is teeny, though I will tell her to bring A if she wants!) and also another MNer friend who lives near Newcastle? Or is it too late? She is lovely, she is a baby wearer and has a gorgeous DD same age as mine.

Indith Wed 21-Nov-12 18:20:04

Who is the other MNer Kara? <<nosey>> I'm afraid I don't think it will be possible this time, I've added you and Frozen but to do that they can't actually seat us until 8.45. We will still go over at 8.30 and we can order and have a drink at the bar so it shouldn't push things too late (I for one am a bit worried about getting back too late with ds2 still being rather demanding on the milk front) but I don't think they'd cope with another 2 being added.

KaraStarbuckThrace Wed 21-Nov-12 20:34:09

Oh that's fine! I hadn't mentioned to them as I had a feeling it might be a bit late!
I can't actually remember her MN nickname, she was on my AN/PN Jun 11 thread but we all live on FB now, in our secret group.

I shall have to remember to invite her to our weekly meet ups although it will depend on when she is free as she works part time.

Same with M!

KaraStarbuckThrace Wed 21-Nov-12 20:36:26

I'm also wondering if it would be helpful for us to order in advance, didn't we do that last time we had a xmas do at The Capital?
linky to foody goodness of the Indian kind nom nom nom

Indith Wed 21-Nov-12 20:50:04

def helpful if people take a look at the menu before going so we can just order right away yes, thanks kara.

If you put down what you want here I shall write it down, if you would like to share rice and naan then say so ans hopefully we will pair off nicely.

Right, chicken achar with vegetable pilau for me. If anyone wants to share the rice and a peshwari naan, all the cinnamonny-goodness-better... ;-)

Indith Thu 22-Nov-12 11:30:16

I'm going to have Lamb Badami with pilau rice and garlic naan, pref someone will go halves on the rice and naan otherwise I'll end up being a great big pig because I can't possibly choose between them, curry without either is simply not possible.

Do we want poppadoms?

KaraStarbuckThrace Thu 22-Nov-12 16:24:11

Indith I will share rice and naan with you!

I'll have a Makhoni Tikka (chicken).

Yes to popadoms!

Methi chicken for me. DH hates it so I don't get it very often.

I'll have a pilau and naan if anyone wants to share?

Oooooh it is nearly here! I am so going to need a drink at Ebony. I have a Christmas festival at nursery followed by a soft play party. And DH rostered himself for working that day without checking so I have to do it on my own with all 3 kids. argh.

KaraStarbuckThrace Fri 23-Nov-12 08:39:53

Poppadums here too!

goldenretriever Fri 23-Nov-12 14:31:12

Oooh Indith, you were mildly psychic before. The pirates and princesses party was on the 17th, but it wasn't at Deerness (sports centre, I'm presuming) but it was still in the Deerness Valley - Esh Winning, to be precise. The glamour of it all.

I will have Lamb Madras and would be happy to shar pilau and naan with Spiffy - I will eat anything, tbh.

Confusingly my 3 year old woke up at 7.30 this morning, came downstairs, had a bit of breakfast and then put his head on the table and fell asleep again... I could do that now, if I wasn't pretending to work...

Just thought golden, there are a couple of photos of me on my profile so you can have a vague idea of who to look for in Ebony grin

I'll pm you my mobile number and you can always give me a ring when you arrive instead of trying to find us it the throng.

Indith Fri 23-Nov-12 16:22:37

I wonder if we have ever crossed paths before golden, my ds1 is at school in Esh winning, the Catholic one and dd was at the nursery attached to the other school until this Sept.

KaraStarbuckThrace Fri 23-Nov-12 16:25:56
goldenretriever Fri 23-Nov-12 19:06:13

Thanks Spiffy, have sent you a pm. Sounds like a just miss Indith, my eldest started at the nursery in Esh Winning this September. We do live really close to the catholic primary though.

Thinking about getting bus back from night out to have a few drinkies. Watching Doc McStuffins. Christ.

Indith Fri 23-Nov-12 19:20:26

I'll be driving golden, given I'll be pretty much driving past your house do you want a lift?

goldenretriever Sat 24-Nov-12 11:20:10

Indith, that's really kind of you. Will PM you. Indian food, a good laugh + the chance to have a few drinks, sounds fab!

My children are behaving suspiciously well today, especially considering am by myself due to football being on. Clearly heading for a fall...

Ah another football widow. I do so love the summer when there is no football even if there is cricket instead

I actually managed to do something crafty this afternoon and it didn't end up in tears it is usually me or someone being sent to their room. There's even some fairly decent Christmas pictures come out of it.

That gets me out of doing it for another year, right?

FivesAndNorks Sat 24-Nov-12 19:36:11

Found you!
Will decide what I want, and post on here
Indith, thank you for your kind offer of a lift which I never replied to if that's still on I would love one thanks. If not, no worries. Also, if you fancy getting bus back golden or even a taxi I'll join you, depending on when Indith wants to go?

FivesAndNorks Sat 24-Nov-12 19:36:52

I am stealthpolarbear and keep forgetting I have name changed
Have a busy day next saturday, meeting friend in the morning, birthday party in afternoona and then night out smile

stickylittlefingers Sat 24-Nov-12 21:10:08

hello! Thanks very much for this smile I would like Chicken Dupiaza. I am happy to share rice/naan of whatever description with anyone! Pilau and plain if I'm choosing.

I am out two Saturdays in a row shock Actually there was a fair amount of shock at one... Looking forward to catching up.

goldenretriever Sun 25-Nov-12 08:47:40

Hi Fives... That would be great. I am at Esh Winning. Perhaps I'm a wimp, but would find going back on the bus alone with all the (other) drunks scary! Or taxi would be good too.

Indith Sun 25-Nov-12 08:48:53

Hello Fives!

Hum Taxi is a point actually, with 3 of us from here going thena taxi back is not too stupidly expensive and I could indulge a little more in those cocktails. However am still happy to drive if people don't want to pay for a taxi. What do you think Fives and golden? Golden Fives and I could meet you in Esh Winning to get the bus in then share a taxi home?

Indith Sun 25-Nov-12 08:49:33

Cross posts. Right then, if taxi is good for us all lets bus in and taxi home smile

KaraStarbuckThrace Sun 25-Nov-12 09:15:18

Okay. So. Food.
Poppodoms - oh yes! Don't forget the mango chutney!

Spiggy Methi chicken pilau + rice and naan (what kind?)
Golden Lamb Madras + will share with Spiggy

Indith Lamb Badami + rice and garlic naan
Kara Makhoni Tikka (chicken) + will share with Indith

sticky chicken Dupiaza + naan(what kind?) and plain rice (want to share with someone)
Leggy chicken achar + veg pilau and peshwari naan (want to share with someone)

Still to choose...

Dr Frozen

And here is the link again - nom nom nom

KaraStarbuckThrace Sun 25-Nov-12 09:16:39

Ischel - I can offer you a lift, but I don't think I'll be setting off before 7.30 so will be missing out on cocktails at Ebony, but if we get a little early to The Capital we can always get a drink at the bar.
Totally up to you smile

stickylittlefingers Sun 25-Nov-12 17:51:02

it was pilau rice and plain naan if i were choosing, but if there's someone wants to share and wants different things I'll go with that. I am omnivorous!

And may I say yay for taxis home, we will have fun smile

FivesAndNorks Sun 25-Nov-12 17:56:42

yes, either fine for me,. I didn't realise cocktails were on the menu at all Indith, if they are then defintely go for it and taxi back
I will pick...tonight, I promise

FivesAndNorks Sun 25-Nov-12 18:06:43

I can't see any vegi dishes apart from thali and biryani actually. I know they do have some, so would it be OK for me to order on the night?

KaraStarbuckThrace Sun 25-Nov-12 21:33:00

Spiggy Methi chicken pilau + rice and naan (what kind?)
Golden Lamb Madras + will share with Spiggy

Indith Lamb Badami + rice and garlic naan
Kara Makhoni Tikka (chicken) + will share with Indith

sticky chicken Dupiaza + plain naan and pilau rice (want to share with someone)

Leggy chicken achar + veg pilau and peshwari naan (want to share with someone)

SPB - will choose on the night due to woeful lack of veggie dishes on the menu

Still to choose...

Dr Frozen

goldenretriever Mon 26-Nov-12 10:11:55

Fives, Indith, bus in and taxi back sounds good to me. I am sure it will do us all good to let our hair down smile Have had a look at the bus times on www.arrivabus.co.uk (the times changed in October) I would probably get on near Rochfords Garage, almost the last stop out of the village. They only give times from Western Avenue and from The Stags Head from Esh Winning. The best times from The Stags Head (Western Avenue is about 5 minutes earlier) is:

18:22 to get in to Durham at 18:42 or
18:52 to get in to Durham at 19:11

Let me know what you think. Looking forward to it. Though seem to have mild concussion from the week end as I was emptying the tumble dryer in an alcove and realisedg my eldest had climbed on to the work surface, so I shouted at him and thwacked my head from the ridiculously located wall...

Indith Mon 26-Nov-12 10:39:45

18.52 is most likely I think, we'll get on before you as coming from Waterhouses but I'm sure we'll be able to spot each other on the bus!

I really need to start expressing, I've used all my freezer milk. I shall have to give the baby and early feed then leg it and wish dh luck grin.

Should we book a taxi? What time for? Dh says Paddy's is probably going to be the best price (tis who he usually uses when he goes away with work).

FivesAndNorks Mon 26-Nov-12 10:53:10

What time is the table booked for? T has a party 4-6 so ill make sire I'm ready before the party and just chuck t in the house after party.

Also Indith I'm willing to drive to Ew to get ths bus...I do it a lot grin

Indith Mon 26-Nov-12 11:04:21

Do you dump the car there and pick it up int he morning then? There's a thought...dh can go pick it up when he gets the paper Sunday morning. Table is booked for 8.45 now though we are to arrive at the Capital 8.30 and get a drink at teh bar and hand our order over, we may get seated before 8.45.

FivesAndNorks Mon 26-Nov-12 11:12:28

Yep grin

FivesAndNorks Mon 26-Nov-12 11:13:37

Actually I tend to do it when I get the train down to work, so I can just drive it back the next night when the bus drops me off, possibly won't be a good idea on Saturday though!

Indith Mon 26-Nov-12 12:25:18

No, if oyu have to be sober enough to drive it kind of defeats the point of the taxi. However Dh normally walks in to get the paper on Sunday morning so I could drive to the bus.

plain naan for me. Or garlic if golden would prefer.

It is nearly party time!!!!!

goldenretriever Mon 26-Nov-12 13:27:26

Spiffy, plain would be great, but I am one of those dreadful people who will eat pretty much anything, so would do garlic instead, so don't mind.

Fives and Indith, will see you on the 18:52 (ish) bus. Ordering a taxi sounds like a plan, there is normally a good wait otherwise, isn't there? (And potential gits in the queue!) I am a newbie to the nights out, so will go along with what time you two think is best.

Stressing about getting home from work. Its just Durham to Esh Winning, but have heard roads are bad around Esh Winning....

FivesAndNorks Mon 26-Nov-12 13:33:23

I went through Langley pk which was bad in the usual places but passable. Am off to collect t from school soon and then to lanchester that will not ne fun. Where do you work?

Am peering out of my office window and endlessly refreshing the disruptions page on Metro's website- I don't want to have to walk home like last time there were floods. I'm down to one crutch but 6 miles might be pushing it!

DH has been on the phone, the house has sprung a couple of leaks in the roof. Just the bay window and the utility but still <sigh>

The weather had better improve in time for Saturday.

goldenretriever Mon 26-Nov-12 14:11:51

I am at the Lanchester Road Hospital site by Sniperley park and ride. Helpfully have had three seperate people ring up to tell me how bad the roads are... Had text from Esh Winning Primary at around 1pm to basically say 'please pick your children up now!'

Hope you get back ok spiffy!

FivesAndNorks Mon 26-Nov-12 14:18:00

I used to work in Appleton, for a long time, hoping I will again!
I'd go through bearpsrk, personally. Sympathies, it'd awful wondering if you'll get home

Indith Mon 26-Nov-12 14:57:27

Hope you are all OK. Getting dd from nursery was not fun and Ds1 been delivered home from school. The river over hte road has calmed down though. SPB I hope Lanchester was OK, I think most of it was impassable.

Indith Mon 26-Nov-12 15:00:04

Hope our night out doens't get flooded off.

FivesAndNorks Mon 26-Nov-12 16:23:14

langley park was fine. A691 into lanchester was awful and think it's about to be closed- police turned up as I was swimming through it grin
The back roads from Lanchester to EW were better than the main roads hmm.

goldenretriever Mon 26-Nov-12 18:29:13

Thanks fives, Bearpark way was ok, we all pipped off at half 2 thankfully! Am sure everything will be good for Saturday!

Indith Thu 29-Nov-12 11:47:09

Right then I have messaged the others on FB to choose their meals! We are pairing up quite well on the rice/naan front. Leggy is nobody else wants peshwari naan then do you want a whole one yourself or do you want to share a different naan?

Hope the rain stays away!

Indith Thu 29-Nov-12 12:33:19

Taxi booked for 11.30.

KaraStarbuckThrace Thu 29-Nov-12 14:29:37

Spiggy Methi chicken pilau + rice and naan (what kind?)
Golden Lamb Madras + will share with Spiggy

Indith Lamb Badami + rice and garlic naan
Kara Makhoni Tikka (chicken) + will share with Indith

sticky chicken Dupiaza + plain naan and pilau rice (want to share with someone)

Leggy chicken achar + veg pilau and peshwari naan (want to share with someone)

SPB - will choose on the night due to woeful lack of veggie dishes on the menu

Still to choose - Ischel, Britta and DrFrozen

FivesAndNorks Thu 29-Nov-12 15:28:29

Whatever I have I'd share rice + naan with sticky assuming she wants to

FivesAndNorks Thu 29-Nov-12 15:29:34

TBH I'd be happy to order one of the starters as my meal but not sure they'll like that...will see what they say on the night. Boring I may be but I'd rather have a lentil dahl than a biryani

Indith Thu 29-Nov-12 15:59:04

Mmmm lentil dahl <<eyes slow cooker>> must put that on a menu plan soon.

KaraStarbuckThrace Thu 29-Nov-12 16:02:28

goldenretriever Thu 29-Nov-12 16:20:10

Spiggy - is plain naan ok?

11.30 great for taxi back. Indith - had a glance back at the thread and am absurdly pleased to be going on Saturday as, like you, as I found out that I was accepted on to a Midwifery degree this year! Have deferred it until September 2013 for various reasons, before I could be placed into the September 2012 or March 2013 intake. Tis a small world, after all!

FivesAndNorks Thu 29-Nov-12 16:21:51

Congratulations grin

Indith Thu 29-Nov-12 16:27:45

I wonder if we interviewed on the same day?

I'm itching to meet you now, surely we have crossed paths before!

Indith Thu 29-Nov-12 16:28:14

Not that I wasn't looking forward to meeting you before.

FivesAndNorks Thu 29-Nov-12 16:31:45

Hope golden doesn't mind me saying, but we've figured out we used to work together smile

KaraStarbuckThrace Thu 29-Nov-12 16:37:31

Small world!
Speaking of which, found out our vicar went to the same senior school I did!
Indith, BTW Home bargains have some nativity costumes, there is one in my local shopping centre, I could have a look for you tomorrow or Saturday if you like?

goldenretriever Thu 29-Nov-12 16:40:04

I had my interview at N on February the 9th. It was HORRIBLY icy, the car park was like a skating rink and it was a right palaver getting there. I will be mildly freaked out if it was the same interview date somehow!

Indith Thu 29-Nov-12 17:08:22

It was really icy and the roads were dreadful, lots of people were late. I can't remember what date it was though blush. They gave me one in March but I persuaded them to change it as ds2 was due in Feb so I was really very pregnant.

Indith Thu 29-Nov-12 17:17:56

It was Feb 9th! I searched my messages on here!

You know this could be very useful for car sharing and expemsive text book sharing.....

goldenretriever Thu 29-Nov-12 18:43:17

No problem, Fives. Indith, that's weird! Also, that was what I was thinking! I went to college with a lovely girl starting in March + was a member of the fb page for September 2012/March 2013 starters until I deferred, but will bore you about it on Saturday, no doubt!

Indith Thu 29-Nov-12 18:58:10

Oh I've just requested to join a FB group, I hadn't thought of looking for one. I've been getting jittery about the lack of info, I have NOTHING yet and I really need to know where I stand financially so I want to get the childcare grant applied for plus my childminder rather wants my start dates! I got the e-mail with the occupational health forms the other day so hoping the rest isn't far behind.

plain naan fine with me smile

There was a thread on earlier about people feeling lonely and mention was made of a MN FB group for people looking for friends. I've joined and directed anyone from the NE this way.

well not this thread but the normal meet up one

not long til Saturday!!

Indith Thu 29-Nov-12 19:34:27

I can't wait.snot monster screaming baby, tired grumpy big ones. bring on the booze, the curry and the good company. I may even wear clothes with no baby vomit on. shall have to do a wool wash for that to happen though!

goldenretriever Fri 30-Nov-12 09:58:59

Pants! Just realised that I have forgotten the advent calendars. It is like taking ds to his first nursery birthday party in tracksuit bottoms, having forgot it was supposed to be fancy dress, all over again!

Looking forward to tomorrow night. Ordering a taxi was definitely a good move, seeing as it is supposed to be -1000 or something!!!

Indith Fri 30-Nov-12 10:11:40

The advantage of small chidlren is that they are not great at keeping track of teh date!

We actually it was DH sent DS1 to school in his school uniform last week when it was non-uniform day. blush And I always forget fancy dress day at nursery.

Where did I put that worst mother award again?

ishchel Fri 30-Nov-12 14:32:37

starter: Mussels
Main: Lamb Jalfrezi
Side: Bindi Bahji
Pilau rice

Does that look right? I have NEVER eaten in an Indian Restaurant in the UK before.

grin blush

ishchel Fri 30-Nov-12 14:59:24

Who is is wearing woolly knickers tomorrow night?

And thank you whoever you are for reminding me that I have to get chocolate to fill Advent Calendars.

FivesAndNorks Fri 30-Nov-12 15:24:09

I get one chance per year to dress up. I will be wearing what I'd wear mid summer and I will shiver grin in true north eastern fashion
Well ok I might add a big coat and gloves.

I'm getting 2 nights out shock. DH volunteered to undertake child-wrangling duties so I can stay longer at the office Christmas do. Downside of working together is that only one of us can go to office parties at a time. I reckon he is trying to build up goodwill for something football related though...

I shall be wearing a party frock but sadly the heels will have to stay at home as I'm still hobbling. Fives- get enough cocktails inside you and you won't notice the cold grin

1 sleep left!

stickylittlefingers Fri 30-Nov-12 15:54:59

I'm there for the long haul - just checked the calendar and I'd put I was out with you guys til 11.30pm on Sunday! So I hope you're ready for this wink

Very happy to share with you SPB

was worried this morning - DD1 was up in the night being ill. I thought the curse of the MN meet up was upon me AGAIN. But she's perked up considerably, so I think I'm alright <phew>

FivesAndNorks Fri 30-Nov-12 16:02:09

grin sorry but I'm going home on saturday night, you're on your own for the next 24h! Glad you can share. Enjoy your night out spiggy, is that tonight then?

FivesAndNorks Fri 30-Nov-12 16:02:43

Hope your dd continues to improve

night out #2 is next friday. Don't think I could cope with 2 nights in a row. I'm too old for that sort of malarky grin

Hope DD1 gets better and doesn't give it to DD2.

FivesAndNorks Fri 30-Nov-12 16:26:15

Aaargh I need q drink. Currently having a fight on another thread about evil child snatchers (aka social workers). Am actually really riled up.

Indith Fri 30-Nov-12 16:29:28

and where might I find this thread?

FivesAndNorks Fri 30-Nov-12 16:32:06
Indith Fri 30-Nov-12 16:57:28

Oh my word.

goldenretriever Fri 30-Nov-12 18:57:24

I need a lie down after reading that thread!

Indith Sat 01-Dec-12 08:17:22

curry day!

Ds2 has given me his cold. Alcohol kills colds doesn't it?

well they use alcohol handwash in hospitals to kill germs. I'm sure mixing alcohol with fruit juice and taking it internally would be even more effective grin

DS2 was up all sodding night with a cough and is now being very grumpy. I'm going to need a drink by 7pm...

Indith Sat 01-Dec-12 10:15:52

I've already lost it with the dcs. I have elderberry cordial but I'm wishing it were elderberry vodka. I think 10.14am while in sole charge of 3 children is probably not the best time to start drinking though. Only around 7 hours until dh gets back hmm.

Tis sunny. I suppose when ds2 wakes from his nap (in sling of course, can't have a nap in bed and allow mummy any sort of rest) I shall get dressed and take them out to the park and hope that one of their friends is around to call on so they can run riot while I ignore them.

Indith Sat 01-Dec-12 10:16:48

Failing that I will drag them to Esh Winning and back to procure cocoa powder so I can make the most gooey chocolate cake I can.

7 hours shock. No wonder you hate rowing.

I'm still in my pjs and have decided that nursery Christmas fair is more than my sleep deprived nerves will stand. So I just have soft play party to do. and a trip Aldi.

nearly curry time, nearly curry time.

Indith Sat 01-Dec-12 11:37:26

Well we just had a quick trip to the park. You'd have thought I was torturing dd. She has screamed and tantrumed about leaving the house, going to the toilet, putting her boots on, getting a tissue, putting gloves on. Then I dragged her there. Ds ran around a bit. Just as dd was getting into playing a bit she fell over and that was game over. Took her home where she screamed and yelled about my not letting her scratch a parked car with her stick and then continued because she couldn't get her boot off. I have sent the screaming snotty child to her room where I can't hear her. I suppose I should check on her in a bit. She will eother be playing or have fallen asleep. Probably fallen asleep but since I don 't have to do bedtime tonight I don't care. In fact if she sleeps for an hour or so she stands a better chance of not being murdered.

Ds1 wanted to stay in the park but followed us home 5 mins later <<sigh>>

Indith Sat 01-Dec-12 11:39:17

Softplay plus Aldi sounds pretty good. Softplay- ignore big children. Sit and drink coffee while making sure small child is fenced into baby area. Aldi- buy scrummy cured meat and chocolate covered gingerbread which you will just have to keep out of reach of the children and eat yourself because you can't possibly guarantee that it is peanut free.

KaraStarbuckThrace Sat 01-Dec-12 12:01:45

Yey curry!

Don't think Britta is coming as she seems to have forgotten about it.
Shame, would have been nice to have a catch up.

Spiggy Methi chicken pilau rice and plain naan
Golden Lamb Madras + will share with Spiggy

Indith Lamb Badami + pilau rice and garlic naan
Kara Makhoni Tikka (chicken) + will share with Indith

sticky chicken Dupiaza + plain naan and pilau rice (will share with SPB)
SPB - will choose on the night due to woeful lack of veggie dishes on the menu

Leggy chicken achar + veg pilau and peshwari naan (want to share with someone)

SPB - will choose on the night due to woeful lack of veggie dishes on the menu

Ischel - mussels to start, Lamb jalfrezi, rice and bindi bhaji

Looks like everyone wants pilau rice, why don't we just get 5x pilau rice, and split then we just need 4 naans as well - 2 plain, 1 garlic and 1 peshwari and we can just share them. The we just need SPB and DrFrozen to choose when they get to the restaurant.

Still to choose - DrFrozen

Did anyone else want starts, now that Ischel is having one?

Plan is for me to feed DD then while she is still awake, let her wave bye bye to me and hopefully she'll fall asleep on DH and he can then put her to bed.
Might be a possibility I'll make it to Ebony...

juneybean Sat 01-Dec-12 12:35:29

I'm awfully tempted to get a takeaway indian tonight so I can join you but I'm supposed to be dieting <sucks tummy in>

Indith Sat 01-Dec-12 12:36:22

I shall feel very blush if arrive with just 10 of us after they had to rejig to get us from 10 to 12.

Indith Sat 01-Dec-12 12:36:44

Wish you could come juney.

juneybean Sat 01-Dec-12 12:38:01

I wish too but hopefully I'll see you all soon for coffee (and cake sod the diet!)

TMI but I'm on my very first day of using a menstrual cup, it's all very exciting!

KaraStarbuckThrace Sat 01-Dec-12 12:53:47

Yey Britta is coming, I count 11 people including her am I missing someone.
Indith's DVD BEHAVE!!!angry grin shock

KaraStarbuckThrace Sat 01-Dec-12 12:54:22

Fucking autocorrect. DCs not DVD!

Indith Sat 01-Dec-12 12:58:16

I think I meant 8 instead of 10. How did we get to 11? Oh my poor brain.

Indith Sat 01-Dec-12 13:02:40

Phew! There are 11 because you listed SPB twice!

Indith Sat 01-Dec-12 13:08:29

Ok I have written down the order and I have a copy with names on so you don't need to worry about remembering what you've ordered.

I've done as kara suggested and simplified the rice/naan order a little so we'll just get 5 pilau rice, 2 plain naan, 2 garlic and 1 peshwari then the others just need to add their main choice to the order.

KaraStarbuckThrace Sat 01-Dec-12 13:56:01

Well spotted! Not long now. My hair is done. My legs are not being shaved as I am wearing leggings as they are horribly scabbed from bastard midge bites angry

Indith Sat 01-Dec-12 14:09:03

My hair has been washed.........

BrittaPerry Sat 01-Dec-12 14:28:34

Hiya :-)

Sorry, I completely forgot! I am coming :-)

Is anyone going back anywhere near Washington that I could either split a taxi or give petrol money to for a lift back please? If not, it's buses to either Gateshead or Sunderland then a bus back this way as the 50 stops at about 6.30pm...

BrittaPerry Sat 01-Dec-12 14:30:38

I've got two kids shouting down my earholes and loads f Avon to do, where/when are we meeting etc?

Oh, and chicken dupiaza I think :-)

Indith Sat 01-Dec-12 14:49:13

Ebony at 7/7.30 and The Capital on Claypsth at 8.30, table booked under my name.

BrittaPerry Sat 01-Dec-12 14:52:04

Cool, see you there!

BrittaPerry Sat 01-Dec-12 15:00:39

Or if anyone is going to Gateshead or Sunderland that would be good too...

Indith Sat 01-Dec-12 15:02:47

Try messaging Spiggy, she might be an option though I believe she is public transporting it.

BrittaPerry Sat 01-Dec-12 15:05:18

Ooh, or I can change at Birtley.

...wheres Birtley?

BrittaPerry Sat 01-Dec-12 15:06:38

What time are we likely to finish?

Indith Sat 01-Dec-12 15:14:17

I don't have a clue.

SPB, golden and I have a taxi booked for 11.30.

BrittaPerry Sat 01-Dec-12 15:27:38

Hmm, I'm going to lookinto a taxi I think. Buses might be cheaper, but setting off at 23:10 involves a night bus from Gateshead and has me home at 00:45 shock and if I miss that, the next journey is at 00:27 and has me home at 01:19. Which is a bit extreme. I don't usually mind long bus journeys, but I don't fancy getting my ipad out that late at night...

Britta- replied to your pm. I'm getting the 20 to Sunderland but not sure how you'd then get on to washington.

BrittaPerry Sat 01-Dec-12 19:55:10

Got as far as Ebony, but it was just too crowded blush

Have retreated to somewhere else, will attempt again to meet you all at The Capital. Determined to make it, I didn't come all the way to Durham for a half pint by myself!

Indith Sun 02-Dec-12 08:30:32

was good to see you all last night and lovely to meet you golden smile

KaraStarbuckThrace Sun 02-Dec-12 08:31:03

Had a great time, lovely to see you all, and meet you, Golden! Sorry we didn't get much chance to chat, hopefully will do on the 11th --assuming she doesn't think we are all a bunch of vipers--grin
DD woke at 8, had some of DH's burrito shock then went back to sleep! Think slept until about 1am when she fed like I was an all you can eat buffet...

FivesAndNorks Sun 02-Dec-12 09:05:19

yes it was a good night smile Lovely cocktails too, I quite fancy another of those raspberry things, though probably an alcohol free one at the moment!

BrittaPerry Sun 02-Dec-12 10:30:14

Was really good to see you all :-)

Indith Sun 02-Dec-12 10:33:53

Cocktails were yummy. I got back to find ds2 asleep on dh. He hadn't taken any milk but was happy enough to just fall asleep on daddy. He woke shortly after we all went to bed and then fed and fed and fed and actually slept quite deeply and nicely next to me instead of his usual tossing and fretting but I lay awake snuggling him going "I've been drinking need to be careful, shouldn't be bedsharing, don't squash the baby". Then at 6am I went to the loo, came back and he was sprawled over the bed so I shifted him back to his bed and he woke up so I kicked him and dh out but then the big ones woke so I mainly lay in bed trying to sleep while listening to them playing way too noisily and dh's occasional telling them to be quiet. <sigh>

Lovely night and thanks to ischel for the lift. Nice to meet you golden, hope we will see you at some more meet ups.

I'm feeling surprisingly chipper this morning considering the cocktails and wine. I'm even going to attempt some christmas crafty things with the children this afternoon possibly the alcohol is still in my system

Indith Sun 02-Dec-12 11:51:32

goldenretriever Mon 03-Dec-12 19:14:43

Good company and good food - took mind a bit off the upcoming stressy week! Hope to make a future meet up once Christmas shenanigans are out if the way
