Hello, i know this is an old thread, but i'm in Newmarket, there doesn't seem to be any cambridge meet ups which seems odd, i would have thought there would be quite a few. Anyway, if you want to chat "local" i'm here

I'm in Saffron Walden - not far from Cambridge, have a 4 year old daughter. I'm always up for a meet-up!

Hi there, me too! saffycat we both used to post on that long Saffron Walden thread and I've often seen your messages but always too late to catch up with you.
My two children are 4 and 2and a half and I'd be happy to meet up sometime, if you'd like?

I'm just north of Cambridge and work in Newmarket.

oh, but I'm NOT a mummy to anyone except my kids.

I revived this thread as we are moving to Cambridge next month. Is there a meet up and/or how is the local nct branch?

Forgot to ask... How are local breastfeeding cafes? I'm a breastfeeding helper.

Report
mooki · 01/10/2009 22:14

Hello goldenpeach - me again! there is an active NCT - with a big nearly new sale, I know a couple of the committee members though I'm not a member myself any more.

I found breastfeeding to be pretty easy going in the city. There's a fair number of people that do it. Michaelhouse cafe in particular have a sticker on the door.

I went to a drop in help centre at Brookfields hospital in the early days.

Report
goldenpeach · 04/10/2009 17:54

Hi, we must keep in touch. I have made contact with breastfeeding helpers in the areas, but have not contacted the NCT yet. I'm stepping down here and just waiting to relocate.

Hello,
I'm a Cambridge Mum of 1 DD, aged 3. Just wanted to second what mooki said about Michaelhouse Cafe, they are very friendly and have some quieter corners for BF.
Also, the "Big Scream" run by the Arts Picturehouse on a Weds morning is fab, a real lifesaver for a new Mum. If you're not sure what it is, it's when the cinema opens its doors exclusively for parents with under 1s to see a film and you can use the cafe/bar/pancake house after the film.
It's great!

Goldenpeach (and anyone else) do message me once you've moved if you need a local mate
x

I've never looked for anywhere specific to bfeed in Cambridge but have fed all 3 DDs wherever I needed to and had no problems. Was in Waterstone's one day before they had a cafe and asked if I could feed there - assistant went and found an empty windowseat for me and asked me if she could bring me something to read while DD1 fed

When I move... sniff! Just lost the house we 'secured' through letting agent. The landlord found his own tenant and bypassed the agency (and us).

Report
orangehaze · 10/10/2009 16:49

Oh goldenpeach, what a wan*er that landlord is! Keep trying, there are some good landlords out there, I rented for years in Cambridge before getting a house out in one of the villages.

Hello, sorry I forgot to 'watch' the thread. Oh that's so annoying for you goldenpeach.

I would be up for a Cambridge meet up - especially as I have signed up for the mn xmas meet and I haven't met anyone in rl before.

I have a 2 year old dd and don't work on a Friday at the moment. We are sometimes at a loose end on a saturday too as dh works on odd weekends.

Mooki, replied to your email. I'm eager to meet if I ever get there. So far the odd day trip where I visited the wonderful new library.

We are moving next week, but it has not been easy! Any meetup in the area?

Report

I'm in Cambridge now. Any meetups?

Report
mooki · 24/11/2009 19:34

Well done goldenpeach - is it rented in the end? I'm due to go to the mumsnet christmas party on Saturday night but nothing more local that I'm aware of.

Would be happy to meet you and your daughter on Friday morning if that would suit?

membersfeedback at hotmail.co.uk.

Can do this week, but if it's too late when you get this, can do next week.

Going to AGM tomorrow night. But will try for the group on Friday. If you click on my profile there are addresses of blogs and you can see pics there of me and Michela.

Have looked at emails sent by mumsnetters, hopefully I found yours. If you didn't get it, I got the wrong end of the stick.
