Tentative hand up - DD's birthday party is likely to be that weekend so it will depend on when it's arranged for.

Oooh would like to try and make it, but Nottingham is about an hour and 40 from me by car and I'll prob end up coming by train so will depend on the total rail journey time.

National Rail Enquiries site don't want to offer me times for that weekend

WSM where are you coming from? (I am timetable queen in our office!!)

JanHR, which hotels did you phone?

If you're looking for a nice restaurant I like Chino Latino which uses the idea of a chinese restaurant with food in the middle of the table but the variety is larger. We paid about £15 per head for food when DH and I went. Cheapest wine is £15/bottle.

There's also Zizzi's, a Pizza Express, Pierre Victoire, etc. The usual chains. We did Pierre Victoire on day before Xmas Eve for our girlie lunch last Xmas.

Can't help out much more than that as I rarely bother to journey all the way to Nottingham to eat! Will have to get on and arrange DD's birthday party now so I can put this on my calendar. Are you planning lunchtime or evening?

Hotels sending details are, Royal Moat House, The Strathdon Hotel and The Holiday inn. I went for hotels as they usually have party nights. (i.e meal & disco) which are usually pretty good. Also I will not have too far to go as I will stay in the hotel for the night.

I had called the Comflort Inn yeaterday but the girl I need to spak to is not in until Monday so I left my phone number. The manager called me today and is sending me details. He also asked if accommodation was required, so sounds like we may get cheaper rooms if enough of us book up.

Wedgiesmum, I'm in Worcester

Would love to come but will obv depend on me being able to get DH to have DD for the weekend.

Sorry to take so long WSM to get back - fitting virus software on pc took longer than I expected!!

Trains from Worcester to Nottingham take around 2 hours (although if you choose the wrong journey time I found one journey of nearly three hours ). There are some direct trains and some you change at Birmingham, but that would seem to have very little overall effect on journey time. I also found out that the cost of a return is about £20 for a saver-type ticket or £25 for an open return (and only £11.40 for a single - how weird is that??)

See I told you I'm Mrs Timetable.......

Not sure but probably notbeing able to get there to be honest. Nottingham is actually quite a drive away from Sheffield centre and not keen on staying over (never left DD overnight so far).

Hope you all have a lovely time though.

This will be the first time that I have left Lauren overnight.
I trust DP to cope without me though.

Oh, don't get me wrong. I trust DH. Just not feeling ready myself at moment. Maybe it is because of all the change we have had recently anyway what with moving (especially with the on/off upheavals) and then going on holiday. Mollie is so out of routine at the moment I really wouldn't want to at the moment, but equally can't really plan too far ahead either in terms of staying out at night - we go on holiday again in October half term so may have to start all over again then too!

I am sure I will see people at other more local meets though so never mind. Nottingham takes me quite a while to get to anyway.

Which Moat House is it JanJR? The one in the centre (Royal Moat House) or the one on Mansfield Road? Ditto on the Holiday Inn - the one in the centre of town or the one at the Marina? Not that it makes a huge difference unless anyone was looking forward to walking through the city centre on their way back to the train station. And may be a difference with parking charges, with central hotels having pay parking and free in the others. E.g I think overnight parking for guests at the Royal is £6-£10.
