Hi all.

There seems to be quite a few of us mumsnetters in the Worcester/Bromsgrove/Droitwich/Stourport and surrounding areas. I know Sassy is keen for a meet up, as am I.

This is my first tentative toe-dipping into the world of meet-ups so let me know how you are fixed and any suggestions for locations !

Yes PLEASE!

Um, any day during the week best. Locations, no idea

Count me in, just let me know when. Still working at the moment, but only for next 2 weeks.

Excellent ! Well, lets wait for Ailsa to finish work. DH and I are hoping to take the kids on holiday in the next couple of weeks anyway so that'd probably be best for me too.

Where abouts are you Ailsa ?

Great stuff! Any day for me except Tues. How about meeting in one of the nice parks (if weather holds out for 2 weeks - doubtful!) Somewhere like Gheluvelt Park in Worcester?

Next door to Gheluvelt Park! So very handy for me, I can just waddle down the road.

Excellent, my brother-in-law lives in Barbourne Ailsa ! Do you know the old Gallery on The Tything, is now the new kitchen shop but is a new gallery where the old teddy shop used to be on the other side of the road ? That is my brother-in-law's gallery, Christopher Hughes !

ooo haven't been to Gheluvelt Park but it looks nice from driving past - sounds an excellent location.

WSM - I know the one, often stopped to window shop but usually have the kids in tow so haven't gone in.

Is it worth me resurrecting this thread ?

The days I can do are Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays ( I have my StepDS's from 3.30 on a Weds). Having seen that Tuesdays are out for Sassy, it looks like Mon or Weds are our best options. Let me know

Mondays would be the best for me out of that option (can also do Thursdays).

A Tuesday, Wednesday or Friday morning is doable too, but makes me more knackered by the end of the day as we start having activities arranged in the afternoons of these days in September.

Of course, if the meet is in August then any day is up for grabs

August is fine for me. Sept gets easier and I can pretty much do any day so long as I'm back for 3pm, as my older 2 go back to school - the eldest starts high school NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO !

LOL ... but we've already had our meet Not that I'm suggesting there should be a limit of course!

Talking of which - fancy meeting up at the Wacky Warehouse P&T thingumy at 9.30am-11.30 next Wednesday? Just been today and it was good fun, good value for money and completely utterly exhausting (although I did enjoy going down the big slide - ds enjoyed it too ) Plus it's bad weather proof.

(that's open to any worcestershire bod btw... not just wsm!)

Still on for a meet; wsa able to do any day except Tues in August but back at work in sept so then I can only do Tue p.m., Wed, Thurs. Sorry to get complicated! Can't make next wed BTW, am having my hair done!

Okay, how about Monday 25th (i.e. next Monday) - Ghefl ... Ghe... the park with the funny name that I can't spell. WSM - is there somewhere obvious to meet up in there? 10am ish. Do we all get to wear red carnations?

What about a rainy day alternative location - is there a good child friendly cafe in the centre of town we can meet up instead if the heavens open?

Actually, scratch that - just remembered next Monday is bank holiday - Monday after?

I know it's very short notice, but only found out yesterday, there's a family fun day in Gheluvelt park tomorrow (Fri 22nd) 10am - 6pm. Stalls, Falconry, Commandery etc. Free entry, not sure if I'm going, have to be a work by 12 (well the pub really for my farewell lunch - last day). There are also some bands playing on the bandstand in the middle of the lake on Sunday.

That sounds good Ailsa. I'll probably go to that - but I think I'll only be able to make the morning (in-laws arriving in the afternoon). Is it easy to park nearby?

Report
GeorginaA · 21/08/2003 21:26

ARGH ... no ... I can't. I've got no food in the house so I need to go do a shop before the inlaws arrive. Curse my disorganisation!

Wacky Warehouse P&T ? That's news to me! Where's that then, Poachers Pocket ?

Is it ok for my DD ? You've met her so have a vague idea of whether the activities would be suitable

Re Gheluvelt Park meeting places - There is a little playground, brightly coloured and impossible to miss, that could serve as our meeting point. Cafes in town, hmmmmmmmmmm.I agree with the rainy day alternative though as it looks like the weather has turned

Um it's in Perdiswell somewhere ... I can get there myself I'm not sure if I can describe it though!!! And I forget the name of the pub... oh I'm so crap, sorry. There's different sections according to age but of course the entire thing is for toddlers during that time and adults can crawl around with them during these hours only (which is a relief because ds is a bit shy and won't go in without me) - ds would probably go in the bigger kids section but I think your dd would still find lots to interest her. It's only 2 quid 50 and that includes juice for her, biscuits and a hot drink for you so it's not extortionate if it turns out to be a flop. I'll pay attention to the pub name next time I go, or if I see you in the meantime I'll try and work it out on the map.

I don't want to impose on you but I'm due to visit mil in Malvern on the 1st week of September is anyone going to be meeting up then?
If so would you mind if I tagged along with my children? I'll be desperate for some adult company in a child proof environment.

Of course you can! Ask tech for my email and I'll sort out proper directions. I've just remembered that the pub is called something imaginative like The Perdiswell... give me next week and I'll actually pay attention to the route, lol!
