Hi Mumsnet

My name is Chris and I work at the National Railway Museum in York. At the moment we’re in the process of putting together a new exhibition relating to the railways and childhood; particularly looking at the ‘train phase’ that many little ones seem to go through with a view to creating an exciting, child friendly exhibit. But we need your help!

We’re interested in hearing about your favourite train toys past and present. What do you remember being your favourite railway toy? What do your children really love now? It doesn’t just have to be model trains either; books, clothes, furniture, plates, anything that gets them excited and interested about railways.

You can share your little ones (or your!) favourite railway toys or items here:

And our blog gives more of a flavour of what we’re doing:

We’re also interested in collecting any interesting or unusual railway objects relating to childhood, old or new. If you’ve got something unusual you think we might be interested in either fill out the form at the bottom of the first link or contact me directly at: chris.walker@nrm.org.uk

Many thanks!
