Hi,
I?m a student doing a Part Time MA in Social Research. This term every student is tasked in doing a very mini project ? just some interviews / data gathering on a topic. I?ve got egg donation so, as I don?t know anyone who has donated or received eggs, I thought I?d write here to ask if anyone would be willing to share their experiences / thoughts / feelings.
I?m not a journalist, or indeed a market researcher ? so no £20 notes in envelopes - sorry. My findings, if anyone responds, will be shared with my class and no one else. That is 18 students and my tutor ? all sympathetic women. I will ensure that your names (which are all aliases anyway) are further disguised.
As to me - I?m a mum of two girls aged 9 and 6. I?m 42. I was lucky enough to conceive naturally however I have many friends who have undergone fertility treatment ? IVF, IUI, taken Clomid ? not all successfully and so I have seen the pain that this can cause. I also work part time at my local adoption service so I see daily how families are formed in different ways and the joy that this brings often after a lot of heartache.
I confess there is nothing much in this for any of you, though it could be a cathartic experience. It would certainly help me and my fellow students and indeed my tutor to gain a better understanding of this phenomenon.
So please post / message me if you?d be willing to answer a few questions or tell me your story.
And good luck to all of you - donors and recipients alike.
