DOES YOUR FAMILY HAVE 3 GENERATIONS OF MOTHERS AND DO YOU LIVE IN SOUTHERN ENGLAND?

Lambent Productions is looking for families in Southern England, with 3 generations of mothers, for a short film for the Open University documenting how childcare advice changes over time.

What advice or books did you use in the early years of your child's life? Was this different to what your own mother or grandmother did? Could you - and they - share your experiences for an educational film?

If you'd like to have an initial chat, please let me know on here, email megan@lambentproductions.co.uk or call 01273 648380

And if you know someone from such a family, we'd be grateful if you could pass on these details so they can get in touch.

Lambent Productions is an award-winning independent production company specialising in compelling documentaries and educational programming.

This 15 minute film is part of a course in Childhood Studies. We would need a small amount of your time, to interview you & film with your family.

We look forward to hearing from you,
Megan thanks

Any help with this would be much appreciated!
It's for an educational resource for the Open University, hoping undergraduates to understand motherhood and childcare advice better.. so all for a really good cause!
Thanks x

Hi Megan

This sounds reeeeally interesting, I did an OU course recently and their videos were great, would be more than happy to help with something worthy like this if i can. my mum and I used fairly similar styles - breastfed, feed on demand, responding if baby cries, lots of cuddles etc. i've also been trying the wrap thing though whihc she didn't. My mum read Spock I haven't read anything really (except on here!)
my gran on the other hand, was really different and she laughs at me doing the wrap thing. She was taught not to handle baby 'too much' (whatever that is!), put baby down the end of the garden for hours in a pram, and she did some strict feeding routine (I think it was every 4 hours?) with a bottle. don't know if she used a book but can ask.
I live in Worthing, West Sussex, but my mum and gran live in the Midlands, is this ok?

Hi there,

Thank you so much for your reply, it's really interesting to hear about the different styles used in your family. I'm also glad to hear you've benefitted from the OU's fantastic learning resources before, we are working hard to make these new videos to a very high standard!

That's absolutely fine that your family are in different areas, and it would be lovely to talk to you further. If you'd like to message me with your email or phone number, whichever is best for you, it would be great to have a chat. Many thanks!

We are looking to talk to several families, so if anyone else can help, please do let me know!

Many thanks
Megan

Hi Megan, My family has 3 generations of Mothers - me, my Mum & and my Mum's mum. I would be quite interested but haven't asked either my Mum or my Grandma if they would yet! I should maybe check with them first. We all live in the Midlands - is that southern enough?

MeganLambP Thu 21-Feb-13 14:41:46

Hi mrscog,

Thank you so much for your reply! I think the Midlands should be fine. We are quite early on in the production process so it's hard to say completely for certain, but at this stage certainly it would be fantastic to just have an initial chat or email with you, to find out more about your family's experiences, and then we could see what happens from there. Would that be possible?

If you're happy to do that, then please either message me or email me on megan@lambentproductions.co.uk with your method of contact

Thank you so much,
Megan

Thank you so much to the mothers who have got in touch with me so far.
This is such an interesting, broad topic and I've really enjoyed talking with you.
We are still very interested to talk to more mums over the next few weeks - please get in touch.

Big thanks!
Megan
