New book on Baby's First Year - Life After Birth

I'm working on a follow-up book to Nine Months+ for Endeavour Press, which will explore baby's first year. I'd like to talk to mums about getting through this challenging time - tips, anecdotes, stories - the positive and negative and how you've dealt with extreme emotions - anger, frustration, PND, boredom etc. I'd also love to hear from single mums/mums who've adopted, LGBT mums and those who've had twins too.

The book will show a monthly development guide for baby - physical and mental so I'm looking for experiences and tips on breastfeeding, weaning, immunisations, establishing routines, colic, interactive play, sleeping and self-care and healing after the birth - ways of staying sane and finding time for yourself and your partner, sleep deprivation, fitness etc. Many books focus on baby's development but I'm interested in the impact of motherhood on our sense of identity, work, sex life and relationships. Ways of finding the balance and be a happy mum so that you enjoy the first year.

I'd love to hear from first-time mums and also women who've had more than one child with different experiences each time around. Ways to build networks - how can we best support ourselves if we don't have family nearby or are a single parent or experiencing relationship breakdown?

Please get in touch with Nicci@rudemagazine.co.uk or 07758 621106 if you'd like to contribute (anonymously if you wish).

Thank you

Nicci
