Why do the media focus on 26k?
Most claimants do not get anywhere near this amount but many will still lose money and be pushed into poverty by different aspects of welfare reform. As explained here:

Do your research properly and represent these brutal changes properly to the nation. Honestly, I expect more of the BBC than the recent non- coverage of how the many changes will affect the most vulnerable.
