The Stress of Parenting!

Becoming a parent is a wonderful and rewarding experience, however, at times it can be challenging and occasionally stressful. Research has shown that having a supportive network of friends and family can help to protect against the negative effects of stress. I want to investigate further the relationship between parenting stress, social support and mood and I'm looking for mums with a child/baby under the age of 5 years to take part in my survery. (To take part you need to have at least one child under the age of 5). It's for the final year of my Psychology degree and I would really appreciate your help. It takes about 20 minutes to complete and it is anonymous. Thank you for your help smile x If you would like to take part please follow the link below:-

Your second page asks about siblings fighting, faddy foods, pre-school activities etc but there is no N/A option, I cant answer all of them accurately because they don't happen in this house.

Done, although I don't think my answers will help or not. Social support is important, but I think expectations play a huge part- I don't stress about a lot of things because I know they are normal child behaviour. Also a n/a would have been useful for some questions.

Thank you so much StrandedBear & EauRouge for completing my survey. Every response is important and useful because it helps to give me a sample that is more representative of the general population. I really appreciate your help! I agree the questionnaires I've used aren't perfect and I take on board your comments. Thanks again...you've made my day because I wasn't sure if I would get ANY responses smile x

I also would have liked a na for some options. My only other comment is that this week is the most unrepresentative week possible and I thought there might be a question later asking how this week compared to normal. I've been ill, DP has been ill and one of the DC has been ill with an infection that you have to quarantine, not being able to go out has made it a lonelier week than normal!

It has made me realise how lucky I am with the people in my life though. smile

Thank you so much ImpOfThePerverse for completing my survey. Yes the option to say 'never' or 'N/A' would have been helpful because without it I suspect you feel like you are giving inaccurate information. When I write my report I will include this as a limitation of the study but hopefully it won't have too great an impact on the overall data collected. Although you have experienced an unusually difficult week I suspect there will be others who have experienced an unusually good week too so hopefully it all balances out. Thanks again and I hope you all feel better soon! smile x

Thank you to those who have taken part. I still need lots more responses smile x

I started the survey, but gave up, too many of my answers need a n/a option. Sorry.

Thank you for taking an interest anyway NoHunIntended smile x

I'll do it again if you put in a n/a option!
