Diabetes and Depression Research

MEDIA: Jenny Mc Sharry Mon 30-Jan-12 11:10:41

Hi there,
I am a PhD student at the University of Southampton. I have been working with people who have both diabetes and depression for the past few years.

Having both conditions is quite common and some of the people I have spoken to have told me how they struggle to manage diabetes and depression at the same time. All types of diabetes, including gestational diabetes in pregnant women, are increasing worldwide and the number of people trying to manage diabetes with depression is likely to increase.

Based on interviews with people who have both conditions I have designed a questionnaire looking at how people make sense of and manage having both conditions. I'm hoping this questionnaire might be used to help people with diabetes and depression in the future.

I would be really grateful if anyone who has diabetes and depression would like to take part. Further information and the link to the questionnaires online are given below.

Thank you!
Jenny

We are researchers at the University of Southampton. We want to understand what it is like to have diabetes and depression, so we have designed a questionnaire which asks how people make sense of and manage both conditions.

All you need to do to help is complete some questionnaires which will take approximately 30 minutes.

Please go to https://www.isurvey.soton.ac.uk/2776 for further information about the study and to complete the questionnaires online.

If you would like a paper copy of the questionnaires or if you would like more information please contact Jenny Mc Sharry on jem1d08@soton.ac.uk

Thank you!
