I had a great first two weeks. I lost 19lbs. The following week my weight is staying the same or going up a pound.

The only thing vaguely different is my consumption of double cream.

How much cheese, butter and cream am I allowed per day?

Thanks in advance!

Congratulations - that's a fantastic loss!

However, it stands to reason that you can't possibly expect that rate of loss to continue. What you're suffering from is the very familiar week 3 (sometimes 4 and even 5) 'pause'. It's really, really common.

You know it's working, because you've had such spectacular results so far. Your body is now in the process of transitioning itself from carb-burning to fat burning, and it seems to need a week or so to 'catch up'.

Just keep on keeping on (KOKO!) and don't panic. You'll see the weight start to come off again soon - albeit at a slower rate.

Thanks bidi.

So I shouldn't worry about the calories in things like cream and cheese? It is such a different mindset for me!

Counting calories is something you won't have to worry about until you get nearer your target. (Although following a low carb diet isn't a free pass to gorge yourself!)

Dairy is another matter - some people find that it impedes their weight loss. But if you've lost 19lbs in two weeks, it doesn't really sound like it's an issue for you.

Give it another couple of weeks without changing anything and see what happens.

And it would be a good idea to do some reading about low carbing, to help you get your head round it grin I can recommend "Escape the Diet Trap" by Dr John Briffa. Really good and very easy to read.

Biwi sorry for the typo in your name above and for replying.

Many thanks!
