low carb for clear skin?

I've been dabbling in low carb for a while now but have only recently started taking it more seriously.
I've suffered acne since I was about 12 (now 32), ive also have something called reactive hypoglycaemia since childhood but was only diagnosed a few years ago, was also told I was pre - diabetic. I started doing alot of online research into whether my blood sugar problems could be linked to my acne and what I read makes sense, I think with the reactive hypoglycaemia I basically have too much insulin in my blood stream which drives down my blood sugars and I crash, this extra insulin wrecks havoc with my hormones hence the acne. I need to stop this insulin surge in the first place.

I had stopped eating refined sugar a few years ago but I think I need to go further than that and do low carb.

I've been doing it strictly for a few weeks now and seen a definite improvement in my skin and my energy (which is another thing I struggle with) but I have no support in this, am a single mum and on a tight budget.

I'm worried whether I'm eating the right carb/protein/fat ratio, need more ideas and help with managing when out especially with the summer coming, everything is fast processed food and its not always possible to bring something with me, I also avoid gluten as I'm certain I have an intolerance.

I have no weight to lose.

A typical day at the moment is
breakfast-scramled eggs with a bit of butter and bacon
snack mid morning - mini pepperoni and some greek yogurt and walnuts a bit later, maybe a satsuma aswell
lunch - broccoli and cauliflower with tuna mayo and cheese or salad
mid afternoon snack (where I struggle and most likely to have a hypo - greek yogurt with berries and walnuts or 2 gf oatcakes with homous.
dinner is usually meat and vegtables.

I dont know how long this is gonna be sustainable as its very much the same things every day.

When I was diagnosed I saw a dietician twice and it was a complete waste of time, I was told to eat at least 30% complex carbs with every meal and any snacks would have to have carb content also and sent on my way, I wont go to the gp cos even if I tell them low carb will help my health issue and likely clear my skin they won't help me achieve it as they stick to their silly guidelines, which is the opposite to low carb and im convinced that is the wrong thing for me

I'm going through a horrible separation and am desperate to sort my skin above all things at the moment as its making me feel very depressed, if i sort this then everything else will be better as its affects every aspect of my life Sad

For what it is worth, I have been low carb for 2 months now - sticking to it and remaining at about 20g carb per day through veg. In that time, I cannot remember having a spot! I have never had a problem with my skin but usually have the odd spot, especially before my monthly fiesta!

Same here. I've been low carbing for a few weeks now & my skin has never looked better. Not sure if it's the low carb diet or the gallons of water I'm drinking that's making the difference, but either way I'm happy.

If you look in the low carb bootcamp topic there's a recipe thread with lots of ideas, and on the bootcamp thread itself there are great suggestions for different things to eat.
