Hi, I've been loosely following the Terri Ann 123 plan which is basically high protein, low carb and low fat. You do a 10 day boost which is unlimited meat unlimited mushroom, peppers, onion but no other veg or fruit. Stage 2 introduces some veg or bread for a week then stage 3 some fruit alternating between stages 2 and 3 till your at target weight.

I haven't been following the stages religiously but ill give you an example of my daily food

Breakfast - 2 eggs and 50g ham
Snack 50g ham.or chicken
Lunch minimum 250g chicken, Turkey or beef mince cooked with spices, onion, pepper etc
Snack fat free yoghurt
Tea again minimum 250g meat cooked as lunch or tuna / chicken / salad

I do use a protein shake some mornings and keep my egg allowance ( 2a day) to bulk out a meal.

I take some milk in my tea about 4 cups a day, no cheese etc and I'm wondering if my fat intake is too low as the plan does, make allowance for some low fat cheese or cream twice a week (20g)

I started at 14.10 and have lost a stone in 6 weeks but it's so slow compared to some I'm seeing on the plan. I haven't had any refined sugar over the 6 weeks at all just a few strawberries or blueberries once or twice a week. No bread, pasta, potatoes at all. I've had about 4 nights out over the 6 weeks and have drunk either dry red wine or vodka and diet pop each time.

Is this weight loss ok or can I tweak things to speed it up a bit?

I think for low carb to work you need more fat. Maybe full fat plain yogurt and some cheese

I'm not an expert but I though too much protein turns to glucose?

Have you looked at BIWI's low carb. threads on here? I didn't follow to the letter by any means and lost a stone in about 3 months but I was only 10 st to start with. Your loss sounds good Smile

I think you need more veg and salad, lots more natural fat: butter, fatty meat, double cream etc. and you need to be drinking about 3 litres of water a day too, I really struggled with that at first but it gets easier.

No diet drinks either, but 4 times in 6 weeks is not too bad.

Good luck Flowers

High protein is almost like having a lot of sugar. You need very high good fats, medium protein and loads of veg and eat nothing else than that.

I just started a LC diet about a month ago. Lost about 6 pounds in the first 2 weeks, then nothing since, no gain which is good but no more loss. I'm thinking maybe I need to do increase my exercise routine before I see any further weight loss. Pingufan, you don't mention exercise. What's your routine while you're dieting?

Weeks 3 and 4 are notorious for slow weight loss on Low Carb. I'm eating very little atm, exercising but still the scales refuse to budge, I know from measuring my hips and waist that I'm losing inches and that's the important thing - get that tape measure out!

You've lost a stone in 6 weeks? That's pretty good. It's dangerous to get in to the mindset that you aren't doing well enough just because someone else has lost more weight than you on the same diet.

Weeks 3 and 4 are notorious for little/no weight loss (or even a slight gain).

Keep on keeping on and don't change what you're doing. It's obviously working as you lost so well to start with.

Make sure you're eating plenty of fat and drinking lots (and lots) of water. You're basically switching your body from burning carbs to burning fat. Once you have done this you'll start losing again - albeit at a slightly slower rate (which is good).

Exercise doesn't really make that much difference, and in fact the danger is that exercise makes you hungry, so you often eat more. Or treat yourself with food because you've been 'good'!

Are you on the Bootcamp threads? We're in week 3 now, so pretty much at the same stage as you - lots of help, advice and support on the chat thread
