Week 9 - Autumn Low Carb Bootcamp - Our Last Fortnight!(94 Posts)
Morning all. A quick post today because I have to get to work early.

I'm suffering a bit from an IBS flare-up today, which is a surefire indication that I've been overdoing the carbs
So I'm going back to strict Bootcamp for the next few days to hopefully get it back under control.

Hello Bootcampers! <slinks shame-facedly back into thread>. I quit Bootcamp a while back, after limited weightloss - you may remember me whinging about it . I kept on lowish carbing for a while but have been a complete carby twat over half-term.
Anyway... having done a bit more thinking and reading (particularly Robert Lustig's scary book about sugar) and having felt crappy after inhaling beer and cake like it was going out of fashion, I think I am now ready to commit properly to lc. And this time, the scales can stall if they want, because I'm doing this for all-round health rather than weight. I might measure this time though!
I don't know if my name is still on the spreadsheet, but I guess it's not really worth logging my weight now, this close to the end of Bootcamp proper. So I'll just join you on the chat thread for now if that's ok...

I'm another 3lb down, I'm gobsmacked. I'm on a roll
I'm 3.6lb down thanks to Ms Whoosh Fairy. I'm gobsmacked too! I'm now 11 stone 11, I crashed through the 12 stone barrier without looking back. I don't remember my weight starting with an 11, like ever!

Woo hoo - well done bigkidsdidit! I'm starting from scratch today so I may have to wait a bit to see any results, but I'm not going to stress about that this time! Bacon, lettuce and avocado for breakfast for me. Might need a bulletproof coffee now...

Sts this week (well fortnight actually as I didn't weigh last week. I'm thoroughly stuck at 10st 13lbs and it's entirely my own fault as I've lost the will not to stuff myself with almond-based goodies all the time and drink too much wine at weekends. I'm only half a stone from my target weight now and feel Pretty happy in my size 12 trousers again. There's little impetus not to dive into the shallot tart and fruit crumble multiple times a day, and there's been carb creep elsewhere too - not stupidly, but the odd off-road moment like the spaghetti carbonara on Friday and the breadcrumbed parasol mushrooms on Saturday. I'd be happy to eat like this forever more tbh, but if I want to lose that last half stone, I need to be stricter. I just can't decide whether I want it enough to cut the crumble!

Well, after the carbiest wine fuelled half term I am up - could have been a lot worse I however, I am surprised I am not back up to start weight! I'm thinking that because I have been a TCT for the last week (and a half!) maybe I'll get that lovely water weight loss which, although I know its not fat, it doesn't half feel good to see on the scale!
Strict two weeks for me, lets see what can be acheived. I plan to do strength and cardio 5x this week to boost my efforts and shape up some muscles underneath my padding!
Brunch:Bacon, mushrooms fried in butter with rocket, half a tomato and mayo....yum!
Aww - thanks everyone. Good to be back. Having read that scary sugar book, I am really determined to cut sugar in the dc's diet too. The gallons of apple juice are already gone. Breakfast is always the tricky one though... I might be happy eating avocado and plain yoghurt in the morning but they certainly won't. I guess it's wholemeal toast with whole earth peanut butter or marmite then. No more Nutella. I am going to be very unpopular.
Well, am back from a week 'glamping', and despite a few glasses of wine and a couple of toasted marshmallows, I managed to stay on the bandwagon. Just 1lb down this week, but that doesn't surprise me as it was hard to avoid relying on dairy and even trickier to keep up the water intake. Will try harder this week!

I am still feeling groovy having given up the sugar. Am really enjoying life for the first time in ages (I am really really rubbish at being pregnant!).
Had scrambled eggs and smoked salmon for breakfast and chicken salad for lunch.
Holmes, I don't weigh as I was the queen of stalling and I found it really annoying. By not weighing I can focus on being healthy rather than thin. I also think I had unrealistic expectations of what I could weigh, especially after finding out I am actually 5'4" rather than 5'2" that I had always thought I was
Just shy of 6 off this week. Yes - 6!! No - I have no idea why as I didn't do anything different to what I've been doing for the last 4 or 5 weeks when I stayed the same. Needless to say I'm very happy as that takes me to 20 off over all. My personal end of boot camp target of 1 1/2 stone has gone from looking impossible to very achievable
Ah - maybe that's the way forward then Humphrey, ditching the scales. I'm particularly keen to cut the sugar too. Something I read recently made me think I may have a candida problem, and apparently sugar, wheat and fermented stuff have to go.
Woohooo... managed to get 2 more pounds off. But weghed myself at 1am and had not lost it. What happened in the next seven hours, then? Maybe it is like the Adipose in Doctor Who, and a small adipose creature wiggled out of the bottom of my pj's in the night and off to the mothership?
Welcome back holmes - you are more than welcome to chat! I found, just like you, that it was much, much easier to commit to this WOE once I'd done more reading about it, and realised there was much more to it than weight loss.
Well done to all you losers - some impressive results!
I'm worried that I'm going down with something horrible at the moment . IBS cramping has gone, thankfully, but I have a very unpleasant headache which isn't really responding to drugs.
And this week I have a really heavy week at work and I just can't be ill - and have to be able to 'perform', so it's a bit alarming. I think I'm going to slope off as early as I can and have an early night tonight.
One pound down
well really half a pound but I always round to the nearest pound after a couple of weeks of STS but I can still feel my belt loosening so there's progress going on that I can't see on the scales. I thought I wasn't doing too well but looking back I've lost six pounds this Bootcamp which is brilliant.

Hello fellow 11:11er bigkids. Astonishingly, just 4 more lbs off will see me (just) into a normal BMI at 11 stone 7. This is my before-Christmas target! (I started on an obese BMI.) I can't imagine being a weight starting with 10 stone, but I'll carry on in a spirit of enquiry and find out!
Crabby surely eating spaghetti carbonara and staying the same is a victory! That would be a great picture of the future, able to eat the odd carby meal without it having an impact.
I started this (in May) thinking "its only for 10 weeks". Then certain realisations dawned and I thought "OK - I'm doing this til Christmas (to get to a normal BMI)".
Now I'm thinking - Ooh maybe this is kind of forever. I can't see myself tucking into carbs come January (really hope I'm not wrong!). I want to stay in the lovely new clothes I've bought, with the confidence of not being overweight. It is still slightly a weird thought though; I'm glad I started with a "this is a temporary 10 week thing" mindset!

Biwi - hope you feel better, DD and I had a wierd viral thing last week ;loads of stomach cramps and headaches. Could be going around. Hot water bottle really helped, although not practical at work !
BIWI - have you tried those disposable heat packs you can get? Come in bright orange boxes (normally) from the medicine section of the supermarket. You just take them out of the packet, peel off the back and then stick it on you where evers aching. Particularly good at that wrong time of the month, I've found...

a quarter of a pound on... ah well.
BIWI i feel your pain. have had a stomach virus for 3 weeks now and i am sick of it. keeping to the dry stuff today after a day of near nothingness yesterday. this inevitably has meant carbs today in the form of a bag of crisps, tinned soup and oat bar. meals over the last few weeks have been a bit ad hoc but carb free.
however on sat, i just had enoughi went a bit bonkers on bread. i don't know why and then yesterday my stomach just went on strike, so i am doubly cursed by this virus and my own greed.
hoping to get back on the horse tomorrow.
