Try walnut oil on your salad, it is divine. Also don't forget you are allowed full fat mayo on your salad

Thanks everyone - it is hard to quit!

I had no coke on Thursday, and only one while I was out yesterday (even if it increases my appetite it is surely better than wine or gin!). I have to grudgingly say I was less hungry on Thursday - how annoying, it really can't be justified. Thank you for kicking my up the bum, though!

I am pretty sure I am eating enough fat - I've been cooking things with butter, having olive oil on salads, and having homemade lamb meatballs, low carb sausages, chicken (although breast not thigh, I'm planning to get thigh next big shop), avocado and roasting vegetables. For snacks have generally been having a wee bit of cheese. (Can't quite believe I'm eating like this and losing weight!)

Are you eating enough fat? I think people who don't get hungry.

But yes, as far as I know there are all kinds of studies out there which have suggested that artificial sweeteners increase your appetite. It's the stuff of the devil, ditch it! Herbal teas are your friend.

Im.a diet coke addict. I can't just cut it out so have cut right down. I will keep cutting down until I am just drinking water but if I go cold turkey I get really bad headaches. And yes I know its caffeine withdrawal but I need to do it bit by bit.

Diet coke does make you hungry because your body's expecting something good when you drink it and it doesn't come grin you're probably better off with full fat coke.

Not helpful, I'm a massive addict.. trying to quit is worse than trying to quit smoking.

I need to print that and put it on my fridge, shockers.

Diet coke is the work of the devil.

Oh dear, this is not looking good for me trying to justify my desire for coke! I'm beginning to cave into giving it up. Sob.

Diet coke makes me ravenous. Only time I ever feel hungry. I drink tea instead

Ooh, that's a good tip. I love sparkling water, it's so refreshing, but never think to buy it for home. Thanks!

As a previous diet coke fiend I find now that replacing it with gallons of sparkling mineral water does wonders. Been lowcarbing on off since July and when I have on occasion had a diet coke nowadays it just tastes weird.

Thank you for the reply! That's really interesting to hear, and definitely stands to reason. I think I'm just being a bit petulant and thinking "but I waaant it..!"

I will try and cut it out for the next week and see what happens.

Thanks again!

My husband low carbs (as better for his type 1 diabetes) and is always hungry. I have been low carbing a couple of weeks and not really hungry at all. He eats/drinks artificial sweeteners, and I don't. Anecdotal I know, but I suspect the sweeteners contribute to the cravings for carbohydrate.

Hi! I have been lowcarbing for 7 days now, essentially following Bootcamp (as an aside, thank you so much BiWi and everyone offering help, you have provided such brilliant resources and help!)

I have lost 8 1/2 pounds! Even though I know this is largely water weight, I still can't believe it and am pleased I am obviously doing something right. However, I have read that after a while your appetite is supposed to disappear, and I'm slightly worried mine doesn't seem to have yet. I am far from ravenous, to be honest I think I have normal levels of hunger, but I am just quite curious whether everyone has a decreased appetite and it may be an indication I am doing something wrong.

I have to admit, thought, that I am doing something wrong... I am a bit of a Diet Coke addict. I intended to cut it out completely, but I think maybe just found it too comforting and easy to fall back on when I was making other dietry changes. Plus it tastes pretty amazing, despite it being artificial and, I will admit, a bit gross and unnatural.

Do you think this could be why I am still hungry? I have read about it possibly provoking an insulin response, so was worried that it might hinder my weight loss, but it obviously hasn't in the first week. Could hunger be an indication this is happening? Has anyone successfully LC'd while retaining a coke (the drink!) habit?

I would really appreciate any advice!
