Low-carb diets

Low carbing - but not forever. Waste of time?

I'd like to lose a stone or so. I know from experience that low carbing will work, and quite quickly esp if combined with upping my exercise (though as a sugar addict, I'm dreading the headache that will come on day 3...)

However, I can't see a future where I minimise cake, bread, pasta etc for life. Every time I've done half hearted low carbing it's all gone back on again once I stop.

An I right in thinking that this one is for life (thus prob not for me Wink)?

You will lose weight if you low carb but yes you'll put it all back on again if you go back to sugar etc

But that's true of any diet!

If you cut out sugar and carbs, lose the weight, then eat carbs IN MODERATION (eg twice a week, small portions) then you'll probably keep it off.

If you're doing 'proper' low carbing you can eat butter, cream, cheese, meat, fish, spinach, green beans, kale, green leafy veg, salads, olive oil, spices, herbs, eggs, butternut squash, garlic.

But no sugar, potatoes, bread, pasta.

Oh but eating the stuff in my list WITH carbs is a recipe for weight gain! So it's hard to do half heartedly. And it won't work!

But why on earth would you want to eat cake, bread and pasta? They are all bad for you, and I personally hate the taste. Thanks but I'll stick with steaks, cheese etc! Low carber for life and sooooo happy about it, never felt or looked better.

Lol at poster above, why would you want to eat cake!? Why wouldn't you? Although I agree about pasta. Wink

OP, why not have a look at marksdailyapple.com? Low carb paleo stuff, but only 80% of the time, so room for birthday cake and pasta (And wine.) Just not every day...

I am interested in this too.
As in I could do low carb to lose the weight.
And then would be happy to follow a low calorie plan to maintain .

But would you regain just by merit of going back on carbs even if your calorie count was low?
