Help, feel sick and I don't know what to eat

Hi, I'm trying low carb after being inspired by reading the bootcamp thread but I don't feel good.

i had fried egg and mushrooms for breakfast.

Ham, cheese avocado and cucumber for lunch

Bolognese mince with broccoli and broad beans then Strawberries and raspberries with cream for tea.

chicken drumsticks with garlic for snack (2)

have I eaten too much? I still feel hungry! But sick and weird :(

Should I keep going or is it not a good idea if it's making me feel funny?

Think I'm addicted to sugar and bread. I'll keep going tonight and see how I feel in the morning.

You often feel ill at first although Day 1 is quite quick. It is common to feel unwell around day 3 or so and is known as carb flu but, if you are really addicted it could be a kind of detox reaction. Are you drinking enough water? It is really important to drink loads of water to flush everything through.

Do keep going. I have been doing this since late Sept and it is worth persisting.

It could just be a sudden switch from one way of eating to another.

As timid says, make sure you're drinking plenty of water.

(And you might want to drop the broad beans as well as the fruit - they are a bit carby)

Carb flu lasts for only a couple of days. Best way to get through it is to eat plenty of fat, drink plenty of water and make sure that you keep your salt levels up - try making a hot drink out of Oxo or Marmite or Bovril.

And good luck! Come and join us on the Bootcamp threads.

Hope you're feeling better soon.

Thanks guys, I've had mint tea and feeling better. Bovril/marmite drink sounds lush but I don't have any in the cupboard. Will get some tomorrow.

I think I'm borderline insulin resistant because I get starving hungry in the middle of the night and crave bread and sugar.
I'm going to keep on with it, I don't want to be a 'pea on legs' any more Grin

So I'm on day 4 now and it's going well!

Things I've noticed, my bra is not cutting red lines into me by the end of each day anymore... GOOD! Smile

I'm constantly thirsty/going to the loo.

Got odd taste in my mouth.

Trousers feel looser...

I've started eating butter in small slices Smile

Putting coconut oil in my tea.

Still craving choc brownies and ginger cake Confused

Woo hoo! You are in ketosis - which means you are now officially a fat-burning person!

Keep your fat levels up, drink plenty of water, and make sure you're eating plenty of salt.
