Week 5 - summer low carb bootcamp

(378 Posts)

Right chaps, while BIWI is drinking prosecco in sunny Italy away being busy and important, I'm your supply teacher for the next couple of days. BIWI has given me temporary responsibility for the Big Stick, so no messing about at the back there!

Well done on getting to week five, it's not easy and despite the fab support on here you've done this yourself, so remember how far you've come.

Please record your weight on the spreadsheet and marvel at your progress!

Temptations will come along, especially over bank holidays and half term treats, but remember that you're doing this for yourself, so be kind to yourself by not giving in to the temptation from things that do you harm and risk derailing you, as every time you look after yourself in this way it get easier. If you have a wobble, post on here - we'll remind you of all the tasty things you can have instead and why.

Have a lovely week!

My poverty is over & I have been out & stocked up on oads of LC food, so ready to get back into it 100%!

sybilfaulty Sun 26-May-13 19:12:58

Thanks Willie. I am away on hols right now so can't weigh but am sticking to the straight and narrow on food, although I am enjoying a gin or two in the evening. I had the best lunch of salmon, prawns, crab , tuna and mackerel with salad. Gave bread to the kids and felt both full and virtuous. Even if I maintain this week, I just love the food.

Thanks wilie for being our leader whilst BIWI does wine and antipasti and enjoy the half term y'all.

Hi! I'm on my way back from a weekend of naughtiness with a bucket o' water and some almonds and back on the wagon. I'll weigh on Tue this week as I can't get to the gym tomorrow. grr. 3 days with no gym is making me antsy!

maidofmuss Sun 26-May-13 19:38:33

Thanks willie - have put in this morning's weight (same as last week) as away from this eve and won't be logging in for few days. Eating up leftovers so truly odd day's worth of food today
B two scrambled eggs, least wilted stick of celery in sad bunch lurking back of fridge, large raw mushroom
L roast beef slices with horseradish wrapped round asparagus (my taste buds must have changed as my usual quantity of horseradish nearly blew my head off)
D cauliflower cheese, smoked mackerel fillets, remaining home-made coleslaw (NOT a good combination, trust me).
I shall try not to puke in the car...

Week 5!

That big stick will come in well handy tomorrow morning Willie when someone invariably messes up the spreadsheet while inputting their weight

B- Small cup lidl yoghurt, Lidl low-carb sausages with avacado and mayo
L - Chicken and avacado on leaves with olive oil and mayo & a pine nut/blue cheese garnish
D- Asparagus, chestnut mushrooms and shallot omlette with small sprinkle grated cheese
S - 2 decaff black espressos

Trying to use cheese as a garnish instead of an ingredient.

Hi everybody, I am so curious about my weight tomorrow. I didn't fail in this week (it's week 1 for me) ... but the amount of food worries me.

Lots of snacks (boredom mainly, I am home with kids who have cold), approved food, but! half of Philly cheese, about 150 ml double cream, leftover chicken inbetween meals blush
Why I do this?

newlark Sun 26-May-13 20:06:41

Mrs Coyote - your body is adjusting - I found I was eating lots of snacks the first week - partly from hunger partly from habit but then realised in week 2 that I was actually feeling less hungry and was quite often able to go from one meal to the next without a snack. I have a cup of herbal tea sometimes as a snack avoidance tactic.

Marking place!

ZimboMum Sun 26-May-13 21:24:12

Marking place.

timidviper Sun 26-May-13 22:27:46

Willie I think I have been archived as I have vanished from the spreadsheet while I've been away on holiday. Could you put me back please? I have one weight to add from before I went away but will have 2 blank weeks as I can't face the scales just yet blush

HeirToTheIronThrone Sun 26-May-13 23:11:27

Hmm, probably too much gin tonight.....

TreeLuLa Mon 27-May-13 06:26:05

OK, 2 lbs down on last week despite falling face first into a bottle of white wine last night.

Reminded me though why I enjoy not drinking - not a good night's sleep and this morning I feel a bit bleugh.

Lovely shiny new spreadsheet!
grin

Away from the scales, so have put myself as STS - but I feel smaller!

AngieAir Mon 27-May-13 07:36:04

STS for me. Wil need to be very strict over the next fortnight as have a lot of social events involving eating out or being cooked for.

Even picking the salads, meat and sauce etc I suspect extra sugar gets sneaked in somewhere.

My courgette lasagne was delicious smile

EwanHoozami Mon 27-May-13 07:58:35

Mooooooorning campers.

Thanks for the new thread Willie, excellent advice to post if you're having a wobble. We will talk you down!

If you've been following the rules strictly enough you should be feeling cracking this week. There are so many benefits to this WOE that start to become evident around this far in.

My energy levels are really stable throughout the day and I'm sleeping loads better.

My skin is clearer and my nails are growing without breaking.

I've made friends with my local butcher grin

Morning all. Down to 14 8 which is a loss of 3lbs this week. A bit disappointed as last weeks weigh in was high due to a night on wine and then having some carbs that night on the Saturday. That came off really quickly but I reckon only a pound extra. And I have been so good since. Not a drop of alcohol has passed my lips. I was 14 8 on Friday so have lost nothing over the weekend. Really wanted to get to 14 7.

All in all I have lost 6lbs since I started on 24 April. I think I would have lost more if I had stuck to weight watchers and cut out the alcohol.

Feeling very demoralised! I will keep going this week and see what next Monday brings. I don't think I have been drinking enough water so will rectify that.

Doshusallie Mon 27-May-13 08:22:35

You may or may not have lost more on ww buda - but you have to weigh, count points, eat plastic low fat food and generally feel deprived. You will lose more weight on this woe and thoroughly enjoy the process.

We had a big family tea last night - my sister is on ww and had no cauliflower because it had cheese on it, no skin on her chicken, and no wine. I had a huge pile of chicken with skin, big lump of cauliflower cheese, red wine and cheese for afters. (I am in maintenance). She has to save all her points up for a glass of wine when she got home and had to count everything she was eating. She also ran 8km in the morning and is running another 9 today. I am all for exercise but my point is that I can maintain whilst exercising once or twice a week these days rather than being the obsessive gym bunny I had to be to maintain on a low fat woe.

sybilfaulty Mon 27-May-13 08:27:29

Morning all

Could a kind person record me as STS this week please? I am on hols so can't weigh.

Buda, sorry you are disappointed. This is an odd diet as the weightloss is not linear and does noit always accord with what you have eaten. Do you feel slimmer? Are your clothes any looser? Keep on keeping on as it will work. It just takes a while sometimes for it to show on the scales. Can you have a treat like LC breakfast to cheer you and remind you how yum this WOE is?

QueenofDreams Mon 27-May-13 09:01:52

Hey can I be added back onto the spreadsheet please?

Carbs went out the window yesterday. Throat is on fire, and had loads of throat sweets.

cathyandclaire Mon 27-May-13 09:03:44

Hi all, well done losers! RL has been keeping me off the computer but just weighed in and wooooo....back to target grin so I'm maintaining with you Dosh

Buda don't get disheartened, 3lb off is fab, sloosh down a load of water today and you'll probably have a big woosh of weight off.

Enjoy the sun everyone smile

B: Bacon and leek frittata
L: Burger on BBQ with coleslaw
S:Chicken caesar salad ( no croutons)

Thanks for encouragement guys. I DO feel a lot slimmer and have lots of energy. Just desperately wanted to see 14 7 on the scales!

Have just had two cold sausages and some Greek yoghurt for breakfast.

And queenofDreams you have just reminded me of something. I have a horrible cold and have taken Benylin a few times as cough is so bad. The sugary one. So that could well have made a difference.

Will carry on. Haven't got a weekend gain to shift this week so next week should show a decent loss.

And I am wearing new size 18 trousers.

Off to clear my bedroom out so decorator can get started.

MrsCoyote Mon 27-May-13 09:46:58

Newlark - thank you for the encouragement. I hope I will be able to stop snacking as you did.

I am very happy - despite of lots of food, snacks (LC thought), fats, cream, mayo...
I am 5 pounds down smilesmilesmile

couch25cakes Mon 27-May-13 09:52:22

My first week resulted in a 5lb loss, which I am really pleased with.

sammisatt Mon 27-May-13 10:19:56

Been totally naughty this weekend but it was my fortieth birthday. Posh Chocolate on Friday, all day drinking on Saturday ( my b'day) and no food, then yesterday was shocking. Went for a six course meal at the waterside inn in Bray and then because I was so shockingly hungover, had a bag of chips and a slice of chocolate birthday cake for tea. Back to reality today. I'm starving, chewing at the bit for carbs but am back on track.
