Florida -Hawthorn suites at universal

So, we spent hours faffing about choosing between the Hawthorn and Enclave, finally booked Hawthorn via Expedia then within half an hour of booking, I discovered a huge hoo-har on tripadvisor about the Hawthorn having been bought by Virgin, being renovated/ refurbished...
Sounds like a nightmare and I'm wondering whether to try calling expedia to change (that will cost me!)

Does anyone on here know what's going on?
