What are your experiences with sole parental responsibility ?

I mean the legal bit, not just taking care of the chidlren by yourself.

I am looking at getting 100% parental resp. However, this means that if the children don't do their homework, I will be responsible. If they miss school, ditto.

This makes visits to ex h a bit problematic, because in the past he has kept them off school, and not made sure that they do their homework.
Up til now, parental resp was legally shared between us, which meant that he automatically took blame.

If I stay with shared parental resp, ex h can and will use the chidlren as pawns to get at me. He has done this sort of thing in the past, and I have no reason to suppose that he has changed his ways.

Has anyone else been in a similar situation, and what are the disadvantages of having sole parental responsibility?

I am in europe, where parental resp must be decided after a divorce in the court.

Both parents with parental resp must sign documents for the chidlren, eg permission to have operations, or to join a new school.

believe me, there has been extreme abuse, and plenty of evidence that ex h would NOT sign these sort of papers. Actually, I have a good chance of getting 100% resp.

The "blame" to which you refer is not from me, it is from the police, the school authorities and social services, who will get involved if my children don't turn up to school because their father has disappeared with them.
I am merely concerned with escaping from ex h.
