Someone told me it's going up. Other people have told me it's not - does anyone know?

basically you can keep first £20 of CM from end of 2008.

in 2010; first £40.

this is ignored with claims for HB & CTB.

i imagine it will make alot of difference for people, and rightly so.

Mine isn't £40 either, but it will make a huge difference being allowed to keep what does get paid.

ye it will make a hug difference it annoys me the way they work out what maintanence is and what ex keeps for when he has him. He ends up with more for 2 days than i get for the rest of the fortnight. I dont think thats right.

No no no, it's not because you're a man, it's because it "The System". If the absent parent isn't part of The System, s/he does not, in fact, exist.

So I have been assured by the cretinous little jobsworths kind people at the CSA Dudley on many occasions since June 2007.

does this still apply even if it's a volentry agreement?

apparently I get £43 p/w in maint from XH so I get the rest in IS - does this mean i'll be able to keep all the main and my IS will increase to 59 as well? if it does that would be fantastic - not moaning about it but on the other hand why can't they do it sooner?

I think they are tying in the dates with the changes in IS in 2010 - the changes in IS will free up some money which they can use to offset against the change in CSA "kept" amount when on IS.

From 2010 once the youngest child reaches age 7, IS will cease and will be switched to JSA and claimants will be expected to actively look for work.

i have nearly fainted, how did I miss this!!!

So if I am on inc support, I can KEEP £20, and I can work and KEEP £20???

throw me a peanut and I'll be there government!

I think you're confused PirateCat, or at least you confused me, You get to keep up to £20 if you are on IS (assuming the payment is more than £20).

If you work at least 16 hours you get to keep the lot, however much it is.

My question would be is the housing and council tax benefits going to reduce given that your income would be increasing by £10 a week, and therefore you won't actually be any better off...?

I also wonder what the rules are relating to keeping any maintenace money if you are on JSA rather than IS. Anyone know the answers?

I was talking about csa money firsty, that I will be able to keep £20 of ex dh's money, instead of £10, and then just mentioned that I could also keep all my inc support, and earn £20a week without anything beiong challenged/taken off me with the housing and c tax.

If you work under 16 hrs, you're not allowed to that income AND yuor inc support are you??

And if you are, how much do yu get penalised (after the £20) on the rest of your earnings when it comes to hb and ctax credits.

ta?

You can earn up to £20 per week without it impacting on your IS.

Anything you earn over £20 will be deducted from your Income Support providing you work less than 16 hrs. As long as you have some Income Support left, your HB, CTC and CT benefits will remain in place, with no deductions. And you can keep the maintenance.

colditz - couldnt help replying again. the thing is she has always been in the system. not long after she went i came off benefit and returned to work - tho only for a couple of weeks. soon after going back on benefit (she didnt like my nanny ) i got a giro for £3. the only vague explanation was that it was some sort of maintenance payment.

and thats all ive ever received in over 10 years.

she works, her partner works, they have 2 cars - one new, one 5 years old, a couple of motorbikes, hols abroad etc.

i work full time, and still am told i get £0 maintenance. would appear theres a bit of fiddling going on somewhere but i'm hardly the one cause bother. have never relied on her for anything so expect the system works well for her and anyone else who doesnt want to pay. ramble over.
