Going back to work...

I am looking for some quick general advice...

I am desperate to get back into work after an 8 year gap, reason for this is I had my first child 8 years ago and my kids are both now in full time school.

So, should I mention in my CV that I'm a mother? I can see the pro's and cons...it shows what I've been doing for the past 8 years but it could also show that I have other commitments and might need more time off that a person with no kids.

What should I do?

it was in the news today that women with children under the age of 11 are the most disadvanted when applying for jobs! mums are discrimated against more than other vulnerable groups such as disabled and certain ethnic minority groups. so im not so sure you shuld advertise it!

i have just finished helping go through cv's for my replacement and we sidelined any with big gaos but no explanation. i think you'd be better off mentioning it as like it or not it will effect your working life and you need an employer who's on your side, not thinks you kept things hidden from them. perhaps make a point of stating they are now at full-time school and you have good childcare arrangements?
