Christmas on your own

Hi,

Anyone else spending christmas day on their own this year? with the kids I mean...

This year it will be just me and my two boys, it will be the first christmas that I have spent on my own and I'm looking foward to it in one way but in another way Im worried that I will start to feel 'lonely' by christmas evening...the last thing I want is to be depressed on christmas night, especially when there will be drink in the house.

But...I think I will be ok!

So, anyone else done it? or anyone else doing it this year?

Hi Thaigal. I am sure there are lots of families like yours at this time of year...i am sure there will be a Christmas Bar here on MN....
lulumama normally runs it each night, from about 7pm.....in chat. >

Catch up with her one night...just pop to the thread and join in the (not real drinking) evening.... im sure you'll get a group of like minded mnetters all willing to meet up wiht you on Christmas Eve.here...good luck

How old are the boys are they old enough to enjoy a pantomine on Christmas Eve? Do you have any friends that could pop in to see for a hour on Christmas day? Just to get out for a little while - a walk is always nice? Not everyone is out and about as a couple....

just make sure you get a big walk out on christmas day. preferably a really long one with the kids running around and having a great laugh.
Come the evening, you'll be too exhausted and happy to worry about being just you and the kids.

Hi Thaigal
the bars here just have a kurk and a look if thats all you want to do. I'll say hi if you pop in later.... im in and out as things in RL to do to!!!
You dont have to be a member...friendly lot. Nothing too serious ever goes on. Bit of friendly chat and large drinks all round. You can even get crisps.

You sound like you need cheering up abit.

thaigirl, im on my own with both my ds's xmas day. by the evening i can be craving "adult" talk but i force myself to go for a walk in the afternoon and make a point of saying hello to everyone i meet....and try and engage them in conversation, they probably think im a raving looney!

Hi, i will be spending xmas eve, xmas day and boxing day alone with 2 energetic boys completely alone too. Boys wake at 5, and then are bouncing around till 11 on Xmass eve, and on boxing day up at 7 again!!!

Seeing the kids so excited is lovely, but it is exhausting! kids are happy and that is main thing. i don't think about other families at all, just concentrate on kids.
And i remember it is only a few days!

I will be alone too. My DD's are here all the time but DS's will be with their Dad from 3pm christmas day. Back over 5pm boxing day.
My Mum,Dad and Brother moved to Turkey just over a year ago so i have no-one else around really.

No plans for christmas day yet. Will just enjoy the DC having fun and probably have a very lonely evening.

I thought i wasn't going to get much time with them! But I had a chat with xp1 and he agreed to extend christmas day until 3pm.Otherwise we had to goto court to sort it. Luckily we avoided that and agreed a time.

I bet TV will be crap as usual. I will have to let DD's stay up until they drop!

MN is great but its not the same as having someone round to chat to and have a laugh with.

Nutty Ive never done much NYE so im not worried about that day.To me the whole NYE party thing is over rated.

I think it's cos I am so desperate to get out full stop, and the fact that I know lots of people who are going out thats bugging me tbh.

Ahh well, maybe next year.

i didnt go out for 10 years once

i was supposed to be in thailand, not necessarily because of ny but because my 40th is a couple of days later and i wanted to be away

however because exh wont now come back to have hte kids as he agreed, my new young man is taking me away instead to cheer me up

Me! I'll be all alone too. Family thousands of miles away & friends are all away, so will be just me & DS. I think I'll cook a little christmas lunch or something to make the day a bit different. I think we'll have a good day though but I know I'll be craving some adult conversation by the evening. Christmas with a babbling 15 month old will be lovely (if a little lonely) but it's nice to have a conversation you actually understand.
