Ok, so I don't normally write on these discussions but today has been a day from hell. I am a single, working parent with a 9 mo, living in a council bedsit. I reported damp and mould back at the start of the year. Long story short but they have not turned up to numerous appointments to deal with this. Now I've been ill with a chest infection as I'm asthmatic and my son has started suffering with skin problems. Today a contractor was suppose to attend at 8am but even as of yet, no one has turned up. Obviously I'm angry and ranted on the phone and told them that dealing with them was enough to make me suicidal!! They took this literally and sent my estate manager to check on my 'well being'. And inform me that they have to forward on their concerns to Social Services. I now don't know what I'm suppose to do xxx

Hi, sorry you have had a rubbish day. I would actually use social services contacting you to your advantage- tell them exactly as it is, that you are unhappy with your housing and push it back to them to speak to housing to get it sorted.

Hi key, sorry to hear things are so dufficult. I second using social services to your as advantage. I think you can have an honest conversation with them about your circumstances and see if they're in a position to help. Please dint beat yourself up about getting wound up with services. Your circumstances would drive anyone mad. I hope you get something sorted soon.

Thanks everyone!! My son is my main concern, I work 5 days a week trying to do everything right and feel like I'm getting nowhere. I just wish I was treated like a human being instead of something they stepped in. I did tell them to call Social Services as I have nothing to hide and it will only highlight their mistakes, not mine. I've also contacted my local paper and will be booking an appointment with CAB on monday morning. It's all so draining.

Go to your local councillor too! they should be able to put the pressure on as required.
