Sickly Christmas ads

Just a moan really...

Why do all the Christmas ads feature a happy family of mum, dad. & kids?!!.. They should show a more diverse selection of family set ups really!! ... Making me a bit sad & I love Christmas! Hmm

Lets be honest all the Christmas ads show a very unrealistic Christmas - everyone happy and not a cross word had. We all know the reality is far from that!

I noticed the other day the aunt Bessie's add. There is no dad.Working mum two kids and a decent meal.I think it's agreat advert for single working mums.
IMHO Christmas for mums and wives are an unrealistic nightmare,I may be in the minority but, Ilove being a single mum at Christmas.

I hate this years sainsburys advert. My 2dc totally missed the point that the children were leaving a message for their dad as he was in the forces. All they saw were children saying how much they missed dad and wished he was there. When he walked through the door dd said shall we do that for daddy this year and he might.come home Sad 8 months today since he moved out dc still hope he may come back.

Yes the sainsbury's one is bad & the Tesco one about a family through the ages... Them as a young couple, Then parents & grandparents!!.. I feel sad that I've lost that kind of future .. I know one day I might be part of a blended family step children, step grandchildren etc... But right now it's lonely old me & my 2 dc's.... Cried putting my tree up yesterday because it's such a lonely time of year!! Sad

This is not the life we though wed have eh? we all want that chocolate box happy fifties style 'honey Im home' thing and unforch reality dictates otherwise.

Ill be Sad. misery loves company.

Im so sorry youre feeling the same.

as for the ads, all the houses have burning log fires and everyones warm too!

Tell us Sandiy why you're so happy to be a single mum at Christmas (no snarky tone honestly. Just interested to know the positives as you see them) :-)

Positives of being a single mum at Christmas

You can buy your own present

You don't have to cook a huge roast with loads of trimmings, you and the dc can have all yor favourite party food on paper plates,

No one to piss you off,

It can be however you want it to be, no one to ask if that's ok with them to,

this year mine is going to be like the best Sunday sort of day ever, am buying myself pirates of the carribean box set as the dc loved the first one and I love jack sparrow. So sat on the sofa all afternoon snuggled up with my dc drinking hot chocolate and baileys for me watching my favourite films.

Oh and you save a load of money not buying a man a present!

I'm another one finding some of those adverts hard to watch too as it's going to be my first Christmas on my own with DC this year, I think DS1 is aware of the future we have lost when he watches them as he also hates them.
I am trying to look on the positives, i.e. am buying myself a Jo Malone perfume to put under the tree, no arguments about what to watch and I will be having family over as usual (even FIL) so hopefully that will make the fact that there is one person missing a little easier to deal with.

Oh and will be hopefully picking up our new puppy just after Christmas which DC don't know about yet Smile

Skip the ads and watch the soaps instead. From one extreme to the other as their Christmases usually end in a major disaster.
