we were there - with the kids - it was fabulous! we missed various bits (guess you can't see it all from every angle) but the music, those trucks, all the fire and the fireworks - just amazing.
spent large chunks of the night trying not to blub - very emotional seeing all the athletes and then realising that that really is it.
sadly can't make the parade today - but will be watching on tv..... (with dd who is shattered so school have agreed she can come home this afternnoon!!)

Just before he tottered off to bed, DH said "I suppose we will either have to start talking to each other again or take up scrabble now!"
I love DH very much but still............

Can't believe it is all over
.
We had a brilliant time and were lucky enough to see 8 events. Memories for life and a generation inspired.
Ds was hugely lucky to meet the GB wheelchair basketball team and the GB swimming team (and managed to wear two medals!). I was amazed at how approachable and friendly everyone was, happy to share their time with an enthusiastic 8 yr old who had no fear in asking them loads of questions about their various disabilities.
your lucky dcs smart arse, going to the closing ceremony
This must be the only MaccyD ad I like.

Slarty , I suggested to DS (8) that he might like to go in later. He said no because he wants "to show off to my friends". Charming.
oh clare, did anyone else see the clip of her giving flowers. she was massively cheered and she seemed so nervous and surprised about it,

I saw Clare Balding walking through the Olympic Park: she is very small and VERY gracious in the face of autograph/picture hunters - even when clearly in a hurry to get somewhere (always liked her emoticom- she's proved me right)
If so, I shall see you then.
MWAH to all.
Will there be a thread tomorrow for the parade ?
Are we going to cry together ?

I absolutely luuuuurrrrrvvvvee Coldplay. Just wanted to spread some warmth for them (tho clearly in the minority).
As much as I enjoyed seeing them, I thought their set was a little long, not for me, but for the Paralympics closing.
I just hope that we do bloody well inspire generations.
