Following on from the midlands thread, anyone up for a meet up? Maybe in October? Where are most people based? City or County?
Hi anyone here thinking of signing up to NCT classes in Leic? Im in Glenfield and very undecided as I hear its very clicky and cant be bothered to hang out with annoying people! Baby due april 2013 x
The Manor House near Quorn is also quite nice.
I think of the ones listed, I've only been to the Bulls Head. I know Quorndon Fox is meant to be nice, and it's across the road from the bus stop if people wanted it? (The um.. 127? Whichever one runs from Leicester- Loughborough)
Don't mind anywhere except the Hobby Horse. Woodhouse Eaves is lovely and easy from M1 as well as A6 and Notts side of county, but not as cheap as other options
Ye olde bulls head in woodhouse eaves could work for a slight less cheap and cheerful option.
Void fine for me.
Quorndon fox, packe arms, hobby horse all reasonably cheap and cheerful and I think there's a 2 for 1 or 2 for £10 hathern way. Toby carvery in lboro reasonably cheap and cheerful too.
I'm in the void too.
I honestly don't mind, a nice daytime meet with the kids somewhere they can run around and then maybe something a bit more urban for a night meet (tbh, I would rather go to a night meet to hide behing a g&t I don't get out much these days
)
Near that big out of town shopping centre just off the M1. No wonder I never have any money!
For those who don't drive maybe a city meet up would be an idea?
The void too far for me as I'm not very well. It's OK though, I just may not be able to make any of the suggestions as I work full time (when well enough) and my DSs are all grown up now
The void suits me too!
hah alright
We can leave it to see if anyone else with a wider range replies tonight, and if not, I'll start taking names by PM and ringing round a few likely places.
Also wondering whether or not I should have namechanged for this.
Oh you scary people on the internets!
greeneggs, the void between Leicester & Nottingham suits me just fine!
Ooh, I'd like to come! Also north of Leicester, south of nottingham. Can only do evenings or weekends, and this half term is out for me as I'm away, but would like to come along if I can!
I could attempt to organise an evening pub thing, but my scope is limited to my general area (the void between Leicester and Nottingham
) so if there are people with a broader knowledge of pubs around Leics they might be a better choice.
Oh, and can I come to the evening one too?
I'll do daytime with preschoolers
. Pm me if you're up for it, with location and will attempt to be organised.
Excellent plan, Haunted, and we can vary the venues. So we need 3 organisers. Who's doing which? <tries not to sound bossy>
I think there could be 2 or 3 needs which could be kept seperate - might be easier logistically, could be organised by different peeps? Would also help people to be included as there is a choice..
A daytime for those with preschoolers
Half term for those that want to meet with their school age kids.
Evening meet for those that want to ditch the kids.
So, we need somewhere in reach of just about everywhere in the County, and a daytime meet, and an evening one.
How about one day during half term, or a Saturday if half term's too far off? Afternoon somewhere outdoors with kids, then early evening in a pub for those who can't make daytime? Should mean that most people can get to either or both? (or am I over optimistic about the weather?) Anyone got a better logistics brain than me?
So, suggestions:
1) Burbage Common for a walk then meet about 7pm at a pub nearby?
2) Beacon Hill for a walk then meet at the Old Bull's Head
3) Conkers with the kids then pub
4) Twinlakes then pub
5) Something out to the south of the county
Anyone got any other ideas (especially if the weather's crap)?
Hello! I'm a city bird. I'd love to do a meet up <rattles pombear packet>
I can travel wherever!
I have never met another Mumsnetter apart from in Sainsburys a woman was all smiley and then notice Pombears (for DH) in my shopping and then she turned her back on me
There are loads of babies and toddlers here - only met one other confessed MN-er though! We're in town and the park a lot, so we must have crossed paths at some point.
issimma don't panic, I don't think I have ever looked at a thread history of people, I work Thursdays and go swimming on a weekend or a Monday so only place we would have bumped into each other is the park or if you pass me when ds is crawling on the floor through St Mary's as he is pretending to be a dinosaur/tiger/dog!
(oh and I would prefer an evening and/or weekend meet. I would travel. All my kids are school age but I am a single parent and would need reasonable notice to arrange childcare)
Hmm that narrows it down greeneggs...also describes me.
Iirc on a previous thread there were a lot of MNetters in the woodhouse/swithland neck of the woods that came out of the woodwork.
Based on this and previous thread I estimate that there are at least half a dozen MNettees within 5mile radius of me.
