Parents have just received notice from Gumley School if its intention to become an academy. We have been invited to respond to a consultation to share our views. What are the advantages and disadvantages for schools adopting academy status? Previously, it was seen as something that only failing schools considered, as a way of turning around their fortunes and reputation. I know that Isleworth and Syon (a good to outstanding school) has already taken this option. Are other schools, such as Green and Gunnersbury planning to go the same way?
