Hi
Being new to Glasgow, and to the West End, I am in dire need of a new haircut and great hairdresser. Looking for something fresh - and a cut thats easy but stylish. Any suggestions please as I have had WAY too many bad haircuts in my day and really need to get my mojo back!
Thanks
S
I live in the west end and have a fab hairdresser who comes to the house. This is fab as have very young children. PM me if you want details!
Brambles - I go to Cresswell & Co (on Cresswell Lane) and get Greg to do my hair. It's very reasonable (my cut last week, on my 52nd birthday, was £45 - a colour is usually about £90).
Greg is good at listening to what you want - at the moment I'm growing my hair but when I decide to cut it, he'll do it in a way that suits me (I've had it both long and short since I started going to him - I used to go to Taylor Ferguson's and get Taylor to do it, but stopped when it got too expensive tried to forget about the £200+ cut 'n' colour
). The other main guy (Gavin?) also seems to be good at listening and I've seen nice haircuts that he's done.
Tel 334 5031. One word of warning though - they don't take credit cards (except for beauty treatments?), so you need cash.
I need a REALLY GOOD HAIRCUT!! Can anyone recommend a good hair salon in the West End, where they have an older clientele. I have an allergy to hair dye, I'm in my fifties, and I need a sympathetic hairdresser
Another vote for Byres and Burrell, both my daughters go and their hair is their pride and glory, another vote for cheryl, but they are all meant to be good.
I had a haircut from a great stylist called Dougie at Cruz Hair & Beauty at the end of 2012. Unfortunately I called today to make another appointment and he no longer works there :-( ...and they wouldn't tell me which salon he went to. Anyone any ideas??
I am extremely disappointed by the customer service I received at LimeBlew, Ruthven Lane. I wanted blonde highlights and ended up with a ginger mess which had to be dyed a second time to attempt to rectify the mistake. Not only was the colour wrong but the dye job was terrible and my hair is now patchy. I was in the salon for over 6 hours and my hair was not even cut. The service was very poor, with excuses being made about the colour in my hair and the patches that had been dyed in. In the end my money had to be refunded as they did not attempt to fix my hair and overall the experience was dreadful, I cannot express my disappointment enough.
Dylan at rainbow room George square great
not cheap but fab staff,
good consultations,know their stuff
I'd recommend Hair by Hanlon, very friendly salon and great service. I pay about £70 for a colour, cut and blow dry every couple of months and the only thing I've ever had forced upon me is cups of tea.
I had a bad experience with Byres and Birrell
Rainbow rooms are good
Suzanne from Stuart Donald, off Byres road on Highburgh (next to Tinderbox) is awesome!!!!
Has anyone got any experience of Richardson Murray?
last time i was there, the adolescent washing my hair was chewing gum while keeping up the incessant sales patter. i was terrified it was going to fall out and land on my head.
oh I had two to wash my hair, was I really lucky or just skanky?
i've been silenced, unfortunately...
TOTALLY agree. one member of staff to cut your hair, fifteen to tell you to buy the shampoo. bollocks to that.
Hi guys, I was wondering, if you had 5 mins, maybe you could put some of these recommendations into the Glasgow Local Listings. It's looking a bit barren :-)
I went to EC on a groupon voucher and while the cut was good, I was soooo bored by their " have you got this product" that I'll never go again. The 3, yes 3 people that took care of me
advised on their bloody products.
The staff reminded me of a colony of ants.
btw re byres and birrell, £50 for a cut and blow dry is nowhere near town or west end prices...
they must have a google alert set up. TOTALLY not surprised that they would be all over that, in retrospect. such a shame they don't care more about what their former clients think.
I wondered what it was that you said
HOW quick off the mark was someone (EC?) to have spotted that and got it deleted? I can't imagine Mumsnet are patrolling all the local boards to find posts that are dissing all the local hairdressers, waxers, dentist, florists etc... Funny.
hahahahaha do you know what i posted that got deleted? i made a guess at the salon that made an arse of the OP's hair. hahah. Initials EC. i so bet it was.
I heartily recommend the rainbow rooms on great western rd - Caroline is brilliant. Fabulous cut for less than £40.

The Rainbow Rooms (and I've tried all of the shops in Glasgow) are good, but honestly - Byres and Birrell are great. They really listen to what you want and if you're not happy, they'll try again! Cannot recommend them enough. They cut my Ds hair too, as lancaster said, they're great and one of the few people I'd trust.
Hi, I'm another byres and birrell fan - I go to Nadia. They are also the only people I trust with my children's hair.
You must use Omar who owns angel hair on queen Margaret drive. Cut and blow £20-£25, cut and colour £50-60. He is the best in west end and has a HuGE loyal clientele!
