Are you a parent, carer or kinship carer under 30? Do you want to learn more about drugs and alcohol issues? Are you enthusiastic, motivated and up for learning new skills?
Fast Forward, a charity working in Edinburgh since 1987, is starting again its Parent Peer Project!
Fast Forward is looking for parents and kinship carers to become part of our Parent Peer Project, where parents provide parents with knowledge about drugs and alcohol. We will give you training and support to become a Parent Peer Educator and run interactive drug workshops with parent groups. We want to give you relevant drug information to couple with your skills as a parent to enable you to empower other parents to speak confidently about drugs and alcohol with young people.
Parent Peer Educators also have opportunities to get involved with the other projects in the organisation. Gain experience as part of a voluntary organisation that promotes health and wellbeing with, by and for young people.
Volunteers are required to complete Core Training, which will cover drug and alcohol knowledge, peer education and child protection. Volunteers will then shadow staff delivering sessions to groups. Sessions around Edinburgh and the Lothians. Volunteer Travel expenses are covered.
