Teething / time for weaning or both?????

My 5 month old baby girl is constantly eating her hands and now waking during the night and earlier in the morning. She's not whingy just awake. Is this just down to teething or showing signs of needing weaned???? Is 5 months too early for weaning?? She will take 8oz each feed! Any advice welcome cause I'm confused!!! Thanks!
