Hi there, my wife and I are expectng our first in a few weeks time. We're booked into the Royal sussex and are worried about parking the car there. Has anyone got any advice or experience of getting there by other means. What about local taxis, will they take a lady in labour ? Any thoughts would be much appreciated!

why are you worried about parking?

but yes taxis will take a woman in labour but take a bin bag and towels for her to sit on in case of waters breaking/leaking etc smile

Most a&e depts will let a labouring woman leave the car in their car park for a limited time (happened with my 1st)

Give the hospital's A&E dept a ring and ask them. Or the labour ward. Good luck smile

I had mine at the royal sussex and got a cab there....it was fine - except at the end when I couldnt get out of the cab cos the contractions were so strong. Cab driver shit himself I was going to have it in the back of his cab, was flapping behind my bloke as he tried to get me out shouting 'make her breathe make her breathe' grin

Just drop her off and go and park nearby. If it's your first there's likely to be more than enough time. My dh left the car on a metre in a nearby street and left a note on the windscreen saying "I know everyone says their wife is on labour but mine really is." the metre ran out and he got back to see the wardens reading the note. They congratulated him and let him off grin

They have a carpark.

Thanks for all the responses - whenever we've been there the car park has been full, and I didn't fancy leaving the mrs. whilst I searched for a parking spot. Mind you, she may be more worried about my driving rather then the parking smile
