Settle in with me this cold and blustery November evening for... what else? Tea and tunnocks.
Although, if you prefer
then I am happy to join you for a glass or two
How many Dundee based MNetters do we have then? And who would be interested in joining in the MumsnetDundee site, sharing tips and ideas, recommending child friendly cafes and restaurants (and great places to escape the DC for an evening).
The wind is whistling through the local site like a gale down the Hilltown. It would be great to fill it with fun events and perhaps the odd meet-up.
You can keep up with MumsnetDundee on Twitter and Facebook
DD has chickenpox, I now have cabin fever!
Christmas was fine, DD had a ball although found it a bit overwhelming. Next year, I plan to hide in a cottage until everything is over.
Happy New Year everyone.
Morning ladies,
how was everyone's xmas? We all got norovirus, so the week beforehand was a little horrid, but we were all recovered by the day itself and the boy enjoyed himself, he's started to get the whole notion of presents
Hello again all! I too have been a bit manic and stressed to the max, but I managed to let off some steam at the weekend with a couple of friends and the festive cheer now seems to be taking over from the Christmas hysteria. PLus the end is in sight - just one more (short) working day until I am off for 2 whole weeks - hurrah!
The DDs visited Santa today at Ardler complex with their Gran and seemed to have a lovely time - looks good from the few pics which MIL took. Neither of them were too freaked out by the big guy in the beard and they got a tube of sweets/biscuits each for a present (although apparently you can bring your own for him to give I think?!) So potentially a recommendation there if anyone's looking for a grotto to visit.
However I've discovered a visit to Santa can trigger some late additions to the Christmas list - both asked for a Barbie which has so far NOT been mentioned
. Although I was considering this anyway, as I managed to bag a second hand Barbie plane from someone at work who was getting rid of it. It's a proper classic Barbie toy, never seen one before. Don't know where the flip I'm going to put it though, it's BIG
Am going to hit Lovely Things this week - really just needign something for the men in my life though, and some stocking fillers.
Peh
oh, booo to UTI. How old is DD? My DD used to get them a lot but seems to have grown out of them. Hope she is ok
Yes, we had one of our DDs birthday parties in there once. The lady is quite intense/serious but they kids enjoyed it for what it was AND they keep what they make so that sorted out the party bags
can you not get hold of one of the make shift cardboard thingies that 9wells had when pregnant people need to pee? Or if she's old enough to use a potty?
Also suspect that DD has a UTI, that will be fun trying to get a sample, and get a doctors appointment!
It was all go in our household today, I seem to be getting other peoples shopping now as well as my own! Was in tesco riverside today, making good use of SIL's discount card, and it was so quiet got parked right at the door, was expecting it to be mobbed.
Anyone been to Little Pinata in the ferry, looking for recommendations!
Lovely Things is FAB-U-LOUS, if you don't follow her on FB you should, she's hysterical! Rosy Tuesdays pretty too but the fashion a touch too young & skinny for me <gah>
Doing some Christmas shopping today...there are some lovely new shops! Lovely Things on Dock Street and Rosy Tuesday across from the DCA. I could have maxed my credit card easily!!
ooh, sorry guys. Not been around much recently. It has been absolutely manic here. As ever. Last week of work, and I have done NO prep for Xmas. Eek.
Yes, I like the gingerbread man too. Must hang my wee stockings on the tree
Tree up - I now need a week off. DC free. And a lie down in a dark dark room. With alcohol.
I did was bonny that little gingerbread man
We've come to the sad realisation that a one year old tornado and the Xmas tree would be a bad combination
no tinsel in this household this year
Hello headinagoodbook <wave>
Has anyone else seen the gingerbread wifie that H posted on her facebook page, I now need to go back and sew one of those! I managed a heart and a stocking, and want the complete set.
I saw a packet of pickled onion pombears in the bin at work! I giggled and then glanced around the floor to see if anyone was watching me giggle!
Hello headinabook (that sounds like me)
Hope you have a good time in B'ham, Muirhead. Would love to have more LAs - we should organise a LA coffee and cake chat so I can explain what it's all about.
Judgeypants hoiked, pom bears at ready, fruit shoot in pocket
(nods sagely)
Hello headinagoodbook! <waves back>
We'll be the ones walking down the street holding pombears and wearing judgeypants
<waves to head)
We'll have to get some sort of secret signal. In my case a really badly made Christmas decoration.
Hiya! I'm so excited to find this - dundee mn! Woo!
Will have to start looking out for mnetters in the street now!
Hello everyone!(waves manically!)
Tree is up at our house too! DD1, who's 6, pretty much took charge and dressed most of it with some 'help' from DD2 (2.5) as I was busy making a cake/dinner and DH has got man-flu and hasn't strayed far from the sofa for the past two days
Anyway, it looks great and I'm feeling even more Christmassy now!
Craft night was good fun - I surprised myself by completing a felt stocking, so now it's hanging from my work noticeboard in a vague attempt to make my desk look festive.
I may have recruited someone else to be a Local Ambassador - I'm sending her a link to the site etc so hopefully she will be in touch soon Tea.
Am off to Birmingham for work for the next 2 days - must go and finish packing, am having a wordrobe 'mare!
We are putting our tree up this weekend, I think.
Did you all see that H is offering more classes. I might go along one evening with my DD if we can fit it in. Maybe even take my mum. That would be lovely.
A peh for New Year sounds good. We are going to find a whole load of new traditions, I think.
DH put our wee plastic tree up today and my felt heart takes pride of place on the tree along with a bauble DD made at art class today!
Tempted to return to make something else, but DH's shifts will probably get in the way.
Ordered the 3lb steak pie for new years day today, yummy!
Morning all. Was really lovely to meet you last night. Were your families impressed by your work?
I've had the joiner in this morning to talk walls and doors and floors. Not to mention windows.
What are you all up to today?
We are all strangers, errol so don't worry about that.
If anyone is worried that they don't know anyone or that we are all pals - we aren't. I know some of the MNetters in the area but not all who are coming tonight
And that's what it's all about. Meeting with other people in the area.
I don't know about you guys, but I've found that I don't have a lot in common with some of my old friends and its difficult to meet new people.
Me I think, although I don't know anyone so be kind!
Morning. Do we have a head count of those coming to the meet up tonight?
