Audience at kermesse show

Yesterday was the kermesse. As usual, the adults were chatting all the way through the song and dance show, and only watching when their own DCs were on stage. It's such a bad example to set the children.

And this year, because it was hot, by the end of the show nearly half the audience had left and were standing outside the hall having a cigarette break. The show only lasts one hour. I felt really sorry for the children doing the last dance.

I just think it is so rude and would like to know if the adults behave in the same way in other parts of France. (I'm up in the north)

We had our kermesse today, it's only a small school (a total of about 45 pupils, eek!) and I think almost all the parents stayed all the way through. The show wasn't that long though, about half an hour maybe. It was outside in the school yard and quite informal - the maternelle kids (inc. my two DDs, naturally ) refused to dance so some of the parents had to join in to encourage them... All cute tho

Nope everyone sat down for the all the dances. Ours was a Friday evening. That said the programme was only about 40 mins. Quite a big school, 6 classes, and we are west of Paris near Versailles.
However, they wanted too many "cases" on the tickets for sandwiches and apparently lots of them went to waste!
