German MNetters - please help me find this 80s song, It's driving me mad.

It was on the radio today, and I remembered I used to have the single. It was a big hit in Germany when I did a school exchange, 1983/4 I think.

It's on a Major Tom theme and he is mentioned in the lyrics. The chorus is about being so many "somethings" von die erde. I was trying to listen to the words but pesky dd kept talking.
