We have been umming and ahhing about moving to Australia now for years. I am from Uk and dh is half british and half aussie. We did move to Melbourne 4 years ago, but I got real homesick and didnt even give it a chance, so we came back, in hindsight i/we regret that decison.
Anyway 4 years on and we now have 2 ds's and constantly think about moving back there, not to melbourne ( we are from cornwall and are not city folk, so i think that may have played a big part last time).
So, we have wayed up pros and cons and Aus always comes out on top, except for family of course. But my main concern is the children, so has anyone emigrated with small children and how did they take it. Ds1 is 2.5 9 and especially sensitive/shy and ds2 is 9 months. It isnt finacially possibly to do it straight away but obviuosly the sooner the better with school etc.
Anyones experiences would be great to hear, thanks

I think there are pros and cons about emigrating with small children . . .

On the positive side, you will meet other mums, through school/playgroups etc and will hopefully fairly quickly find some friends.

On the negative side you are a LONG way from your own family/old chums who may be increasingly important if you have young children. Believe me it's pretty hard to be away from your family support network with small kids.

The kids wont care two hoots where they are living, as long as mum and dad are there. But in purely practical terms Australia is a great place to bring up children, sea, sun, great outdoor life, good schools etc etc. But if you were homesick last time what makes you think things will be different now?

I have been here for nearly 3 years and have 2 young children and partly it is great and partly it is VERY DIFFICULT and makes me feel sad to be so far from my lovely family.
