Help - German tampons!!

Well, blunt and to the point with my title. Just started my first period in this country and have had a tampons disaster. Using OB ones with some weird twisty cover on them. 1 hour in and it has leaked. Helpme - is there any advice on better makes or secret stashes of Tampax anywhere?

Sorry I've never been to Germany so I have no idea but would you consider a seasponge or mooncup if you can get them. I've used seasponges and they're great. Never used a mooncup but everyone here seems to think they're fabulous.

Good luck.

i have used ob and found them far better than uk tampons, long ago though so can't remember which sort. mooncup is better than anything else.

erm.... arent OB the ones that has a special insertion device? Maybe you left it on?

In any event, OB comes in difference "sizes" dependent on the "size of your bleed".

I dont know german tampons, but we have OB in Norway.

thanks everyone. Mooncup...not for me thanks. These OB ones don't have an applicator so are like lil-let's. They have this loose mesh over them like a folded umbrella but when I tugged it it didn't want to move. My German is getting better but I still rely n translation sites and frankly don't have the time to translate my tampon instructions! Maybe I should buy some OB applicator ones then I know what I'm doing...

Hi, I'm in Germany. I use OB - not applicator ones (not seen those). Just take off the film and you are good to go. BUT like QS says there are difference sizes AND different obsorbancies too. "leicht" with I think two tear drops means for really light days (end of the duration). I use the ones with I think 4 tear drops on the packet for the first few days.

By the way, the "tear drops" think is in the top left hand corner.

Hope this helps.

G, sorry to sway from the subject somewhat but...you're leaving Germany? I've really not had a chance to post on the German thread. I lurk when i can but seem to have missed so much over the Christmas break.

Kaufhof used to stock tampax but I am not sure if they still do. I used to buy tampons at home in bulk until I converted to a mooncup 2 years ago. Much easier IMO but I know that they are not for everyone.

I did not get on well with ob tampons, hence the stocking up in uk.

I use OB and find them at least as good as whatever UK brand I used.

Keep toying with the idea of a mooncup but haven't got round to buying one yet.

Boots.com will deliver overseas if that helps.

ROFL reading this because I'd forgotten that when I lived in Germany 10 years ago I had to bulk buy tampons on visits to the UK!

I still have a couple of boxes of Tampax in the cellar left over from before I got my mooncup.

You should get one, they are fab. I actually do not mind getting my period now as it is so easy.

I did not know Boots deliver overseas, off to see if they deliver to Switzerland. Probably not.

Where did you hear that Boots deliver overseas? Just looked up the website and they say that they don't.

I am in Hungary and we get OBs too. Never had a problem with them tbh. I use the super for the first few days, then normal and then the light days ones. Of course I haven't had a period for over 2 months now so haven't needed anything. Menopause!

Whereabouts are you? They have real Tampax in our Naafi (army shop) if you're desperate!

Sorry MissusLindt, I'm OS but BFPO maybe that's why they deliver didn't realise they didn't although I can't see why they wouldn't.
Do you want some sending to you?

No, it is ok. I get unreasonably excited about getting deliveries from UK stores, particularly at the moment when the pound is so weak that everything is so cheap for us. I am not actually needing anything, but thanks all the same.
