Moving to Amsterdam with 3 kids

I need some advice about moving to Amsterdam. DH has started a long-term job central Amsterdam. Now I have to sort out the details of moving - where? when?

We have been living in Cheltenham since 2004 when we moved from the US. The whole family has adjusted well to the English way of life. DH is bribing me to move with the idea of school fees for 3 kids finally being paid by a company and the idea of buying a house again (currently renting as home prices in the UK seem so expensive).

I am considering the British School in Amsterdam or even the Violenschool in Hilversum. We went on a tour of the International school in Amstelveen and decided it wasn't for us right now (maybe when the kids get older).

Oldest Daughter is into riding and pony club... Middle Daughter is on a competition gymnastics team....are these possible to continue in Amsterdam?

Any insight would be greatly appreciated! What do you do without a garden? Where do the kids go play while you are cooking dinner?

Did you visit Hilversum? Based on my extremely limited knowledge, would think it would be far easier to consider a continuation of riding etc if based there. No idea about gymnastics. Would also think much easier to have a garden in Hilversum, but no idea of prices.

Hope someone more knowledgeable comes along to advise you. Good luck. Us - London - Netherlands in such a short time is alot of BIG change.
