Hi,

Am in Singapore and relocated last year/end 2006. DH was in the US for 4 months before we moved so I was left in London to do everything including finding tenants for our house there so I know what a lot there is to do! It was also in the run up to Christmas to make things more hectic!

There are a few other MNs here in Singapore as well.

Do you have a relocation company on the removals? We used Sterling in the UK and Santa Fe in Singapore. They were both really helpful in suggesting what we pack and what we bring with us as we had some stuff that came by boat and some by air.

Also have you got somewhere to live sorted or are you in serviced accom till you find somewhere?

Sorry more questions than advice but ask away and will try to help with more specific issues as I'm sure will the others on here.

I struggle to buy bras out here as most locals are not as well endowed . Generally the clothes sizes are a bit different (eg Asian fit for men's shirts is prevalent) so I would come well supplied with clothes to start with then you can source your sizes at leisure.

hi
we relocated to sg last year. it's fab by the way

nightmare to prepare for
get your lists sorted:

rent house out - leave little manual for tenants
call all utilities so they know you've left
re-direct mail (royalmail do it for up to a year, then renewable - we redirect ours to dh's mum and she sends out mail once a month)
send out new address cards to friends

write a list of stuff you want shipped and stuff by air. usually you get a small air shipment that should reach you in a week. the shipment will take about 4 weeks. mind you our air took 3 weeks

pack away anything you dont want to bring/need and store it in uk

good luck...!
