Hi

I'm from San Antonio, but haven't lived there in about 12 years and next week am going back for my first visit since moving abroad. ( Live in London currently)

Sadly DH must work so it is just DS (11 weeks) and I going. Am hoping someone here will be able to help me with information on local baby resources and ideas of stuff to do with 11 week old baby.

  • Do shopping centres have changing and nursing rooms?

  • What are some local baby wear stores to visit?

  • Good cafes/restaurants to try/baby-friendly/BF friendly

  • Is the Riverwalk buggy friendly?

  • Any tips and ideas for going out and about with DS?

  • Any Mom & baby groups I can drop-in to?

Thanks!!

Just replied to your question on "long haul".
I lived in Houston for 17 years and just recently moved back to UK. San Antonio is one of my favourite places!
To be honest I am not sure how much you are going to be able to do with an 11 wk old baby, the riverwalk is beautiful but I would not say too buggy friendly as there are lots of steps (maybe you could use a sling)? there is a new mall at the riverwalk with lots of baby facilities. I am very jeleous that you will be enjoying all the real tex-mex yum yum!!! I would say all restaurants have baby changing, BF ummm not too many facilities in restaruants but malls usually have a "family room". cannot help with the Mom and Baby groups (but try to see if there is a gymboree) Gymboree at the mall is also a baby clothes shop - very cool things for baby and of course half the price of things here. You are going to have a lot of fun shopping.

We might be moving to Dallas if dh's interview goes well on 2nd of January. Waiting to see what sort of offer is made, so will be asking for loads of info on life in Texas maybe! Is San Antonio near Dallas?

I hope the best for your DH's interview!

We hope to move back as well, but my DP is not American so we have a whole lot of immigration and visa issues to get through first.

San Antonio is about 6 hours drive from Dallas - not too far in American driving terms.

I haven't lived there in quite awhile so may not be able to answer everything, but ask away.

Thanks BritTex

I am really looking forward to having proper Tex-Mex again. Yum indeed! The only downside is that I am going back to work in December and am supposed to be on my post-pregnancy-going-back-to-work-and-nothing-fits diet, but I just don't see how I'll be able to turn down all the delcicous food especially as it will be my first Thanksgiving dinner in years as well.

Oh dear....I think I have gained weight just thinking about all that food
