Calling Dublin mums -- tell me about Blackrock and primary schools

As you you may recall from last weeks threads, DH has been offered a contract position in Dublin. He is leaning towards taking it. So, the next dilemma is whether we all move to Dublin or he commutes to/from London.

We've worked out that if I gave up my job and also moved to Ireland (which I wouldn't do immediately) then we would actually have loads more money than we do now. So, I'm considering it.

Anyway, I'm also really interested to know where the Americans hang out.

Does anyone know anything about this school? www.sac.ie/home.php

So, I guess the Dublin mums are all at work or stuck in traffic?

That is one of the best schools in Dublin Elusis, could you get your dc's in there? If so it would be great. Blackrock is a great place to live too, I lived there years ago but my dsis lives in Monkstown, which is next to it and loves it.

I don't know anything about the school other than what I read on the website.

Is it hard to get into. DD is 4 now, and she would not likely start there for another year (if we go) so it would be K2 entry.

It appears to have a lot of International kids, so I'm hoping that means expats, and hoping many of them would be American.

The fees actually look fairly reasonable -- for private school anyway. Cetainly less than what I fork out for a nanny now.

I'm not too sure tbh but it is a very popular school and I'd imagine there would be a waiting list. They might have some kind of admissions policy for expat students, I would give the office a call and ask. Put it this way if I was moving back to Dublin I would love my dd to go there.
