Vancouver!

Oz has four in the top ten, Canada three, Switzerland 2, and Austria one.

here

(sorry if posted before, had a quick browse but couldn't see it anywhere!)

Wahay! I live in the second best place

Bizarrely, my first new friend here is from Canada and she was saying this morning that Melbourne and Vancouver are the top 2. She said that if she had a choice she would take her DP and DD back there ... but Melbourne is a fab alternative ...

I've lived in Calgary (number10) and getting a house there is virtually impossible.
my old school sends out emails asking if their students can live with you because there are no flats for them.

I loved Vancouver. Couldn't stand the wet / cold though (but what am I doing in London???).

I'm from Brisbane originally, so miffed to not see it there (but who really wants to live in a stinking hot drought zone?). But VERY happy to see Adelaide so high, my BIL and his family live there and we loved it when we visited.

Food for thought....

according to Mercer 2007 world quality of life survey, Zurich again comes out best for overall quality of life, Geneva 2nd & Vancouver & Vienna joint 3rd

London is I think, 39, see here

That's why I don't wanto to leave & move back to London, well, not cos of this survey, but becasue it really is miles better here, must show dh.

Am at the idea of Calgary being in there. Canada always does very well in these surveys, I never know what criteria they're using.

zurich was number 1 last year and joint number one with Geneva the years before. Think Dublin was a bit higher last year as has dropped .5 this year compared with last.

don't really know geneva st, what didn't you like? I live in the countryside near Zurich, don't go into the city that much. Actually prefer Basel, think it's a wonderful wonderful city, beautiful, not too big, nice atmosphere, fab transport. perfect.

My experience of Geneva was that is was very unfriendly.

I don't dislike the whole of Switzerland, spent many holidays in Verbier & Lugano.

Although I absolutely love Auckland ... and miss it dreadfully I was surprised to see it ranked No 5 in that second link ... the Mercer one. Quality of life is great there but, nah, definitely NOT No 5.

what made it unfriendly for you?
