Happy New Year (nearly). We have a confirmed move for 2017 to Amman with one pre-schooler and one primary. The little one can be French or English language and older one English. Would anyone have any insights of experience on schools? Thanks.

Hi akuabadoll

We're in a similar position, though with our eldest coming up to preschool age and a year in Amman under our belts.

Do you know where you'll be living? Most expats live in Weibdeh or Abdoun, with the nurseries and schools catering to them largely located in Abdoun. Weibdeh has a decent preschool and primary (recently co-ed after previously being boys only) in Terra Sancta, but nothing else.

Raise and Praise and Eco Kids (both in Abdoun) are very popular nursery/preschools, particularly with French speaking friends. Raise and Praise follows EYFS, if slotting back into the British curriculum is important.

I haven't looked into primary schools, but hear good things about Ahliyyah school for girls on Rainbow St and American Community School in Abdoun (this one has pretty high fees though).

Sorry, that was an essay, hope some of it helps!

Thanks Deploy,

I hadn't heard of Raise and Praise so great tip as an extra option for the smaller one. For him I had heard so far of the nursery of the French school or Little Academy - this because they are near our office in Deir Ghbair (so we will find a place to live accessible to there). The bigger one might be a bit more tricky - I have names of a few schools with primary sections both British and American but have no really info on any of them yet. It's early days yet though. Thanks again.
