Move to NI

Not really that overseas, though technically it is....has anyone moved from England to Northern Ireland. How have they found it, settling/fitting in, adjusting to the different culture etc....I'm interested to hear about any experiences

Yes, and I found the transition back to England difficult! NI is a great place to live, relatively small so even if you are inland it is not far from the sea. Amazing scenery and people much friendlier than England generally speaking, I was surprised when we first arrived how many people say "hello" in the street and converse in shops etc. Easier to get a GP appointment than in large UK cities. Less diversity than mainland UK but increasing.

It was my dc's favourite place to live. They said they are moving there when they are older.

Forgot to mention the excellent schools that you would be paying an arm and a leg for in England. In fact there was a boy in dd's class who came from a wealthy London background whose family moved to NI because of the massive price difference in grammar schools.

We lived in Newcastle Co Down for 18 months only return ing to England because of work.

I would move back on a heart beat.
