Astrophy only just realised you are actually not in Australia, but as you're the North Shore expert and will be returning you qualify as 'moving to'

Hi everyone I'm HumpyDumpy living in Perth. Been here 8 months. Got a DD 2years old and an Aussie DH. I'm abit of an erratic poster, as don't always have access to a computer as DH takes laptop to work.

MrsBigD · 05/09/2006 15:04

humpydumpy... that's easy... get dh to get you a pc/laptop for yourself

humpy, I drove along Orrong Road and thought of you today

Report
humpydumpy · 05/09/2006 15:20

Probably a good idea I don't have a lap top here otherwise nothing would get done. Could get very addicted to mn. Had to wean myself off ebay not long ago.

Hi suzy - have decided Orrong is not too bad after driving on the fwy for the 1st time on sunday. Have been making excuses for ages not to drive on there but had no choice on sunday. The lanes are so narrow and everyone drives so close together, was so scared. So if you see anyone driving on the fwy with their eyes closed, it's me (I know I'm a wimp)

Report
suzywong · 05/09/2006 15:23

those lanes ARE narrow!
I shut my eyes between the Narrows Bridge and the Mithchell freeway too.

I drove back from Jurien Bay (300ks north) today and shut my eyes when the road trains shot past. It scary

humpydumpy · 05/09/2006 15:37

Ahh so it's not just me. Am a complete sissy when it comes to driving and it's not somewhere I have driven before. Went to Os park the other day and instead of going on the fwy which was the direct route, went the long way via Roe and Tonkin. Think it the fact once you get to Mill Point road there are so many exits and everyone seem to know exactly where they are going and wont let you in if you are in the wrong lane.

Report
suzywong · 05/09/2006 15:38

No, you're all right love, I wouldn't do that journey myself unless life savingly essential. It is scary.
Don't get me started on the Kenwick link

Report
Astrophe · 05/09/2006 15:39

crikey, its enough to scare off any potential emigrators - the thought of you two driving with you eyes closed!

Report
suzywong · 05/09/2006 15:41

Ha!
especially me in my old Volvo station wagon.
Acutally, one of htemain reasons we have our eyes closed is because Perth drivers are among the worst in the world. They don't consider anyone else on the road, no road sense so if you get in the wrong lane and need to dodge out fast they won't get it and let you out.
Well that's my excuse

humpydumpy · 05/09/2006 15:45

Not done Kenwick link yet. We were at The Beach House in Os Park, the massive kids play centre, got invited by a friend. It is mad, kids everywhere and so much to play on DD didn't know what to go on first. She slept well tho

Is it just Perth who have not mastered the keep left rule or is it all of Australia?

Sunnydelight

Moving to Sydney next April, holidaying there first for three weeks in November (shame it wasn't January, I could have joined the meet up!). I'm pretty convinced by people on here to go North Shore, but don't know quite where yet.

Have DS1 13, DS2 7 and DD 3. It would be great to know people in Sydney - particularly others with "widely spaced" families!

Keep them coming ladies (and gents?), I need to get started building my social network for in 18 months

Ah sod it did it now whilst waiting for 2 little monsters to finally nod off. DS has been a nightmare tonight for going down, sreaming so much he made himself sick. Guess his first visit to nursery required some extra cuddles and digestive time

Here's the first list. Keep the details coming!
