We might be moving there for three years and I'd love to ask a few questions about areas to live, schools and living there generally.

Thanks in advance.

Anyone?

And specifically do you have any experience of living in Castelldefels and DCs attending the British School?

Thanks in advance

Hi there,

I did my A levels over there at Kensington school (British School in Pedrables) - it was an amazing lifestyle and experience. My information probably not too up to date but I'm still there at least once a year.

Castelldefells is lovely but a commute into central BCN. Happy to help where/if I can in any way..

Thanks Sciencemum80.
We have narrowed it down to BSB - live in Castelldefels or Kensington School - live in Barcelona.
We'll be visiting next month to get a feel for both areas. I like the idea of beach and pool in Castelldefels, as a house with a pool in Pedrables would be out of our price range. Lots of research to do!
I'm glad to hear you enjoyed the experience though. Did you learn much if any Spanish or Catalan?

Had a bit of an advantage as my grandmother Spanish but after 2 years was fluent (not having English TV helped) and the school immerse you during Spanish lessons. Can understand quite a bit of Catalan and read it but not great at speaking.

Also might be worth looking at the suburbs.. Lovely areas in the valles (behind Tibidabo) - we lived in Sant Cugat in terraced house with pool. Very easy and fast commute on the train or by car or school bus. Lots of people also lived in big detached places in Valldoreix and surrounds. Agree Pedralbes, Sarria etc all super expensive! Friends at the school also came from Sant Just Desvern which is nice too.

Good luck with your trip. I would move back at the drop of a hat! Beach in summer, mountains and skiing in winter. Amazing food and wine.. Smile

Thanks so much for naming some neighbourhoods to consider. I currently have 10 minute school run on foot (London suburbs) but I think it's going to be impossible to do that in BCN. My two are little so I'll be taking them every day.
Do you know Castelldefels at all? Part of me relishes the thought of being near the beach and having a shared pool (townhouse complex). We could definitely get more for our money in Castelldefels it seems. With such a perfect climate it would be a shame not to have easy access to a pool!
I'm going to try and keep an open mind until we've visited both schools and several areas.

Hey there, I used to live in Barcelona and now live a little further south of Castelldefels with my husband and rugrats. I have friends who teach in the BSB and hear that it has a good reputationf for an International school. You should have a look at the website //www.mumabroad.com.....it has tons of info and contacts for schools in an around Barna. Bona sort!!!

Thanks so much Libelula123!

Do you mind if I ask you think Castelldefels is a good place to live? If we get into BSB then I like the idea of living close to the school.

Hi Photocop,
Did you make it to Barcelona? I am thinking of going to Castellfedels too and to put my children at the British School.
Any advice?
Thanks!

We lived 5 years in Barcelona. Loved every seconds of it. If you are thinking about the school in Castellfedels, have a look at Gava too. A friend of mine lived on the beach there.
