Baby in taxi - Germany?

We are taking my 3 month old to Dusseldorf to visit the Christmas Markets next week. Does anyone know whether a baby can travel in a taxi without a car seat?

i don't know about the legalities but why woudl you risk it?? you can take an infant carrier with you surely?

I am sure you could but why would you want to take such a risk with a three month old. Take a car carry seat with you - it does not count in any airline luggage allowance.

You cant. Taxis in germany are not allowed to transport children below 150cm without appropriate restraint. many taxis will carry booster cushions for older kids but in terms of babycarriers / car seats it is the passengers responsibility. I have been left standing with small toddler and missed my flight.

Get a car seat that clips onto a pushchar then you can have something to wheel your purchases around in plus baby changing bag & use a carrier for your child.

Use a carrier for strolling around the market & the car seat in the taxi.

Yes, car seat which clips into pushchair would be the best solution. If you don't have one maybe you could borrow one?

You can hire a taxi from airport etc with car seat in if easier. Then just take good sling. Markets way too busy for pram and dusseldorf has lots of cobbles and steps

Thanks all for your replies. I do have a car seat with a travel system but hoping to take the smaller buggy. Sling not an option unfortunately. He's a very big baby!!

What sling do you have? Just we can still sling eldest at 4 years on back if needed ( ie falls asleep after midnight flights).

Babybjorn will kill back in seconds but many others like boba/ ergo/ beco Gemini will last newborn- toddler
